MISSION 0 - History Speaks

Arrianna entered one of the strategic analysis rooms and examined recordings of the battle with the ISS Elysium's crew, she had been waiting for Aurelia to arrive after sending her a message to meet her.
=^="Holmes to an Vantar, on my way"=^=. A few minuets later Lia entered the room and stood looking at Arri, "Ok, what's this all about?"
"Aurelia." Arrianna noted. "Victorious Warriors win the war, then fight the battle. Defeated Warriors fight the battle, then try winning the war. I believe fully we haven't seen the last of the Terran Empire, and we must be prepared."
Lia shook her head, "Say what? How do you figure that? And just one more request, call me Lia please".
"Something Captain Taylor said, Lia." Arri mentioned. "'Weak, you are both weak. You think I'm finished? Far from it. I will come back stronger than ever.' I do not think he was lying. I truly believe he has set into motion plans that have outlived him." Arrianna noted. "I could be wrong, but what if I'm right?"
Inhaling slowly, Lia glanced around the room. "Can you see anything wrong in this room? If, and I say if your right. Then you will have to convince very powerful people that there is something wrong in this room, let me explain that". Lia moved her hand in a wide circle around her, "This room is our universe, right now we can't see anything wrong in this room. Your saying there is something wrong, just how are you going to prove it?" She now faced Arri, "Those powerful people will only see what they want to see, no matter what you say they will not see it. Unless you can point to something and prove that it's wrong and a threat". Lia moved closer to Arri, "I don't want another incursion by the Mirror Universe any more than you do, we lost to many close friends to those evil people. But our powerful leaders haven't suffered that loss, how do we find the smoking gun Arri?"
"And that is what we need to address." Arrianna noted. "The intelligence failure that lead to our imprisonment in that place still exists. And indeed. Bureaucratic ignorance will serve only to forward the Terran's agenda in our universe."
"So tell me just what your idea is?" Lia turned and found a seat, sitting down she waited for Arri to continue.
Arrianna spoke. "Indeed, there will be people who would prefer the status quo, Lia. However we can sway more like-minded leaders and starfleet officers who have the foresight to realize the implications involved with expanded incursions into our reality. This will not just take one day, of course there will be those who doubt. But for the time being, we can prepare if rest of Taylor's crew should target the Elysium again." Arri mentioned and brought up some blueprints of the Ely. "You are familiar with the concept of a saferoom? That is exactly what we need, built into the Elysium in several areas. We can create command and operations centers if the ship is ever taken by a hostile force." Arrianna noted. "Right now, the best we can do in the short term is to ensure they cannot use the same tactic twice against us, and I'd like to propose this to the Captain."
"And you'd like me to assist you in presenting it to her?" Lia sat looking at Arri, "She should be agreeable to you idea having suffered at the hands of the Mirror Universe people, even Gary shouldn't have any complaints about getting prepared in case of another attack".
"Unfortunately, I am unsure about our ability to detect if there is an incoming invasion from the other side Lia. How does one detect what does not exist. And how do we scan realities beyond ours. Every time I ponder these questions, they become less of a scientific question, and the question ventures into the aggravating realm of philosophy." Arrianna noted. "And if you spent two hours in Sena Alindar's College of Philosophers. You'd hear them go in circles about the endless and exhausting theories of everything in regards to life and existance, just to possibly arrive at the conclusion that the meaning of everything is the number forty-two." Arri mentioned with a smirk. "I am glad I was apprenticed by the scholars as an adolescant rather than those yammering philosophers, and the artisans are worse when you ask them about the meaning of existence; they'll try to paint or sculpt an answer."
"What about graviton fluctuations? I would have thought some sort of distortions would have to have happened when they open that rift". Lia put her speculations forward, hoping to give Arri an idea.
"Both universes would interact in a way that would leave some sort of gravitational anomaly. Possibly. We could detect the means of traverse in our universe." Arrianna mentioned. "However by the time we detect any portals into our reality. An invasion of our universe may well be underway. They could open portals anywhere. For example, right on top of our shipyards and starbases, and we're still left with the Intelligence Failure. In the future, we're going to have to plan some intelligence operations." Arrianna mentioned. "And we may only have our resources to work with."
Lia sat and thought, "There has to be subtle differences between their universe and ours, plus that portal has to give out a massive amount of radiation as it forms. We need to find the footprint it gives out, and then find a way to alert us. A bit like the Omega particle, only we need forewarned".
"We need a scanning method that can give four to eight hours of warning before the portal forms." She brought up a tactical simulation. "Starfleet Command could recall enough ships to vital worlds, starbases, and shipyards in two hours. But with enough time. We can have the fleet converge on portals and attack them as they come through." Arrianna noted. "This is another thing we need to simulate in the holodeck, and we'll need to have the detection method and strategies submitted to Starfleet Command."
"What about Chronoton radiation? I know it's normally time travel that produces them, but could there be a chance that travel between universes producing a similar affect?" It was a long shot, but she was gambling on the difference of time in each universe producing the radiation.
"Hmm.. There may be a temporal component to this." Arrianna noted. "We may be able to use the intelligence we've obtained from the ISS Elysium to simulate the creation of such a rift, and if we understand the mechanics of the Rift, we can start submitting battle plans to Starfleet Command." Arrianna noted.
Lia glanced at her PaDD, "Before we were boarded, I scanned the ISS Elysium. Early results show her hull to be covered in Chornoton particles very different from our universe". She pushed the device towards Arri, "You'll note that Mirror Universe Chronoton particles irradiate a frequency different to ours, I believe that's our smoking gun. If we can program that frequency into our long range sensors, it will be detected before any ship breaks through the barrier between the two universes".
"We have our detection method, Lia. That may be enough. Now comes the more interesting task for our next meeting. We need to develop tactical simulations based on the Sol Home Defense Fleet and whatever is on station at nearby worlds." Arri noted. "I think I can convince my people to send ships, What about your Onjas exchange officer. She saw the Terran Empire first hand, could we convince her people of the necessity of an allied defense of our universe?"
"I can't talk for the Ojnas, we'd have to ask Imik herself. But after watching how they fought in the mirror universe, I think they'd be a very good in a fight". Lia picked up another PaDD and requested information on the Ojnas, what she read made her nod with pleasure. "The computer states when we first made contact with the Ojnas, they were fighting the Tholians. Seems as if some historical war had reignited when the Ojnas returned from their space trek, the Ojnas wanted their planets back". She set the PaDD down and looked at Arri, "So do you ask Imik or am I the patsy?"
Arri responded. "I will ask Imik, and I will speak to my cousin. The Defense College will listen to her. When your people have time, I would appreciate some strategic simulations of a breakthrough, for example; near important strategic targets like Earth, Andor, Vulcan, and Tellar. Starfleet has the lions share of our fleet yards at these locations." Arri mentioned. "Once we get more allies interested in addressing the problem, it would make it far more difficult for the brass and politicians to ignore the problem." Arri stated. "This is how we win the war before we fight the battle. And it's the Primary Axiom of the way my people wage war. The Defense College spends much of its time preparing strategies for a great deal of tactical and strategic outcomes. I will put them in touch with you, Aurelia."
Lia nodded in agreement, "Sounds like a plan, but I only hope this gets sorted out sooner than later. This topic is as dangerous as the Omega particle, but somehow I don't think Star Fleet see it that way".
"Then we will find those who will take it seriously." Arri continued.
