Brief Interview with Ms Elisha Pryce-Randal - onboard Ship Reporter

EPR: What is your role on the Elysium? And what does it entail?

LH: Well, I'm one of the ship's counselors! I deal with lots of things - mostly crew checkups, evaluations, and stress counseling - but sometimes I get something that's pretty off the wall.

EPR:How do you handle the pressure that comes with being a Starfleet officer?

LH: Well, I'm in the unique position of having a lot of past experience to draw from. It can be an incredible help, really. Many of the problems I face today, I've dealt with in one of my past lives. Maybe I can't do the exact same thing, but it gives me a good starting point.

EPR: What would you say to a cadet aspiring to do what you do?

LH: Mmm... first, you need to know that neither is as easy as you'd probably like. For being a counselor? Being good at talking to people isn't enough. Some people, you won't get along with - it's inevitable. You can't just tell them to get lost if they come to you as a patient. For Starfleet in general? Know that every day isn't what you see in the recruiting commercials. Sometimes you'll be bored for weeks on end, and sometimes you'll have some particularly bad days. Find a good way to deal with that, and don't be afraid to come see one of us. I promise we don't bite.

EPR: What is your favorite memory of your time at the academy?

...Let's just say there was a huge Betazoid wedding procession outside my dorm room window, and leave it at that. Studying on Betazed was... interesting.

EPR: Do you have any funny tales to tell about your time on the USS Elysium?

Well, I haven't been here that long, but...
