STARFIGHTER CORPS BRIEFING
ZYPHERA PRIME — TACTICAL FLIGHT OPERATIONS
Classification: Departmental / Tactical
Distribution: Starfighter Corps
Date: 11 August 2398
SITUATION
Zyphera Prime is operating under heavy diplomatic and commercial traffic conditions.
Numerous foreign vessels, including armed craft, are present or expected.
Unauthorised fighter activity could be interpreted as escalation.
MISSION
The Starfighter Corps will maintain readiness while minimising visible military posture.
Primary responsibilities include:
- defensive readiness,
- escort planning,
- emergency launch preparation,
- reconnaissance if authorised,
- shuttle escort if required,
- evacuation support,
- anti-boarding response,
- tactical flight support.
FLIGHT STATUS
Normal combat air patrols are NOT authorised within Zypheran-controlled space unless cleared through local traffic authority.
Fighters should remain prepared for rapid launch in the event of:
- hostile vessel approach,
- station attack,
- Elysium evacuation,
- delegate extraction,
- unidentified tactical craft,
- Galatonian incursion,
- pursuit following sabotage or assassination.
COORDINATION
Starfighter Corps will work closely with:
- Flight Control,
- Tactical,
- Security,
- Marines,
- Operations,
- Zypheran Traffic Authority.
IDENTIFICATION CHALLENGE
A large number of unfamiliar vessel types are present.
Pilots should not assume unknown design equals hostile.
Visual identification, transponder verification and sensor confirmation are essential.
GALATONIAN THREAT
Galatonian forces have previously used coordinated pack tactics.
If encountered, pilots should expect:
- aggressive pursuit,
- numerical pressure,
- attempts to isolate individual craft,
- boarding-capable support vessels,
- non-standard tactical behaviour.
EREBUS RELEVANCE
If Erebus proceeds to construction, fighter personnel may eventually be required to provide:
- site defence,
- convoy escort,
- construction-zone patrol,
- test-range security,
- transit-path reconnaissance.
Long-term doctrine may also need to address whether small craft can safely transit Erebus independently.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Stay ready.
Stay visible enough to deter trouble.
Not so visible that you become the trouble.
