Security Solutions... Or Maybe Another Argument

Posted on Tue Feb 4th, 2020 @ 5:50am by Chief Warrant Officer Man'darr [Naxea]

Mission: Casperia Prime - A lesson in relaxation
Location: Embassy
Timeline: after Medical Recall
834 words - 1.7 OF Standard Post Measure

Anje had found herself buried under requests from various law enforcement agencies, not to mention hundreds of ships from various powers, about missing persons since she had made the decision to reach out to them about the Casperia Prime situation, ~That might have been a mistake.~ She laughed at herself, raising an eyebrow as she saw a request from the Federation Marshalls for her to answer questions about Aubrey Tate, "Guess anyone who worked with Kerri is now a suspect or a witness." She sighed, sitting back down and replicating a glass of iced tea for herself.

Man'darr, decked out in full combat gear and his pulse rifle slung on left shoulder, knocked on the door. He hoped this meeting went well--they rarely did with diplomatic staff and Marines.

"Come in." Anje called, turning to watch a tank carrying a pulse rifle wander into her officer, "Uh, hi, can I help you?"

"Greetings, ma'am ," Mandar entered, smiling. "I'm Warrant Officer Man'darr from the Elysium. I here to discuss Embassy security until the pirate situation is dealt with."

"Oh, well, shipboard security by Cdr. Holmes is more than adequate, Mr. Man'darr." Anje politely declined, "I'm sure you've got much bigger fish to fry as it were."

"You just said it yourself, ma'am--shipboard security," Man'darr stated, his manner changing to a more serious tone. "Marines are better trained in defending locations such as embassies. As for having bigger fish to fry, there are 120 Marines stationed aboard the Elysium--more than enough to guard the embassy and fry the big fish when the time comes."

"Look, I'll level with you, Mr. Man'darr," Anje began, "my relationship with your CO is.... frosty to say the least and I feel there would be far too much friction between her and I for the trust that would be required between our departments to develop to the point where we could peacefully coexist in the Embassy. I appreciate your concerns, and I have great respect for your skills, but I'm not sure that would be a great idea. Besides that, with this being a shipboard Embassy, I think it would still be under Cdr. Holmes jurisdiction."

Man'darr was now growing annoyed at the woman. Was she really putting her personal feelings before the safety of the embassy? "Envoy Brett, right now my CO is missing...or even dead, leaving me as the ranking officer. It's time to put your personal feelings aside and act like a professional officer that you are supposed to be. Are you seriously going to risk the lives of everyone in the embassy because you and Major Azhul don't see eye to eye?"

"And perhaps it's time for you to put your ego aside, Mr. Man'darr." Anje fired back, "Because you for some reason are burdened with the belief that your small detachment is somehow superior to a much larger detachment of equally well trained professionals. I don't have time for your posturing, Mr. Man'darr, and your insults would only matter if your opinion had any value to me."

"When the average Security Officer has access to Marine Heavy Weaponry, hand to hand combat training, leaders with decades worth of combat experience, heavy armor, is able to do a HALO Orbital jump, then I will withdraw my comment. But do not and cannot. Security is just that--security. They are not trained nor equipped for full scale combat as the Marines are." Man'darr paused for a moment before taking another step closer and looking down at the woman. "If I were insulting you or anyone, you would know it. I am stating facts, period. If my comments don't matter to you, then maybe the deaths of those in this embassy will?" Man'darr turned to head out of the office.

"You have an amazing level of gall." Anje sneered, she'd never met anyone as full of himself as this guy, "People like you are exactly what I do not want here, with the overblown egos and your chest puffed out." ~God, I hate men...~ "For what it's worth, I do hope Major Azhul and the others are returned safely and will be going planetside soon to assist, hopefully we won't see each other there."

"Just stay out of my and the Marines way and let us do what we do best," he replied before stepping out of the door. He could see why the Major couldn't get along with the woman--who could?

"Mister Man'darr, I remind you that you are addressing a superior and will show respect to my rank." Anje snapped, she had had more than enough of this from Azhul's department, "When you see me in future watch your tone or you'll be going back into the enlisted ranks and if you ever set foot in this embassy again I will have professionals from security come and take you into custody. Do I make myself clear?"

Man'darr only chuckled as the stepped through the door. "Good luck with that, Envoy."
