Yasmine had been reading up on some of the more obscure crew when the communication came in. She read it, and re read it, then summoned Commander Lovejoy to her ready room.

Receiving the Captain's summons. Garrett left his Ready Room and made his way to hers. He straightened his tunic and brushed away invisible dust before he pressed the chime.

"Come!" Yasmine called out, she looked up as Lovejoy entered. "Ah commander. Good, please come in, have a seat."

"Captain." Garrett greeted. "I came as quick as I could." He took a seat and waited for Yasmine to reveal why she had called for him.

"I just have received word from Starfleet Command, they are diverting us to Science research station 35. we are to pick up a bunch of Scientists there who's speciality is Cultural and Historical history"

"I'll see to it that quarters are assigned to the scientists Captain. Do we know how many will be coming aboard?" Garrett inquired.

"A group of about 20 or so. And we are then being ordered to a distant planet." She brought up the planet. "Its very distant. I will be requesting a senior staff briefing soon, I think we are going to need everyone to be on their best behaviour."

Garrett nodded, "Understood Captain." He studied the planet she brought up. "What is our mission when we get there?" He questioned.

"Its..." she paused "Hard to say. First Contact but they are human. So,.." She gave a shrug. "Starfleet has received communication pulses to Earth requesting updates from the ‘Optimum Empire’ from this world. These messages contain a lot of old rhetoric from an old Earth dictator called Colonel Phillip Green, whose actions led to the death of some thirty-seven million people."

"Green!" Garrett exploded "Are these people his followers? He was a monster Captain. Attacked his enemies during peace talks. He could never be trusted . He practiced whole scale genocide Captain. I hate to think these people are his followers."

"I know." Carrington said. "He is the opposite of everything the Federation Stands for, but even if they are, they are still, Human. We are under orders to go, pick up the science team and initiate contact. After that... we see."

"Understood Captain. I think we need to have a standing order of General Quarters so we aren't taken by surprise.... just in case. We are going in blind here Captain. Better to be safe than sorry."

"Indeed. I believe I will ask Colonel Naxea to supplement her Marines into security. Joint patrols and away teams having numerous security and marines in them." Yasmine said. "We will lock down Medical, Engineering, the Bridge."

"Excellent idea Captain." Garrett answered. "No one but authorized personnel allowed access to these area and then only a limited number at a time. May I also recommend that none of the Optimum Empire be allowed any access to the ship other than conference rooms."

"And a medical bay, just in case. I believe the chief medical Officer can set up a temporary bay somewhere." She mused.

"Yes." Garrett said in agreement. "I'm sure we can find somewhere suitable if the need arises."

Yasmine sat back in her chair. "A ship like this would be a nice prize for people if they have nothing. I am not sure i like the idea of them even being on board but, we shall find out what our new chief Diplomat suggests."

"Your going to get Gary Taylor involved in this? Are you sure that is wise Captain? I'm sure he is still seething over his reassignment." Garrett pointed out.

"I am sure he is. But you told me he was a professional. Do you believe he is incapable of being professional?" Carrington asked.

"I did and I stand corrected captain. Gary Taylor will be professional." Garrett assured her. "He may hate his assignment but he will do his best to see it is a success."

"which is, if he wishes to remain, what we need from him." She confirmed.

"He'll want to remain aboard Captain." Garrett answered confidently.

She nodded. "I will arrange for the senior Staff briefing at 11h00."

"Very good Captain, would you like refreshments to be present at the meeting?" He asked.

"No. I do not intend for it to go for long." she said. She hit her desk comm. "Carrington to Helm. Change Course, set course for Science research station 35"

["Aye Aye"] came the reply.

"Understood Captain."

Yasmine stood. "This is not going to be fun Commander" She said.

"No. it is not Captain. However I have every confidence in the crew to act to the best of their abilities and make this mission a success." Garrett answered.

She nodded. "Let us hope so." She moved towards the door. "11h00 Commander. Spread the word."

"I shall memos out to all department heads once I am back in my Ready Room Captain." Garrett assured her.

Yasmine nodded. "now back to work." she sighed.

"No rest for the weary Captain," Garrett observed as he stood and headed for the door. "I'll get the memos out right now Captain."

"Thank you Commander."

Garrett nodded, "Captain." as he exited the room leaving Yasmine alone with her thoughts.
