- Corridor -

Devin blinked at the door plaques she was on the wrong deck again. She muttered under her breath and turned around to head for the lift. She was in uniform, her hair was pulled back in a braid and wrapped around her head. It was dyed royal blue and had a few scarlet red highlights. She was among the newest transfers to the Elysium and she knew it was bound to happen that she would get a bit lost, this ship was huge in comparison to the USS Eagle -F.

On her daily patrol, alone however River was casually strolling the halls of the Elysium her mind lost in thought about S'hib, Azhhul and even about the department drinks Fernando had invited her too. She wasn't really paying attention when she hit something squishy, "Ooph!"

Devin yelped as she got quite literally stepped on. She jumped back, her back against the bulkhead, she had raised her hands ready for a fight, her Amber brown eyes searching for the cause of the collision. She looked up the features of a taller black haired young woman, whose jade green eyes made her blink a few times in surprise. "I know I am petite but I'm definitely not see through. Are you okay?" She asked more confused than hurt, though she was certain she would see some bruises later.

"I hope that you're not planning on engaging me in combat" River looked the shorter woman up and down and she quickly decided any form of combat would likely break the woman in front of her. "I highly recommend against it." She added already hearing both Fernando and S'Hib sighing in unison, ever since she had arrived here both were trying to teach her a lesson in humility and get to better know people instead of fighting them or shun them. She rolled her eyes, "I am Ensign River Lokaa, I am sorry for stepping... I mean walking into you, are you injured?"

Devin blinked at the taller woman, jade eyed woman, as she hadn't lowered her hands yet, "Might challenge you to a sparring match sometime later." She lowered her hands and stood her full four feet and eleven inches, "Devin Codi xi'Indrai Lieutenant junior grade." She added after a moment, "Intelligence department." Devin wasn't used to telling her specific job and since she didn't know this Ensign River Lokaa yet she feel bad for not explaining further.

"You appear Human, yet your name suggests Andorian." She said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Your hair is also blue not white." River pointed out quite stoically. 'River, you're supposed to be making friends... remember S'hibs voice again reminding her to play nice. "So, Lieutenant xi'Indrai" The Elasian started pronouncing her name flawlessly having studied Andorian during her time at the academy, "Where are you heading? You seem, lost."

"Human born and raised on Andor, thank you." She said as she regarded the taller woman, "I have to head to Intelligence to report to my superior and get started on whatever assignment might be in order." No sense beating around the bush she was lost and new to the ship.

"I will show you the way, I haven't met anyone from that department yet but I hear they are an interesting bunch." River stepped off and back the way the not Andorian woman had come from, "Intelligence Department is on Deck 31, this is deck 35. You were in the right ballpark." River had memorised the ship's schematics like the palm of her hands before she even stepped foot on the ship, this intelligence officer was clearly not as well prepared or just didn't care... Not very intelligent she thought.

Devin could imagine the thought that was likely going through the other's head, that she hadn't prepared or something. She had been reading about the ship, but hadn't put it to complete memory yet. Not that it mattered much right then, she wasn't going to waste time over trivial things. "Thank you, last ship I was on had twelve decks." It had more Andorion crew then human, and a few Caitian, one Cardassian officer.
By comparison this ship had more species then she had encountered during her academy cross training. She had been reading more about the crew the ship.

"This is my first ship" River replied the turbo-lift coming into view, "So you were raised on Andoria, that must have been interesting it's on my... what is it humans call it 'Bucket list?' I've never understood the saying very odd, like humans really. Anyway, I hear it's beautiful." The turbolift doors opened as they approached two science officers exited and River greeted them with a smile.

Devin knew the term mostly thanks to her human roommates during academy cross training, "I haven't made a bucket list yet," as the officers passed them by she noticed that they were watching River closely, before they turned around, "It's beautiful and still wild in places in comparison to Earth which has way too many cities for my taste." She said lightly as the lift doors closed after them, "Where are you from if I may ask?"

"You may ask, "River responded before giving the computer the command to take them to the correct deck the Lieutenant was looking for. "I am an Elasian from Elas, we are a warrior people and our society is a little backward which is why I struggle to make friends and people look at me like I have two heads or something, that and my biochemical tears scare all the wives and girlfriends on this ship. They seem to think I'm going to infect their boyfriends and husbands and enslave them... I haven't decided if I want to or not yet." She said her voice with a slight hint of teasing.

Devin nodded her head, "So basically if things go to hell in their relationships they try blaming you because of your tears affects? That's pretty petty but way I grew up there's usually four folks in the relationship." Devin said evenly, "Thanks for helping me out. Maybe we can compare fighting styles sometime?" Knowing that the taller jade eyed woman was from a warrior race was welcome to Devin since maybe she could actually get a fair sparring partner.

She shrugged, "I have a thick skin." The doors to the turbo lift opened revealing a coridoor that looked identical to the one they just left behind. "So its along the coridoor, second right and three quarters of the way up. There is your offices." She explained not leaving the lift expecting the much shorter woman to leave. “Maybe, we'll see about sparring."

Devin stepped out of the lift, "Thanks for the help Ensign River Lokaa," she followed the directions voiced by the Elasian woman. Later she would be learning the layout for herself.
