Mission: Season 5: Episode 2: Operation Save Humanity
Location: USS Elysium
Timeline: MD3 2030
1011 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Commander Runyon from the Department of Temporal Investigations had to contact the USS Elysium. There was a Time Shift which was totally unrelated to the Barclay de Tolly incidence. This one involved the Chief of Logistics of the USS Elysium. His name was Lt. Manuel Fox.

Fox had transferred on to the Elysium two months ago. The thing was, Fox knew about another officer, Lt. Commander Xander Xavier. Xavier tweaked the timeline but Runyon just spent the last four weeks fixing a big mess and he needed to tie up loose ends. The last loose ends was how did Fox was able to get a Delta Flyer capable of time travel.

Runyon called up a discrete meeting with three El Aurians to ask them if they felt anything changed in one bit.

“Lieutenants and Corporal, some of you I know,” Runyon says in a conference call he explained what happened then he asked, “First have any of you felt a time shift about a month ago and can one of you find out how Lt. Manuel Fox got a hold of an Experimental Delta Flyer. Just report back to me and I will handle the rest. My experience are guilty parties usually keep quiet to authorities but to another guy drinking Mexican Beer, he might say something. Fox is from Chihuahua, Mexico.”

Siora had always found temporal events a pain in her backside. This Runyon, she knew nothing of and he probably knew nothing of her. Just the way she liked it. The less known about her the better, it was easier to get information out of people that way, remain hidden better.

"I've felt an itch in the back of my mind for while now." Aerin spoke without much of a thought. "Probably goes back to about a month or two ago but I just put it down to working too hard. I don't think I've ran into a Lieutenant Fox." She shrugged looking over at David, their time together had been nice.

"An itch?" Siora smirked. "I know a way to fix that and it isn't with a temporal infarction." she now grinned. "But I've not met this man either." she said pulling up his record in front of her. "Chief of Logistics... sounds boring."

Runyun nodded. "Humans sometimes joke about Logistics personnel because you might have one on board for a few years and you might run into one by accident. Several of the major departments might have a lower ranking officer that will interact with them. Trust your itch and your gut. The man may or may not be innocent. If you feel something is afoot, report to me as well as your XO."

David spoke up next. "Well, as much as I hate to admit this, I've never been good at feeling time differences. What I can do, is see the energies that move around us and through us."

"Some of you might have met Lt. Victor Barclay de Tolly," Runyun says looking at the El Aurians on his screen. "I sent Commander Pyotr Zhukov back to the past to catch a man who stolen another kind of time traveling ship. He was suppose to stop the other man. He did but he wind up having a fling with Professor Lara Barclay de Tolly causing her to get pregnant with twins, one of them being Victor. I could tell you more but the gist is when Zhukov was able to fix the time line, his two children and grandchild appeared in this reality. So he will feel it as well when there is a time shift."

"Temporal changes are a pain in the ass." Siora said rolling her eyes. "Where is Commander Zhukov now?" she asked.

David sat back and listened. While he was famiar with the idea of temporal mechanics, it was not something he specialized in, so he had nothing to contribute, short of providing muscle and wisdom of a longer life of experiences than his fellow El Aurians. He had no idea when he had started this group duscussion that he would be far older than all present.

“There are two Commander Zhukov’s now,” Runyon replied. “The one from this timeline I sent back is on the USS Borodino. The one I sent back in the other timeline is working for The Department of Temporal Investigations.”

Siora pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "This is giving me a headache Commander. "I can make some enquiries about Lieutenant Fox, possibly try and get some information out of him myself. I'm not a big drinker, Mexican beer or not, but as you know our people do have our lovely pheromones to help people open up to us." she smirked.

David shrugged slightly. "I've never lost a drinking competition in the past 400 years."

“I have a feeling you all know to keep this on the low key,” Runyon replies, “Humans seem to over react when we talk about temporal diversions. For most of us here, if not all, it is a typical Monday.”

David nodded and replied first. Yeah, they always have been. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they've gotten worse." He looked at everyone present and then elaborated. "Well, for the himans, time travel has been in their literature since H.G. Wells first published his story, titled "The Time Machine", back in 1895. Since then, it became a bigger story each time the current technology improved. In fact, by the time the Eugenics War began, there were a few movies about how a scientist took a sports car from the 1980's and turned it into a time machine. It was, actually, quite humerous to watch."

“Agreed,” Runyun replied. “That car one explains best how your Chief of Engineering came into this universe if you recall when Marty left his girlfriend at the porch. Back to the task at hand. So you all coordinate and gather you Intel. Be discrete and work with each other.”

After the meeting had concluded, Runyun contacted Commander Pyotr Zhukov who worked for him.
