Checking in with counsel

Posted on Mon Mar 22nd, 2021 @ 2:00pm by Ensign Andrew Carey & Lieutenant Tate Sullivan Ph.D.

Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Counsellors Office
Timeline: Current
556 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Andy walked up to the door, his first order of business was to get his mind checked. It was annually needed, or when arriving on a new posting. This being his first posting, this meant both applied. He walked up to the door, paused a moment, wondering if this was really a right time to actually come, there were plenty of crew that still probably need more assistance than he did, after reading what happened. But instead of turning, he knocked on the door.

Hearing the knock rather than the chime, Tate looked up from her computer and wondered who could be visiting her with such a unique opening. Moving to the door, she hit the sensor and smiled at her new arrival. She didn't recognize him, but saw no reason to be impolite. "Hello. May I help you?"

Andy smiled, "Lt, I am ensign Carey, armoury officer here on the elysium. Just given this post. I read that at each new posting a psych evaluation is required to remain on duty."

"You read that correctly," Sullivan replied, stepping back and gesturing for him to have a seat in any one of her available chairs in her office's seating area. "Welcome to the Elysium."

"Thank you Lt." He replied as he took the seat. Handing her a padd, "This is information from my last psyche test from the academy."

Tate accepted the information with a smile. "Thank you. Please, come in and make yourself comfortable." She gestured to the various seating options in her office for him to choose from. The information would be useful, but for now Sullivan preferred to get to know him herself rather than read other people's impressions of him. "How are you finding the ship?" The counselor asked, moving over to the replicator.

Andy looked around, and paused as he chose the middle seat. "Ship is quite big. A bit more than I expected for me first assignment. With a ship of this caliber, I hope I can do it justice."

"It's quite common for people to feel anxious when they first come aboard," Tate offered. "Is there something in particular off the top of your head that you aren't sure about?"

Andy thought about it, "Actually, it was just to report in, i know I took a while, but i figured seeing as a lot of other officers probably needed it given your last mission."

"That's very true," Tate replied with a nod. "We had a difficult mission recently. I have to say, though, it is nice not to have to chase someone down for their required psychological evaluation. Have you met with your supervisor yet?"

"Actually no." Andy replied. "Thats on my to do list. I figured I would get accustomed to the armoury and show how I am through my work first... its something my father always said."

Sullivan smiled. "Actions do speak louder than words, but I would definitely recommend checking in with your supervisor sooner rather than later. You don't want the people in the armory to wonder who you are, particularly the boss."

"I will definately get there after my physical which i have scheduled in... five minutes," He replied as he looked at the time. "If you will excuse me Lt. Ive got to get going." He stood nodded and walked out the door.
