A figure silently entered the torture chamber. They hadn't begun to torture the figure inside. he drew closer and looked at her.
Captain Phoenix Lalor hung suspended inside the chamber. Her arms and legs pulled wide. Her head hung down making it look
like she was asleep. He looked around, no guards. He had a few minutes to try and free her.

He opened the door and stepped inside. "Captain Lalor?" He whispered. As he drew close to her.

Her head came up and she stared at him. "Oh now this explains a lot" she muttered "What do you want?"

He looked at her, confusion on his face. "What? I'm here to help you Captain. I'm Lovejoy, Garrett Lovejoy. W only have a few minutes before the guards come back."

"you? Help me? into something that isn't a court-marshal?" She frowned. "Weren't you the one who was on FNS the other day lambasting me?"

"Captain I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm with the resistance. I understand your confusion but it's true." He told her.

She shook her head to clear it. It was slowly coming together. "Look.. forgive me but your... your other self and i ... not friends"

"Then he's an idiot Captain." Lovejoy replied. He looked at her and came around to stand in front of her, so she could see him better and he could get a better look at the binds that held her captive.

"no argument there" She muttered. "So... how do you plan to free me?"

A low chuckle escaped his lips, "That is excellent question Captain." He replied as he looked at her binds that held her securely. "Your binds look secure Captain. How do they feel? I apologize for the stupidity of the question."

"Rather tight" Phoenix said softly. "And if i shift, they constrict."

"Hmmm." He mused. "Something new the Empire has been working on. A new magnetic restraint system." He peered at where they fastened around her wrists and ankles. "Designed to flex and move as you do. Nor can you pull your hand or foot through them. They definitely don't want you going anywhere."

"I am getting that" she smiled faintly.

"Yes. I'm sure you are. The Empire has a knack for building and designing restraints. You unfortunately are getting a fist hand look at their talent" He quipped and reached into his pocket and pulled out a small metallic object. "Lets see what we can do with this. "He said to the suspended Phoenix. He placed in against a leg shackle where it fastened around her ankle and waited.

There was no reaction. "No nothing..." She said softly.

"Let me try again." He brought the device down, made some adjustments and placed in back on her ankle shackle. "Come on baby! Work!" He urged the device. Time seemed to slow to a crawl until it beeped and flashed red and Phoenix's bonds remained securely locked. "Damn!" He said looking up at her, Must be a new encryption lock." He sighed and began making adjustments to the device. He had to get Phoenix out of that booth!

Phoenix paused before speaking. "I think someone is coming" she hissed

"What!? That can't be right! I still have close to ten minutes." Garrett said but nonetheless ducked out of sight as the footsteps drew closer. It was a security officer by he was just checking on the prisoner. Making sure she wasn't going anywhere. Satisfied Phoenix was secure and escape impossible he turned and walked away. Garrett waited until the footsteps fade away before coming out of hiding. He wasted no time putting the device on Phoenix's other ankle shackle. However after several agonizing seconds the results were the same and Phoenix's binds remained securely locked. He looked up at her, "Um... maybe they've loosened enough so you can pull your wrists and ankles through." He suggested half heartily. "Try Captain." He urged her.

She tried but gave a gasp of pain. "I don't think this is going to work."

"Okay. Stop I don't want you to dislocate a wrist or an ankle. Let me think The electronic lock pick isn't working. You can't pull your wrists or ankles through. I need a plasma torch but I don't have time to cut you out of your binds." He looked up at her.

"Thats ok" she assured him. "I need to find out why they are here anyway."

Captain, it isn't okay! Your a helpless prisoner." Garrett protested. He felt utterly useless. he had to think of something to free Phoenix.

"unable to get free is correct, but I have faith my team will find us. You best go before you are caught"

"Let me try the lock pick again." Garrett suggested and did jus that. Like every time before it failed to release Phoenix's bind and she remained locked in them, suspended in an agonizer chamber. Things didn't look good.

"Garrett, you need to go. There will be other ways and other times. Just go" Phoenix hissed

He started to protest but he knew she was right. He had tried to rescue her but it didn't pan out ,,,, this time. Didn't mean there wasn't going to be a next time and it would be successful. He silently promised himself. He looked at her suspended there. "I'll be back Captain with help and we'll get you out of that. Just don't give up!" He urged and with a final look at Phoenix and her helplessness. He turned and left the chamber mere seconds before the guard returned. "Still hanging around I see." He said laughing at his lame joke.

He shook his head at Phoenix's silence as he began to turn the power on to the booth. The Terran Captain was about to experience first hand the exquisite pain of the booth. Her screams would be heard throughout the ship.
