Phoenix had to speak with a doctor, and she was not sure, despite his being her doctor for the past 3 years that talking to the CMO was the best. So she had made an appointment with Lieutenant Voight, the ACMO. She was not one to hide from Medical. Phoenix was one who led by example in that area. So, she was prompt and arrived on time for her appointment.

A nurse showed Phoenix into a private room to wait.

Olivia glanced over the Captain's medical records briefly before heading out of her office and over to the exam room to see what has brought the Captain in to see her. Olivia walked into the exam room where the Captain was waiting. "Hello Captain," Olivia said.

Phoenix smiled. "Hello." She paused as the door closed. "thank you for seeing me on short notice Lieutenant."

"Not a problem," Olivia replied. "It rare for the Captain to come down here willingly. What can I do for you today?"

"i am not the normal run of the mill captain in that regards and I have spent my fair time in medical. Never once checked myself out without doctors permission either." Phoenix took a breath. "I need a blood test run."

Olivia nodded slightly as she listened to the Captain. "That can be done Captain," Olivia replied. "Is there something that I need to be on the look out for in regards to the blood test?"

"I received word from my home world, via back channel sources, that a family member has been diagnosed with Xenopolycythemia. And.. I think given the nature of my job that it is best that I get tested..." She paused and added "I also need a pregnancy test done."

“Both test can be done,” Olivia replied. Olivia turned slightly and started to collect the few needed items to run the two blood tests the Captain had requested. “Once the blood is drawn, hopefully it will not take forever on getting the results back and then go from there any needed treatment depending on the results of the tests.”

Phoenix nodded. "Thank you." she said softly.

After collecting the items she needed, Olivia turned back towards the Captain. “Getting the results on one test will take a few minutes longer than the other,” Olivia replied. “Mainly due to it being a more specialized test.” Olivia prepared the hypospray needle to collect the amount of blood that would be needed for both blood tests. Once once she had the hypospray needle ready, Olivia places it against the Captain’s neck and pressed the button to collect the needed blood.

Olivia removed the hypospray needle from the Captain’s neck once the needed amount of blood had been collected. She then turned towards the try that had a couple items on it already. She pressed a couple buttons on each PADD and a small collection tray slid out from both of them. Olivia placed a set amount of blood in each tray and then pressed a few more buttons on the PADDs so that the trays would retract and start running the needed tests.

Phoenix sat on the bio bed kicking her feet back and forth. "So how are you finding life on the USS Elysium?"

"I'm still getting used to a few things and getting to know some of the crew," Olivia replied. "I'm sure I will get settled into a full routine before to much longer." One of the PADDs beeped indicating that it had the results ready. Olivia turned to get the results.

Phoenix tensed as she did so but she could not bring herself to ask.

Olivia picked up the PADD that had the results of the pregnancy test and turned back towards the Captain. "Well it looks like we have one plan of care to set up for you Captain," Olivia said. "You have the option of setting up the regular check up visits with the individual of your choice in getting you through the next few months." Olivia turned the PADD so that the Captain could see the results for herself. "Your pregnant."

Her hands were shaking as she took the PADD. "Well, at least this time, I will be on a ship, instead of on a planet with no medical care." she mused out loud. "Sorry, memories of a mission a long while ago, Temporal in nature." Phoenix looked at Olivia. "I would like you to be the doctor of record for this, if that is ok."

"I'm alright with that," Olivia replied. "If you ever want to talk any about the other time, I'm willing to listen. Just let me know and I will make sure to be available for the talk." The other PADD beeped indicating that the results were available now for the other test that was run. Olivia turned to pick up the PADD and looked it over. "Well this particular test shows negative for the Xenopolycythemia."

Phoenix smiled at that. "That's good. My race has a high rate of that illness, and it at times flows in family lines. My maternal Aunt has it." She paused. "How far along am I in the pregnancy?"

"I will make a note of that in your medical chart," Olivia replied. "That way when your normal yearly physical comes due it will be one of the things we check for just to be sure that it hasn't shown up in your system." Olivia pulled up another copy of the pregnancy test results to look them over a bit more. "You are currently 7 weeks pregnant. By your next visit that we schedule, we can do the first ultrasound to see the baby and potentially find out the gender of your baby should you want to know the gender."

"I think I'd like to be surprised about the gender" Phoenix said softly. "When would you like me back?"

"Well I will make sure not to spoil the surprise on the gender," Olivia replied. "We can set up an appointment for 4 weeks and then go from there on your other regular pregnancy check up visits. If anyone starts asking why your coming down here so much before your ready to tell them, I'm sure you can get creative on the reason for the visits."

"Yes I will have to be. Custom among my people is not to speak of it until you are 15 weeks." Phoenix said softly.

"Each race has their own custom when it comes to revealing something of this nature," Olivia said. "Just had a thought, for when and if anyone ask about your frequent trips here to Sickbay. Just tell them we are discussing possible training options for new recruits and cadets."

"sounds good. The.. father will be with me next time." Phoenix smiled. She hopped down off the bio bed. "Thank you for your time and the assistance."

"I would be worried if the father didn't show up with you to some of these appointments," Olivia replied. "Also, remember to get plenty of rest and eat well Captain. Both plays a part in you having a healthy baby."

"I will. Thank you." Phoenix smiled and slipped from the room, and headed back to her cabin to track down the father to tell him the news.
