Sami walked into the lounge, another long day of minor detail engineering and Lt. Holt's non-stop bitching at her about every little nitpicky thing he could find to jump on her about behind her. She took a seat at the bar and, before she even ordered, spotted Gallia wearing a beautiful outfit she'd never seen before staring out into the stars, She must've heard about Liorga... Sami figured. She was happy for her mentor, moving up and getting her career back to the heights she'd once reached again, but she felt lost without her and felt terrible about herself for feeling lost...

"What can I get you, miss?" Charlie, the new waitress who had replaced Jessica when she went to work for Ambassador Zhukov, asked.

"Let me get a Dos Equis and a Scotch on the rocks." Sami replied.

Charlie was a little surprised, she'd never seen Sami drinking the hard stuff, let alone Scotch, before. I guess she's expecting Gallia to show up or something... That crazy Scottish chick has a hollow leg or something. "Coming right up."

Less than a minute later, Sami was striding over the Gallia's table with their drinks, "What's up, hotness?" She giggled, "Where'd you get that outfit?"

Lunara looked up, blushing a bit as this stranger suddenly started hitting on her. She looked around to see if she could have been talking to anyone else. "Did... you mean me?" She pointed to herself, confusion crossing her face.

"Umm, sort of." Sami replied, a little embarrassed as she realized this woman was NOT GALLIA, "I mean, at least who I thought you were. Holy crap, you look so much like Gallia..." She set the Scotch down on the table, "Uh, so I guess I inadvertently got this for you."

Lunara chuckled, a look of bemusement on her face. "Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think I'm Gallia." She gestured to the seat across from her. "Hopefully I'm the next best thing, though. Want to join me?"

"Sure." Sami smiled, extending her hand, "Sami Justice, engineer, nice to meet you. Oh, and so you know that it's not an insult Gallia is like my prettiest friend and your hair is like a clone of hers and... And I sound so stupid right now." Sami laughed, "Sorry, I can be a little spazzy when I make an idiot of myself this way."

Lunara chuckled as she shook her hand. "Hey, don't worry about it. I can be ditzy too. I'm Lunara Hol, one of the new counselors here."

"Oh great, making an idiot of myself in front of a counselor. Priceless." Sami laughed, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lunara. And don't worry, I'm not always this much of a ditz. Close sure, but not always."

Lunara grinned. "Well, I guess I can keep this off your record, just this once."

"Thanks." Sami laughed nervously, "So, what do you do for fun? Me, I spend a lot of time on the holodeck, driving a tank with Gallia. Oh, and in the gym." She said, showing off her well defined muscles, "Hard to keep in shape on long cruises if you don't make a point of forfeiting the odd few hours of sleep to get into the gym."

"You don't seem like you've got that problem." Lunara smiled. "A tank, though? Sounds like fun."

"Oh, it's great. Gallia calls ours the Lady Aberdeen and Anje's is Mamacita." Sami said cheerfully, "And we're definitely taking new players since half of both crews, or in Mamacita's case the entire crew, just transferred to the Valkyrie. Maybe you can join us some time."

Lunara chuckled. "Maybe, we'll see. Been awhile since I worked with machines."

Don't know why I'm about to do this.... This is crazy... "So, what about dancing? Do you like to dance?" Sami asked nervously, knowing this was probably a terrible idea, Remember Anje, melonhead! "I mean, I do, I'm not like great or anything, but I have fun. And, you know, like maybe if you wanted to join me or something, we could both have fun."

'Shit', Lunara thought to herself, 'the last person who asked me something like that tried to get me in bed.' "Well..." she started, "I'm not looking for a girlfriend right now, but if you'd still like to dance..." Perim, her last host, was great at that sort of thing, but Lunara doubted she inherited that ability.

"Who says we have to be looking for something?" Sami asked, trying to spin away from rejection, or was it pre-jection for something that she wasn't really looking at, either, at least not before the first date, "I mean, not every time people go out together turns into something. Besides, looking for something is the surest way to never find it, I know."

Lunara felt bad shooting her down like that, she hoped Sami wouldn't take it too hard. "I'm glad you understand." She stood up, stretching out a hand. "Come on! I can't promise I'm nearly as good as I used to be, but we'll just have to see."

"Umm, okay, sure." Sami replied, "Let's go!" She hadn't meant then, having wanted to take time to make herself more presentable, but whatever, no time like the present!

"Hope this isn't too sudden." Lunara looked around, and saw absolutely nothing that would be good for dancing. Oops. Lunara got ahead of herself, again. "I really should have thought this out more. Do they still let the crew play music in the lounge?"

"There's actually a place in the grand ballroom just for that." Sami offered, "Come on, I'll show you the way."

"Grand ballroom?" Lunara was bewildered. "We... have one?" Ships these days were big enough for that? "Let's go, then!"

"Yes! That's the spirit!" Sami agreed, leading Lunara out of the lounge en route to the grand ballroom, excited at where the night might take them.

"Just don't expect too much!" Lunara called after her, "it's been a lifetime since I danced last!"

"Don't expect too much, either." Sami replied, "I just suck."
