ON:

Standing on the turbolift headed for the bridge, Kaylee closed her eyes and listened to the hum of the lift as it went. for the most part there wasn't a problem, though she could swear she heard an occasional pop every so often. hearing the lift begin to slow, Kaylee opened her eyes and was immediately met with the bridge layed out before her. Making a quick scan of the people at their stations, she didn't see the CO anywhere. giving a slight shrug, Kaylee walked down to the door to the Ready Room and tapped the door chime.

"Come!" Called out the female voice of the captain from within and the door slid open to reveal the room was dimly lit. The captain was sitting at her desk reading a PADD. She looked up and gave a brief smile. "Hello Petty Officer, can I help you?"

Quickly walking over to the desk, Kaylee have a wide smile, “hi I’m Kaywin-Li Fray and I’ve been assigned as your ship’s damage control specialist. It’s nice to meet ya” she said, her smile beaming at the Captain.

A slight puzzled look crossed Phoenix's face. "Nice to make your acquaintance as well Petty Officer. Did Commander Grronkil send you here?"

“No ma’am, the Commander next on my list I like to start at the top” Kaylee replied

It was unusual to say the least and the Erisian was obviously thrown off balance by the young petty officer's arrival. "Damage control you said?" Lalor queried. "Well Engineering will just love that. They are always calling out for more hands to assist with repairs."

"I am up to the task, I guarantee it" Kaylee said with a smile, "I'm already familiar with the layout of the ship. I worked on her during her trial runs near Sol. Hopefully the girl has held together since shake down. We had to do some major structural overhauls to her after the first test. She nearly tore apart from just her sheer size. Not that being large is a bad thing" she said, looking up at the ceiling as if talking to the ship itself. "Some might say that she's too much of a ship but to me she's beautiful" Kaylee than went silent as if in deep thought before snapping back to reality, "oh I'm sorry Captain, what were we talking about?"

Phoenix merely smiled. "The Ship. Well, she has been through a lot since her shake down. I am sure you will find a few changes have been made."

"I'm sure the other engineers did their jobs well. ofcourse I intend to check up on all of my work that I did back then. has there been any significant structural damage to the ship recently?" Kaylee asked.

"no Not in the past 6 months or so." Phoenix said thinking back.

Kaylee nodded, "well, I guess that makes my job easier for now. general maintenance it is. it sounded like the turbolift to the bridge needed some recalibrations anyway. could you tell me where I might find Commander.....um..." she said, rereading her transfer orders, "..Grronkil is it?"

"Main engineering is most likely. If he is not there, people will be able to tell you where he is... Just keep in mind, he is not from this Galaxy."

"he's not? what galaxy is he from? the closest would be the Andromeda galaxy" Kaylee asked.

"And that would be it." Phoenix said standing. "Its a long story, one he and some of the command crew of this ship share. But he is an excellent Engineer."

"I expect no less from someone who looks after such a fine ship" Kaylee said, processing this new information, "well, if you will excuse me captain, I should find my division commander" she said, standing up from her seat, "ma'am"

"Petty Officer. Welcome again to the Elysium." Phoenix smiled and dismissed her.
