Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Holodeck
Timeline: Current
655 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure

Arrianna walked into the holodeck and drew a fine elven sword. "Computer. Start Lord of the Rings program. The Fellowship of the ring. The Council of Elrond."

Arri sat with the rest of the elves as Lord Elrond opened the Council. "Strangers from distant lands, Friends of Old, you are gathered here to address the threat of Mordor....."

Rosalyn had to admit when she'd received the memo for the setting of her review with Arrianna she wasn't sure how to take it. Despite knowing they'd likely have fun, she was worried that nature of their set would make her work difficult. Fully committing she arrived dressed in Silvan scout greens, not too dissimilar to what Legolas wore in the 21st-century trilogy.

"Middle- earth stands upon the brink of destruction..." Elrond continued as Rosalyn made a beeline towards the seat next to Arrianna, "Good afternoon, Commander" Rosalyn whispered as she took her seat.

"Greetings Commander. I'm pleased we could meet." She noted.

Rosalyn, despite feeling slightly embarrassed about her attire now she was face to face with another person, went straight to business, "As you know, the counselling department is working its way through the crew roster for mandated reviews" she explained as the council of Elrond carried on their own discussion.

"You've landed me," Rosalyn said with a smile.

"Mmm... My kin do not understand Psychology very well. We're telepathic, but we only share thoughts with each other, no outsiders, Counselor. When an entire race understands each other, there are no secrets that other races cling to.. But we did not always use our gifts for the benefit of knowledge, peace, and understanding. Once the Alindari often invaded the minds of others. It was not pleasant as well." She smiled to Ros. "This is my favorite of Human Literature, and I invited you here so you could understand my kin. We share much with Lord Elrond's elves except immortality. Alindari love art and beauty, We're wise, thoughtful, but we're also burdened with great sadness and pain that tear us to this very day."

"As a counsellor, it's not your secrets or lies that interest me. It's the impact and effects of these kinds of things that interest me. Sometimes, we can be honest with ourselves, yet still struggle to process that information healthily, that's where I come in" Rosalyn explained, "I'm glad the setting familiar for both of us though, it would have been a true test of my skill if we'd have been in the middle of a battle" she joked.

"I would be delighted to teach you Counselor. Two centuries ago, when our energy weapons failed us against the borg, we were able to survive and hold them off by using a simple blade." She mentioned. "It is always helpful to know how to fight. I value peace, but I am ready to defend it."

Rosalyn nodded which ended up need to her to return a braid that she had tucked behind her ear, "Starfleet adopted ballistic firearms to combat the Borg at times, sometimes we can only move forwards by looking to the past" she agreed, "tell me more about your people, I admit I'm unfamiliar" Rosalyn urged, her interest genuine.

Arri spoke. "We've only settled our new homeworld just in the last ten years." She noted. "My people are called the Alindari. We are scholars, philosophers, artists and many other things. What defines us is we spend all our lives seeking to improve the individual, and we study all things." She noted. "We put the greatest of care int the mental, and cultural development of all our people. Some describe us as 'one great university.'" Arri chuckled. "That is not far removed from the truth."

"Interesting," Rosalyn answered sincerely, "Now, I've got a few questions, nothing too probing, and I'd like it if you could answer them" the Counsellor said as she pulled out a small PADD, "Is that okay?"
