1031 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Arrianna entered the holodeck in order to give a presentation to Starfleet Command, as well as ambassadors to many worlds. She looked around at the gathered audience, even if they were transmissions form many worlds. She took the Podeum and spoke. "Good evening." She began to speak.

"Six Weeks ago, an unprecedented event took place. A ship from an alternate reality crossed over into our reality and simultaneously kidnapped a Starfleet Captain, and attempted to enslave the Crew of a Federation Starship. Since that even took place, we have had to contemplate the very real reality that a hostile empire from this universe; The Terran Empire, may have to ability to cross into our realm and rage war with us." Arrianna presented and continued. "Since this event took place. I have directed my science team to analyze the rift Captain Garrett used to cross into our reality and have concluded that such a rift would take a great deal of time and resources to create, it can be detected. I have cross-examined this rift with scans and intelligence gathered from the ISS Elysium. With this data in hand, we can modify the sensors on our listening posts and starbases to detect this kind of anomaly." Arrianna then continued. "But that does not lesson this threat. I can gurarantee you, the Terran Emperor was taking a great interest in weighing the gains his empire would benefit from an invasion into our universe." Arrianna pushed a button and the data appeared on a large briefing screen.

"I have asked our Chief Tactical Officer to create hypothetical battle scenarios using an early warning apparatus. We and our allies, within the Federation, and in the Klingon Empire and other neighboring empires can easily bring enough forces to bear if an anomaly is detected. Our best course of action is a a rapid counter-attack on the rifts, Our ships can encircle a rift and engage any Terran Vessel emerging from the rift. The sooner we can detect an intrusion the better, which is why my department has been through with our analysis.. I also believe the rift can be destabilized." Arrianna brought forth more of her analysis a subspace and temporal analysis. "The Elysium's crew feels strongly about this. Even though the threat of invasion is not eminent. The sheer amount of intelligence failures that allowed Captain Taylor's agents to infiltrate this universe must be addressed, And even then, we must prepare for even this remote possibility, and as the famed human General Sun Yzu once pointed out 'Victorious warriors win the war, then fight the battle. Defeated warriors fight the battle, then try fighting the war.'"

Imik rose up and looked at Arrianna, "Why have I been summoned here? My people are not Federation, what would we gain from any of this?" She remained standing, "I have seen this Mirror Universe in action, but its focus is on the Federation. Romulans, Klingons and other species are for now not their priority. We Ojnas were an unwelcome surprise for the Terrans, but my people here in this universe have little will to engage with another enemy while watching our first Nemesis the Tholians prosper along side this Federation".

Arrianna responded. "If the Terrans invest resources in opening another portal into our reality. They will not ambassadors. That is why you're here, Consul. Their Emperor has made his intentions clear when he captured our Captain, tortured her, and then attempted to enslave our crew. Ladies and Gentlement... This empire views us all in this universe as Sheep. It is a form of barbarism not practiced by any of our races for centuries. They will rage war, that is how their empire... barely survives."

"War can not be avoided, is this your argument?" Imik still stood looking at Arri, "My people have spent three thousand earth years traveling in the universe, war can be avoided it is not the only recourse open to us". She moved out from the table and moved to the view screen at the table head, she inputted a few parameters. A formula now appeared on the screen, "This chemical would eliminate all Terrans, as it is based on their DNA. It would also eliminate Humans as well, but the war would be avoided. The other species in the mirror universe would be unaffected, but would eliminating the Terrans solve our problem? I think not, another species would rise and take the place of the Terrans and continue their expansion". She returned to her seat, "I would humbly suggest the only true response to the mirror universe, would be sealing any and every portal permanently".

Arrianna nodded. "That is one of the strategies we've considered, Consul. But we also have to consider what would happen if there is an intrusion into our universe that we have no knowledge of." Arri spoke again. "During the Dominion War, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Star Empire had an alliance known as the Federation Alliance. I propose something similar, to be activated the moment Terran Forces of any kind penetrate our universe. Whether it is closing the rifts, or defending our worlds from enslavement. We must make a stand." Arri noted. "I know how you feel. I would welcome even a non-aggression pact with the powers-that-be in this universe. But these people have no respect for those they conquer. They certainly are deprived of the very core decency that exists in all our nations, and they tortured the Elysium's crew for three days and engaged in brutality that all of us find reprehensible."

Lia now stood up, "I feel we are simply banging heads, perhaps the Ojnas aren't ready to make a commitment at this time".

Arri walked out of the room. "I was not expecting that." She noted. Consul Vanessa followed. "Bureaucratic Fools. They'll wait days debating over trivial matters when the potential exists for a Terran invasion force to appear instantly anywhere.

Imik watched as Arri and Vanessa walked out, she stood up and then followed them. "Are you foregoing your presentation? Or have you decided that the mirror universe, is no longer the enemy you first thought?"
