Gary was in the kitchen of his and Lia's quarters. His shift had ended and he left the bridge to return to their quarters. He was puttering around making a real dinner for her. Shrimp Scampi, rice, garlic toast. He had planned on doing it sooner but he needed Lia out of the quarters for a considerable amount of time as he wanted this to be a surprise. A pleasant surprise. With them on convoy duty and dealing with ships that could only manage Warp 1 combined with a definitely male superiority complex from the convoy's leader. It was a bit much.

As he prepared the dinner he thought of just how fortunate, no make that lucky he was to have fallen in love with two remarkable women. The first was Catlin, they had met at the Academy, fallen in love and gotten married. They even served together on the Solstice, where it had wandered into the Neutral Zone and been pounced on by three Romulan warbirds. Like hungry cats going after a mouse. He and a few other junior officers (The Captain, XO and other senior officers had been killed in the attack) were able to get some of the crew to the escape pods. Catlin had been one of them. He and the other surviving officers were taken prisoner and to a jungle prison where he was held until his release. The whole time Catlin had waited for him. Their reunion had been joyful, ecstatic and plans were quickly made for their new life together. But those plans never came to materialize as Catlin had been killed in a hovercar accident.

He had sunk into a deep depression. Kept people at arms length, put up walls to isolate himself from others until he met one Lia Holmes. He smiled as he remembered their first meeting in his Ready Room. Sparks had flown. He chuckled at the thought, *More like fireworks* He corrected himself mentally as he could still see Lia standing there telling him she would never trust him. An undercover assignment and a meeting in the holodeck had helped to clear the air. Then slowly but surely they become civil then friendly which'd morphed into them being a couple and now here they were husband and wife. It had been a long and winding and sometimes bumpy road but they did it.

He loved Lia fiercely, she had gotten him to take the walls down and to live again and to love again. To rejoin the human race. Oh, they had disagreements, arguments but they 'fought' fairly. Never indulging in name calling or bringing up past arguments. Even mad, they told each other 'love you' when going to bed.

He thought briefly on their time in the Romulan prison and Lia's problem afterwards. They had faced it together and over come it together. They truly were each others best friend. Not afraid to tell the truth even if it might hurt or be unpleasant to hear. Now they were embarking on a new journey, one that hopefully involved children. He was careful not to press as Lia had lost one child a daughter Angel, through a miscarriage brought on by the physical abuse's she had suffered at the hands of her father. He was patient and would remain so until Lia was ready both physically and mentally to try again. He knew she would be a terrific mother.

As he checked the shrimp and the garlic toast , trying to get them to finish at the same time a song popped into his head, one that summed up his and Lia's love.

"Computer play Nuthin About Love Makes Sense." An instant later the quarters were filled with the words and music and Gary Taylor had never been happier or more in love as he danced around the kitchen softly singling along and pouring two glasses of wine for himself and Lia.

Like a cloud full of rain shouldn't hang in the sky
Ice shouldn't burn or a bumble bee fly
If you feel so happy, then why do you cry
Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense

Like an ocean liner shouldn't float on the sea
A pearl in an oyster or a circus of fleas
Someone so perfect can't be fallin' for me
Oh nothin' 'bout love makes sense

[Chorus]
Nothin' 'bout love is less than confusin'
You can win when you're losin'
Stand when you're fallin'
I can't figure it out
Nothin' 'bout love can make an equation
Nothin' short of amazin'
Wish I could explain it
But I don't know how

The way that we dance
The reason we dream
That big Italian tower
Oh, how does it lean
Somethin' so strong shouldn't make me this weak
Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense

[Repeat Chorus]

Like the lights of Las Vegas glowin' out of the sand
A jumbo shrimp or a baby grand
How you touch my heart when you hold my hand
Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense

Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense
Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense
Oh, nothin' 'bout love makes sense
