Jaeih stood silently in the briefing room. It was empty but for her at the moment.

All shuttles were back, including the one that had been captured. All crew were back. A number were in medical. Including the captain, XO, Chief of Helm and Chief of Security.

It was, done. And now she watched as the Romulan escort left them at the edge of the system and warped away.

The Elysium shuddered slightly and then jumped to warp as well.

A voice came from behind her. “Do you regret it?”

“Regret what?”

“Not speaking with him.”

“No.” Jaeih turned and faced her Aunt. “I can honestly say I don’t.”

Evelyn tilted her head. “Why?”

“Because he may be my biological father, but why would I want to know him when I know who my father really is?”

The open secret of her adoption in the family had never affected Jaeih. She considered her parents, her real parents and never thought of them in any other way.

“You could have asked to see her?” Evelyn prompted.

“And given Percy Albright more ammo against me? Hell, meet a traitor and watch myself be brigged for it. I’ll pass on that.”

Evelyn nodded. “Elysium is Earth Bound. Once there, I will depart. The crew are being ordered to 4 weeks of shore leave.”

Jaeih nodded, “And will Captain Lalor keep her command?”

“Jaeih, she always was going to keep it.” Evelyn sighed. “I had to do the evals and I find no issue in the ship or her crew. A few minor things which will resolve themselves I am sure. And I will be contacting BUPERS about the Operations staffing issue.”

Jaeih nodded. “Thank you Aunt Evie”

Evelyn smiled, gave her niece a hug and left the briefing room.
