Mission: INTERMISSION: Rebuild, Reuse, Recycle
Location: Deck 18 - Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: Present
564 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Kara had just finished the engineering briefing package and completed her departmental meeting. Which meant, she was now officially off duty for the rest of the day and tomorrow morning. She hopped into the turbolift from main engineering. "Computer, Bridge please."

Arriving a few moments later onto the bridge, she skipped past the on-duty crew towards the Captain's ready room, pressing the chime. almost nervously picking her finger nails as she held her hands behind her back. ~I hope she doesn't think I've gone mad...~

"Come in!" Phoenix called out as she read yet another report. She looked up as Kara entered. "Lieutenant. What can I do for you?"

Kara walked in and stood at attention. "Hello Captain, thank you for seeing me. I realise you're quite busy. I apologise for turning up unannounced like this."

"Thats quite alright Lieutenant.Have a seat and tell me what is on your mind."

Kara nodded, and moved to sit herself. ~The captain has such comfortable chairs.~ She thought to herself. "Captain, I have a small favour to ask. I realise none of this will happen until we return from our mission. When we return, from our excursion to the void. Would you perhaps?" She paused. "What I mean to say, would you...Be willing to marry Gallia and I?" Kara smiled and watched her Captain carefully and expectantly.

"It couldn't...shouldn't be done by anyone else, I think. I wouldn't allow anyone else but you to do it, if I'm being quite blunt."

Phoenix smiled faintly. She opened a desk drawer and pulled out a PADD. She checked it. "Ok, sure. You guys pick a date and I will do it. But make sure its not at the same time as other people. I have to marry another couple in three months."

Kara nodded. "Of course. I'll sort out the finalised date with Gallia and let you know as soon as We've discussed it. Thanks, Captain."

Kara paused. "Now that's over with. I can relax a little. Without sounding out of place, i hope...can I ask how you're doing? I...might have overheard there's been alot of stress on you recently, I just mean, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you I know you'd do the same for anyone here, but who looks out for you? Y'know?" ~Shit. I just shot my mouth off without even thinking~ Kara silently kicked herself, she forgot for a moment, she was speaking with her commanding officer, not a fellow lieutenant. ~Is it even allowed to ask how a Captain is feeling if you're not a Doctor?~ She wondered.

"I am well Kara, thank you." Phoenix said with a smile. "Keeping busy helps."

"I'm glad. I should probably leave you to your work, Phoenix." Kara stood and nodded to her Captain with a smile. Kara had chosen this one time, to address her Captain by her first name. She couldn't exactly explain or understand why she did it, it just felt like the right thing to do.

She saluted and quickly turned on one foot, to leave the Captains office, before the Captain had a chance to pull rank on her. ~I'm cheeky, to be a sure. Time to have a chat with Gallia.~ She thought, moving into the turbolift.

"Have a good day Lieutenant." Phoenix called out as the doors slid shut.
