Mission: Season 3: Episode 4: Cause and Effect
Location: Casper’s Office
1632 words - 3.3 OF Standard Post Measure

Olivia was taking a short break during her shift to grab a little something to eat as well as make a pit stop by a certain office to make plans for later on hopefully with a certain individual that she had reconnected with after being separated from him for several years. Knowing how Casper was at times during their first duty station together as well as when they were still at the Academy she knew that he would skip meals at times, so she was going to make sure to get him some food as well while in the mess hall.

Mess Hall

Walking into the mess hall, Olivia headed over to the counter to place her order to go. She looked over the menu for a few minutes to see what was being offered. After looking things over, Olivia placed an order for burgers, french fries, and milkshakes for both of them. She knew that it had been awhile since either of them had shared this type of meal and it would be fun to share it again after so long of time. Plus it was something quick that they could enjoy together right now as well. After waiting a short time, Olivia headed out of the mess hall with the food she had just picked up and headed towards Casper’s office.

CDID Office

Olivia walked into the main part of the office where Casper worked and looked around for him. She hadn’t visited his office space before now so she wasn’t sure which of the private offices was his right then.

"Can I help you Ma'am," A male stated walking up to her. He could tell that she was lost, he chalked it up to another new member getting lost on the vessel.

Olivia turned and spotted someone coming towards her. "I'm looking for Lt Casper Thornhill," Olivia said.

"Oh. Down here you'll see him in his office. It will be on the right," the Crewman said stepping out of the way.

"Thank you," Olivia replied as she headed down towards Casper's office. She stopped at the door that was for Casper's office and opened it up and smiled a bit. "Just what are you reading over this time?"

"If I told you I would have to hack up your body into tiny little pieces and then give then make it look like a shuttle accident occurred with me being the only one that would been able to escape just clinging to life by a thread but enough to know not to implicate me in anything," Casper replied to her question without looking up from the PaDD he was reading. He knew it was her and that she wouldn't go running away to tell Security of the threat as he also knew that he could never bring himself to doing such a horrible act on her.

Finishing off the paragraph he was on he looked up at her and smiled, "What's up. I missed you the other day when I came to get my tracker."

Olivia walked further into Casper's private office and placed their food onto his desk. "You must of come in while I went to grab something for my late lunch," Olivia replied. "I figured I'd check up on you to make sure your staying out of trouble for a change. Plus I figured we could do a little more catching up over lunch at the same time."

"What your saying Medically is, 'I know your overworked and when you get overworked you don't eat as often so I am here to ensure that my friend and colleague stays fed,' he replied as reached out for one of the burgers and slowly brought it over to in front of himself.

Olivia softly laughed a bit. "That is one way of putting it," Olivia replied. "Plus, it goes to show you how well I know your habit of skipping meals when it comes to getting work done. Some things haven't changed. Besides if I didn't look after you then who would?" Olivia pulled one of the chairs a bit closer to the desk so that she could sit down and enjoy her burger as well while they did some more catching up.

"My body would have forced me to eat at some point in time... I think," he took a big bite of the burger and relished in it's taste, "how is the Void transit treating the crew?"

"Some are handling the stress a bit better than others," Olivia replied. "It a learning curve so to speak for some, for it is an experience that is something that it is hard to prepare for at times." Olivia took a bite of her burger then.

"Well it is always hard when your used to looking out and seeing stars out there," Casper replied after finishing a mouth full. He himself was a little unsettled by it and had thought of sleeping in his office a few times, he even went as far to measure out his window to see if he could put up curtains but he thought someone somewhere would have an issue with it if they found out.

"True," Olivia replied, "but finding certain activities can help in the distraction to keep your mind of things." Olivia took another bite of her burger. After swallowing, she picked up her milkshake and took a sip. "You up for a distraction tonight after shift?"

"What did you have in mind?" Casper asked looking at Olivia.

"I was thinking of actually cooking dinner tonight," Olivia replied. "I'm considering baked spagetti or lasagna. Then again I could always do something else."

"Lasagna sounds good," William replied after draining half his milk shake in one sitting, "Watch a movie after?"

"Sounds good to me," Olivia replied. "I will work on making the lasagna once I get to my quarters after shift. Just make sure that your not late for dinner." Olivia took another bite of her burger.

"What happens if I am late?" he inquired.

Olivia swallowed her bite of burger and took a sip of her milk shake. "If you should be late," Olivia said, "you risk not getting the lasagna as well as the rest that I plan on fixing with it. So you had best not be late."

"Yes, Ma'am." Casper replied finishing off the rest of his burger. He could feel energy flow back into his body from the food, he didn't think he had been that hungry.

Olivia smiled as she reached over and lightly swiped a small amount of the milk shake off of Casper's lower lip. "What do you have in mind for the movie tonight?," Olivia asked.

"I'll have a think about it and then let you know," he replied with a smile.

"Keeping me in suspense just like you did back when we were at the Academy," Olivia replied and stuck her tongue out at Casper. Olivia got up from her seat and moved over to where Casper was seated, pushed him back slightly from his desk and sat down in his lap.

"Hi," he replied laughed.

"Now aren't you glad I came by to check up on you?," Olivia asked as she settled into Casper's lap.

"Well of course," he said with a smile but then got serious, "But were both on duty and if I get caught like this there will be hell to pay."

"You are on meal break per doctor orders," Olivia replied. "Plus we are in the privacy of your office instead of being out in public right now. So neither of us can get into that much trouble for keeping the affection for one another to a minimum in public while on duty." Olivia leaned forward and lightly kissed Casper on the cheek. "So what else can I do to help relieve some of your stress?"

"Tonight... I promise... I have a cat that likes to just tease me relentlessly on stuff," he said looking into her eyes.

"You mean you got a cat and didn't tell me?," Olivia asked. "What did you name your cat?"

"A cat as in a Caitian. Her name is M'Tuuri Sh'iss like all cats she like things a certain way. So this will have to wait for tonight," he winked at her, "and it will be better I promise."

Olivia softly laughed a bit. "I've met her," Olivia replied. "She came in for her physical when she first came on board. M'Tuuri is definately the type to keep you on your toes when I'm not around." Olivia lightly darted her tongue over Casper's lips once more. "I plan on holding you to it on making it up to me tonight when you come for dinner."

"Wouldn't miss it for the universe," he replied with a smile.

Olivia slowly moved to get up from Casper's lap. "I will see you later and you had best be on time and prepared to make it up to me when you arrive," Olivia said. "Otherwise you are going to be in trouble."

"Always gotta keep my Doctor happy or else may wake up one day missing an organ or a digit or something," he smiled at her.

"Among other things that could end up happening to you," Olivia replied with a mischievous smile. "I will see you after shift. Just make sure that you arrive on time."

"Yes, Ma'am" he replied.

Olivia smiled as she headed for the office door. "Also make sure you stay out of trouble," Olivia said. "I'd hate to have to end up patching you up and it ruin our date night tonight."

"You know me," he called out again as she left through the door. Casper turned back to his computer and got back to work.
