First meeting

Having met Commander Lovejoy Leilani made her way to meet her new Captain. From what she understood this command team was new to the Elysium, her Betazoid senses were telling her that the crew definitely weren’t happy about the change. It had no bearing on her assignment to the ship, so she would carry on regardless with the respect due.

Arriving at the Ready Room door she straightened her uniform before pressing the door chime.

Yasmine looked up from where she was working on a report. "Come!" She called out.

Walking into the room Leilani saluted and stood to attention. “Sergeant Leilani Rahl reporting for duty Captain.”

Yasmine nodded and then paused. "Sergeant. You are a marine?" she asked curiously.

“Yes ma’am” Leilani nodded relaxing her posture a little. I’m assigned here as Combat Medic, as well as ship’s Archaeologist and Anthropologist.”

"Ah yes, I remember something about that in a personnel report. Please have a seat Sergeant"

“Thank you Captain” Lani smiled and took a seat making herself comfortable. “I’ve already met Commander Lovejoy, I also have plans to head to medical for my physical and to have my Psych evaluation done.”

"Good. And you report to? The Colonel or Commander Au Vantar?" Carrington asked.

“Where my marine duties are required I report to Colonel Naxea Ma’am. As for my Scientific duties I will report to Commander Au Vantar. It’s pretty complicated crossing departments but when I’m not needed for my Marine duties I will concentrate on my Scientific ones.”

Yasmine nodded. "Very well." She considered things. "I am sure you will find the Elysium a nice place. I have been told that the crew are very friendly."

Lani nodded. “Those I’ve met so far have been, yes ma’am.” She couldn’t help but smile as she thought of George.

"Good. If you have any issues with the crew, I hear Colonel Naxea is very good at handling such issues."

“Yes ma’am, I understand Colonel Naxea was seriously wounded last mission. I plan on visiting her to see how she is, and to introduce myself.”

"Yes, I have read the report. The former captain was lax in the numbers she sent to rescue the away team" Yasmine stated. "I am sure the incident will be investigated as part of the charges against the former captain."

Lani nodded. “At least that explains why the emotions of the crew are at such a high ma’am.”

"Yes well when ones illusions are so clearly shattered, it is hard for them to reconcile the fake with the truth."

Leilani nodded. “Understood Captain. Hopefully things will settle down once the crew get used to their new command team.”

"Yes. If they cannot, I am sure they will find gainful employment on other vessels." Yasmine was firm on this.

Leilani was surprised to hear the Captain say she was ready to move people off ship if necessary, Carrington was obviously not someone to be messed with. “I take it you have high expectations of your crew Ma’am?”

"Yes. Starfleet Officers are held to a high standard and I do not see why this ship's crew should be any different." Yasmine replied.

“Then I will do my best to do you, and this ship proud Captain.” She wondered if Carrington had delved into her personnel file. It surprised her she hadn’t mentioned about the rape trial she’d had to attend, even though she was proved innocent of wrong doing in what lead to the death of her attacker.

"You would not have been assigned to the Elysium if you were not able to do that Sergeant." Carrington said. "You have been assigned quarters?"

“Yes Captain, I’ve yet to unpack but that can wait for now.” She smiled warmly.

"Make sure you take the time to do that. And settle in with the crew." Yasmine said with a smile.

‘I will ma’am thank you” Leilani smiled warmly. “If there’s nothing else Captain I’ll let you get back to work.”

"Dismissed, and welcome again to the USS Elysium." Carrington replied.

“Thank you Captain” Leilani stood and saluted, before she turned and headed out of the door.
