Posted on Thu Sep 24th, 2020 @ 6:43am by Lieutenant Scott Gregory [Taylor] & Lieutenant Sapphire Morgan [Lalor]

Mission: Season 3: Episode 5: Shoreleave
Location: USS Elysium- Various
Timeline: MD1
1074 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Sapphire finished her packing and slung her duffel over her shoulder. she had plans to spend a week in Cairo with her mother and then, she would look at spending some time finishing off any paperwork. Exiting her cabin she moved to the turbolift.

At that precise moment Scott was also heading for the lift. He was looking forward to spending some time in Hawaii, do some hiking. some laying out on the beach and just seeing the sights in a word.... relaxing. As he neared the lift he saw Sapphire. "Hi Sapphire!, getting ready to start your shore leave?"

She turned and smiled. "Yes, you?" she asked as the lift arrived for them.

He nodded excitedly, "Yes, headed to Hawaii for at least a couple of days, then we'll see where my wandering tendencies decide to lead me. Where are you going?"

"Cairo to begin with. My mother is there at the family home."
Sapphire entered the lift.

"Cairo? Oh wow." He said in awe. " Are you going to do any exploring?" He asked interested in what Sapphire was going to do while on shore leave.

"No, not really. I grew up there, I am going to spend some time by the pool, read, catch up on family business. I have a board meeting to go to."

"Oh. I see. Well, I'm going to do some hiking, also lay in the sun and see the sights and If I have time, I'll see what else I can get into. I know one thing, I'm just going to relax."

"Yes I fully agree with that. Nothing better after that mission we just had."

"Man! You said a mouthful Sapphire. Never want to hear anything about the Middle Ages. I am more than happy to be home." Scott answered happily.

"I hear that one of those we 'rescued' could not wait to get back to sonic showers. The usage in her cabin was pretty extreme."

Scott laughed at the thought. "I bet. It's amazing how accustom we become to things like sonic showers when back where we came from it was running cold water. You only warm water if you were a noble and had one of your servants heating it."

"Yeah and she was a noble in that time." Sapphire smiled as they exited the lift. "Still, I don't blame her at all. "

"No, I suppose I don't either. You do what you have to do to survive." Scott answered as he stayed back to let Sapphire exit the lift first.

"Her companion on the other hand, hope he gets the book thrown at him." Sapphire paused. "I get the fact that they were stranded, but still trying to change things is plain wrong."

"I'm not defending what he tried to do but maybe he didn't see any other option and he was trying to make things better for them." Scott suggested. "I mean you never know what you're going to do until you are in that situation."

"While that is true, I think if someone told me that they wanted me to explore the VOID again, I might resign" Sapphire commented.

"You won't get any argument from me there Sapphire. I don't even want to hear the word void ever again under any circumstances." Scott readily agreed.

"I saw the Captain leave the ship earlier today. She was in a hurry, I think she agrees with us about the VOID."

"Do you blames her?" Scott asked. "She's probably like the rest of us. Wants to put as much distance between her and the VOID."

"Believe me, I have never blamed the Captain." Sapphire smiled. "So are you taking a shuttle down or beaming?"

Scott hesitated in giving his answer. He liked Sapphire, liked talking with her. "What are you going to do?" He asked.

"Shuttle" She replied. "There is no beaming padd within range of my home."

"Oh. I guess I'll take a shuttle as well. They can drop me off at the hotel in Hawaii. That's if you don't mind sharing a shuttle?" Scott questioned.

"No I do not mind." She smiled.

"Wonderful! Then what are we waiting for?" Scott replied, "Lets go."

They moved off down the halls to the shuttlebay where shuttles were prepping for launch. they spoke to one of the pilots and boarded the shuttle.

Scott helped Sapphire with getting her bag secure before he secured his. He then sat next to her, "You know. I hope it doesn't rain. That would be the pits if it rained."

"Hmm maybe. Cairo rarely gets rain but its always nice when it does." She smiled. "But in Hawaii I can see why rain is not wanted."

"I bet it is. "Scott replied, "Have you been to Hawaii before Sapphire?"

"Yes, My family has a property there." She smiled. "Morgan Engineering Corps has been around for centuries and has a number of properties around the globe."

"Oh, that is so cool! Scott replied to Sapphire's statement. "Bet it's nice to have homes all over the world."

"Sometimes. Have you ever heard the term, where there is a Will there is a relative.?"

"No, can't say I have but obviously it pertains to your family. You have lots of relatives Sapphire?"

"Yes but mainly it was my older siblings. They are and were, one has since passed, very greedy. And they do not like the fact that certain places were left to certain people. Having the family we have, is great, but causes issues."

"I'm sorry about that. Greed does terrible things to people. They will turn on their own flesh and blood. To get something they think their entitled to." Scott said softly.

"yes but that is life. Every time someone says 'the human race has changed' I roll my eyes." She shrugged. A slight bump and they were through the atmosphere.

"That's true too." Scott agreed. "Why can't some adults act like adults?"

"Because its not in their nature" She quipped.

The pilot announced over the system that the first stop was 2 minutes away.

"Sounds like we're coming up on my stop." Scott said reaching for his bags. I hope you have a great time at home and say, don't forget we still have to do dinner once we're back on the Elysium."

"Sounds like fun" She smiled. "Enjoy your vacation Scott."

"Thank you Sapphire, you too." Scott replied waving at her as he got ready to disembark the shuttle.
