Assembling the Team

Lia sat behind her desk, in her hands a PaDD which stated a member of her department was being held on the planet. She knew that talking to Major Naxea was the next step, between them they would have to assemble an away team to get him back.

Naxea approached the entrance to the main security office and pressed the chime. Her mind was on S'hib and she felt personally responsible for leaving him behind. Now all she could do was do everything she could in order to find him and make those who kidnapped him pay.

Her door chime going off caused Lia to jump, she pressed the open button and was surprised to see Azhul standing there. "Oh hi, were your ears burning? Cause I was just thinking about you". She invited Azhul in and placed her PaDD in front of her, "I need to know what you know about this, and if you can get a team together so we can mount a rescue?" The words tumbled out of her mouth, but she needed to move fast before anything happened to S'hib.

"The Captain did order me to work with you regarding team assignments," Naxea said as she entered the office and took a seat across from Lia. "I was with Ensign S'hib before he was kidnapped. He had invited me on a hike together on the planet and I accepted. However, a little over an hour into the hike, I was called back to the Elysium for the Senior Staff meeting. My plan is to take a team back to the site where Ensign S'hib and I landed and look for him there."

Nodding in approval, Lia replied. "Ok, that appears a good place to start. How large an away team do you intend to take?" She leaned back and continued, "I'm thinking of getting a second team together, there's a small farmstead some distance away. I'll beam down there and search that location, of we combine our searches we should strike lucky". Lia looked at Azhul, "Opinions Major? Your looking as if you disapprove of this plan, if you have an alternative I'm willing to listen".

Naxea shook her head. "No, the plan sounds good. The more we have searching, the better. I...just feel responsible for S'hib. I should have known better than to leave him alone in a remote location."

Lia moved around the desk to stand next to Azhul, "You didn't have any reason to think otherwise, after all as I understand it. This planet is described as a recreational planet, so lets lose the negative thoughts eh?" She placed her hand on Azhul's shoulder, "I need you working on all cylinders Major, and once we get S'hib back. I'm sure you'll both have time to reconsider each others actions, I don't think S'hib will hold any animosity towards you, he doesn't seem the type from what I know of him."

"Very well," Naxea said. "I'll assemble a Marine fireteam and search the crash site. Feel free to use any Marines that you may need while I'm planetside."

"Major, Azhul. Do you mind if I call you Azhul?" She felt she had to make the Major understand something, "I think at this time, you need to shake this guilt complex. Your head isn't in the game, and I don't want you ending up in the same situation. Thanks for the Marines, can I have that firebrand of a Gunny?"

"Sure, I'll inform Gunny Rhodes before I depart," Naxea replied. "And don't worry, whoever took S'hib better hope I don't find them." Anger was now replacing her guilt.

Nodding her head, Lia responded. "Just don't get caught, and keep that anger in check. I don't want to have to come find you."

Naxea nodded. "Don't worry, I can handle myself. If there's nothing else, I should go and get my team together and get to the planet as soon as possible."

Lia returned to her seat, "Ok I'll let you get started. Can you have the Gunny set up say another two Marines, I'll have my Deputy join me and we'll consist the second team. What time are you looking for departure? That way we can co-ordinate our teams, and if push comes to shove we can back the other team up".

"I'm leaving in 15 minutes," Naxea said over her shoulder.

Lia just nodded, "See you planet side, stay safe".

"You too," Naxea replied before heading down the corridor at a brisk walk.
