The corridors of Marine Country was deathly quiet, giving an almost abandoned feel to the entire deck as Naxea walked the main corridor, not having the time to change. So many of her Marines lay wounded in Sickbay. Others were in the morgue. Naxea felt exhausted as she headed for the staging area. Coming up to Gami's quarters, she suddenly couldn't remember the last time she saw Gami, which was unusual, especially after a battle. She stopped, making the decision to check in on her friend, pressing the door chime. After waiting a few moments there wasn't an answer. "Computer, what is the look Gunnery Sergeant Luxa Gami?"
"Gunnery Sergeant Luxa Gami is in her quarters," came the computer's reply.
"Gami. Open the door," Naxea stated.
"Fine. Enter," came a tired voice.
Naxea entered to a darkened quarters. On the couch in the living g area was the form of Gunnery Sergeant Gami. Even in the low lighting, Naxea could see the stress on her face, noting her ragged breathing.
"Hey, you ok?" Naxea asked, taking a few steps into the room.
Taking a deep breath, Gami responded. "Honestly, I've been better. "
As she moved closer to sit down across from Gami, she saw something she hadn't seen before with Gami--tear stains. "Luxa, what's going on?" she asked softly.
"During the boarding attacks...I...I felt Moses being hit. I thought I'd lost him and then it was like something took control of me. I rushed recklessly at those hounds. I used my abilities to an extent that I hadn't done so since the Dominion Invasion of Betazed. It...it brought alot of bad memories and feelings."
As she talked, Naxea noticed the shaking intensified. "Gami, I think you need to see a doctor. "
Gami shook her head. "No. Other than my head still hurting, I'm fine. Besides, you need every Marine you can get."
"Look," Naxea began. "I do need every Marine I can get but I also need them to be one-hundred percent. I only hope you didn't suffer any brain damage from using your abilities like that. How is Moses by the way?"
Gami gave a slight shrug. "Last I heard her was still out and in ICU with Man'darr. But it's still touch and go so they want limited visitors. "
"Gami, look. You've been through hell. I want you to take a few hours off to rest. I'll make it an order if I need to."
"You know. You're really annoying sometimes," Gami remarked bitterly.
"I try my best," Naxea teased, grinning. "I'd also like you to get checked out in medical to make sure that there isn't any brain damage."
Gami took a deep breath. "Fine. Anything else?"
Naxea shook her head slightly. "No. If anything happens or if there are any changes with Moses, I promise to let you know as soon as I can."
Pausing for a moment before replying, Gami nodded. "Fine. I'm too tired to argue. "
Naxea looked at her friend. She hoped for all their sakes they found a way home. She recalled their old plans of getting out and creating a mercenary group. Now, settling down somewhere remote and never picking up another phaser rifle sounded like a dream. She reached over and placed a hand on Gami's leg. "Just get some rest. I'm here if you need anything," Goving a small pat, Naxea stood and exited.
