Alena sat in a modest chair before an elegant desk and waited for several groups of diplomats to enter with Nikita at her side. She smiled at Nikita. The five that will be entering are from the four major powers in the Typhon Sector, Including us.

"Sounds great." Nikita replied, straightening his tie and trying to appear presentable, or more like believable, as the consort of a head of state.

She smiled. "The Alain are religious... everything they do has to conform to some complex and very vague prophecy from their High-Prophetesses which can change based on the 'flow of time.'" Alena smirked. "We Alindari find that amusing, but we're not here to tease today. Nikita."

"My grandmother is Russian Orthodox, all the way to her core." Nikita replied with a smile, "So I know how people's beliefs can be strong."

"The Vorkak and the Khar. Two former advesaries that ended their feud when the Hobus Star Exploded. Rather than wipe each other out, they've tentively agreed to survive." Alena noted. "We might as well put a targ in the same room as a Ghrishnar Cat. The Vorkak are open to trade relations with pretty much anyone, but it's the Khar that accuses the Vorkaka with doing business with the Ferengi." Alena explained. "The Khar once had a mining treaty with a renown Ferengi Daimon that was involved in bribery and vice with their former government, a revolution took place and the first thing the new Khar government did was to execute every Ferengi and 'corrupt government official.' from their Chancellor right down to the poor guy sweeping the floor in one single day of uninhibited revolutionary fevor." Alena mentioned. "They view the fight against corruption as a divine purge. And thus far we've managed to keep an uneasy peace with them."

"Wow, those guys are severe." Nikita shuddered, wondering what level of corruption the poor bastard sweeping the floor could've been guilty of.

"And finally the Romulan Ambassador and the Federation Ambassador. I find T'Keva to be something of a splendid mystery to unravel. She watches us, we watch her, the Federation Starfleet Intelligence agent on Ambassador Thomas' staff watches her... and the Tal'Shiar agent that mascarades as T'Keva's Sister spies on everyone." Alena mentioned with a grin.

Had this been before, Nikita would've doubtless been overwhelmed by the beauty of the two Romulan women, but in the presence of his Empress, they paled to almost nothingness, "Okay, so I'll keep an eye on her." He said, remembering something his grandmother said about Romulans, a gun in every hand and a lie in every mouth.

Alena spoke. "Good Afternoon ladies and gentlemen." The Alain Grand Minister spoke. "Have you pondered my proposal?" Alena gave a slight smirk. "Yes, and I will not be joining the Faith of the Eternal Prophecy, Minister. But I do have all respect for your Prophecies."

The Khar spoke. "Pfft... Religion. A bastion for the weak minded."

"Or people willing to see the universe from all points of view Ambassador." Alena countered. "Now lets move on to the matter at hand. Since Ambassador T'Keva can no longer guarantee patrols in this area, we are left with the obligation of Security in the Typhon Expanse."

Ambassador Franklin Thomas spoke. "I'm sure Starfleet will do its utmost to maintain security in this sector, Lady Althir."

"The Federation's utmost may not be enough." The Vorkak Ambassador noted. "The Orions have been moving into this sector."

The Khar Ambassador spoke. "And who do we have to thank for that?"

"'You can't make a deal when you're dead.'" Alena quoted the Rules of Acquisition. "The Ferengi would treat any alliance with the Orions at an arms length. I can assure, you. The Honorable Vorkak Republic may trade with the Ferengi, but they are not a syndicate." Alena mentioned.

"Starfleet will do everything in their power to protect our Alindari allies." Nikita spoke up, knowing it was probably a breach of protocol to do so, but feeling compelled, "I am intimately connected with the next Federation President, and I know she is committed to preserving the peace and security of the Alindari Empire."

"He speaks truly. The federation will do its part." Alena noted. "We must follow the Federation's example. If Starfleet fields five starships in the expanse. We must match that with five of our own. Between us, we will have twenty-five ships patrolling our sector." Alena noted. "This alone will make the Orions reconsider their ambitions." The ambassadors pondered this.

"This could work." The Khar representative noted.

"Bah." The Vorkak noted. "So you can execute freighter crews for being guilty of anything?"

"Then I suggest we permit the Federation legal system to deal with these criminals. All held under suspicion of piracy will be tried in the Federation." The Alain Grand Minister noted. "I would rather the Federation have these criminals than to let you two bicker over details while Orion Terror becomes prophecy."

"The Khar agrees."

"The Vorkak Agrees."

"The Alindari Empire agrees. What say the Federation Ambassador?"

The Federation Ambassador spoke. "I don't see a problem. A neutral party to attend to legal matters in interstellar space would be beneficial to this sector.

Alena spoke. "Until next time." The assembly adjourned.

"The Alain were unusually quiet, Nikita." Alena put her hand on her chin.

"Maybe they just needed to pray about it." Nikita shrugged, placing a hand on his girlfriend's shoulder comfortingly, "Or maybe they just had nothing to add. Though, twenty five vessels in this small section of space, that might make anyone reconsider their ambitions."

Alena smirked and stood. Producing a basketball, she began bouncing it. "The Alain's High-Prophet wants to convert me. The Khar wants me to conduct a purge. The Vorkak wants me to sell Sena Alindar to them. And the Romulans want the Federation gone and vice verse." She bounced the ball and bumped it with her head. "You know I'm no one's stooge." She smiled.

"You're doing a great job, baby." Nikita replied, dribbling the basketball between his legs a la Allen Iverson, suddenly unsure if he should be addressing Alena, an empress just doing her official duties as 'baby', but it was out there now.

"Thank you sweetheart." Alena noted as she folded over Nikita and stole the ball. "Even if we are Federation Members, watch their Ambassador. Much happens behind the scenes with friends, but much more happens with T'Keva and Ambassador Daniel Thomas. She's getting too friendly with him." The Empress stole a kiss from him. "I may have to request another Ambassador if this keeps up due to lack of 'professional behavior.' He thinks our intelligence dose not know about his late night rendezvous' Maybe I'll send that knowledge on to Madame Zhukov." Alena threw the ball towards a hidden hoop in the throne room. "It would indeed be valuable for the next President of the Federation to know the state of the people working for her."

"You don't think Thomas is selling us out do you?" Nikita asked earnestly, this was something Grandma needed to know about if he was.

Alena smiled and pulled out a elegantly decorated PADD.

To Adm. Zhukov
From: HIM Alena Althir
Subject FYI and Intelligence Clearance.

Suprise!!!

**Level 1 Clearance to the Defense College Special School of Intelligence Granted.**

Oh and look into Ambassador Daniel Thomas' activities when you're enjoying your new clearance.

Love,

Alena.

P.S. Nikita is wonderful. Don't worry. I'll treat him right.

Alena hit the send button.

"Wow, that's a lot of birds killed with that one stone, impressive." Nikita let out a low whistle, most impressed by how casually she informed his grandmother, a fearsome and intimidating woman even by comparison to Klingons, of their relationship, "She's going to be watching that like a hawk now, you know?"

"Good Nikita, she keeps her eyes open, especially when she becomes president because a lot of people will want her favor. Know this. There are those who are great... those who achieve greatness.... and then there's girls who only wanted to play basketball, and inherited her father's crown." Alena winked. "But I do it because we finally have a world and have built new cities. I'm doing my part. Sweetie."

"So, let's see what these cities have to offer." Nikita suggested, "Put on something sexy and we'll go out."
