Damien watched her closely, his eyes never leaving her as she closed the gap between them. When she lowered herself onto his lap, he felt his body stiffen, heat flaring through his body, one arm automatically wrapping itself around her waist, drawing her closer. When she brushed his lip, a chill ran through his spine, and before he could even react, she'd closed the gap completely, her actions sending another chill through him, his breath catching in his throat. Whatever he'd been expecting, it wasn't this, and his brain was currently frozen as he tried to comprehend the situation.
Vira released his lip and sat back slightly. Her thumb caressed his jaw while her eyes bore into his, her thick lashes lowering. There was a challenge in her eyes as she waited to see what Damien's move would be.
When she pulled back, he stared into her eyes, neither saying anything. The movement of her thumb was causing goosebumps to pop across his skin. The challenge was clear now. The ball was in his court, and it was his move. He slowly moved his free hand up, trailing along her arm, before moving to cup the back of her neck, his thumb tracing a soft circle, before he pulled her close again, closing the gap once more, pressing his lips to hers.
A soft sigh left her and the tension in her shoulders melted away as she returned the kiss. Her free hand fisted in his shirt pulling him closer while she tilted her head and deepened the kiss. The places on her bare skin where it met his heated, the muscles in her thighs tightened on his hips. Vira felt she could drown in the waves of him, forgetting about her need for air.
Damien closed his eyes, the arm around her waist tightening. Heat flared throughout his body, and the softest of moans escaped his lips. He pulled back from her slightly, his teeth gently grazing her bottom lip, biting down softly, before he pulled away fully, gazing into her eyes. His entire body felt like it was on edge. He didn't think he'd ever felt this way before. The last date he'd been on was nearly two years ago. And it certainly hadn't been anything like this one.
Vira chuckled deeply at the feel of Damien's teeth on her lip. Her feline smirk graced her reddened and slightly swollen lips. There was an easy silence between them for a long moment before she spoke. "I like kissing you." Her hand released his shirt, palm flattening on his chest until her finger found that damn string of again.
He watched her reactions as he pulled away, grinning back at her, letting the silence sit comfortably between, chuckling at her words. "I like kissing you as well." He said, glancing down at her finger. "You really like that string." He said, the hand cupping her neck starting to lightly trace circles against her skin again.
"Hmmm." She was distracted by the small circles he was tracing, her eyes closing and leaning her neck to the side to allow him better access to the skin there. She couldn't remember the last time she was touched so sweetly, it put her in a state of relaxation she barely felt when not on her homeworld. Eyes still closed she said, "I like this better though."
He smiled, adjusting how he was sat to make sure they were both comfortable, his hand running along the side of her neck, tracing random shapes on her skin. Writing his name, her name, tracing the Starfleet insignia. Whatever came to mind. "This is nice." He said softly, leaning back on the sofa, content to just sit there with her.
With her eyes closed it was easy to be consumed by Damien's warm touch. When the need for friction against her center grew, Vira's thighs tightened and she pulled his hand from her neck and laced their fingers. If she didn't she wasn't sure where this night would go but her brain told her to slow down, pull herself together. When she opened her eyes and made contact with his she blushed and leaned forward until their foreheads met. "Tell me a secret."
Damien had his eyes closed as well, smiling at the peace between them. He opened his eyes as she pulled his hand away, smiling at her as they made contact. "You're cute when you blush." He mumbled. When their foreheads met, he closed his eyes again. "A secret?" He asked. He thought for a minute, before saying, "Sometimes I worry my father is disappointed I didn't go into Medical as he did. He always says that he's happy with my choice, but it sometimes feels like he's disappointed. Or at least, he'd unhappy." He bit his lip, before quietly saying, "Your turn."
Her eyes narrowed when he bit his lip and she had to restrain herself him leaning in to do the same. His secret didn't come as a surprise at all. Her expression was earnest when she spoke, "This is your life to live Damien, not your fathers. He may be saddened that you choose a different career path but i'm sure hes proud you followed your heart. There is a line that needs to be drawn when it comes to the expectancy of our parents." Vira pressed her lips to Damien's brow. "Now what secret can I disclose to you without fearing for your safety." She joked while smiling. For a moment she was in quiet while she thought. "I want a dog." She sat back before explaining. "Like the ones on Earth. One that will growl at people and who protects me fiercely, though with my luck i'll raise one who softens the moment it's given attention."
He smiled softly at her words, a gentle warmth spreading through him at both the words and her actions. "Thank you." He whispered softly, before chuckling softly. He opened his eyes at her revelation, smiling softly. "A dog?" He asked. "Did they not have dogs on Risa?" He asked gently.
"Yes, but they aren't the same! I never wanted one until I visited Earth." She smiled, "It's your turn by the way" She squeezed the hand she held.
He smiled, returning the squeeze. "Dogs are adorable. I didn't have one growing up, but there was a neighbour of mine who did and I used to look after her when he went on Holiday. It was much cheaper to let me do it, then to send it to a boarding kennel." He chuckled, before raising an eyebrow at her. "Oh. We're trading secrets are we?" He grinned at her, but before he could say anything, there came a beeping from the kitchen. "Oh. I'm sorry. But it looks like we're out of time."
Wrapping her arms around his neck she protested, “Not if I don’t allow you to get up we’re not.”
He raised an eyebrow at her, his eyes flitting either side, looking at her arms. "Oh?" He questioned. "And what about the food?" He asked. "It'll burn." He protested innocently, both arms moving to snake around her waist.
Eyes bright and her lips sealed she shook her head back and forth not giving in.
"That's a shame." Eyes wide, he pouted slightly at her. "And after I worked so hard on it."
Vira growled, leaning forward she took his bottom lip between her teeth again. “Fine.” She whispered then slowly stood, smoothing out her dress. It was like the sun went out and all the warm she had felt drifted away the moment she stepped back to allow him to stand. She immediately missed how close they were.
He felt his breath hitch in his throat again, part of his brain telling him to just ignore the food and pull her close again. But, before he could, she stood up. He sighed shakily as he stood up, smoothing his apron out. "Tease." He said, smirking at her, before heading back into the kitchen.
She scoffed, “I’m the tease?! Me?!” She shook her head and followed him to the kitchen. Then remembered their glasses and turned back to grab them. “Do you want another one?”
He laughed again, saying nothing as he walked into the kitchen, walking over to the oven, checking on the curry, giving it one final stir, before turning the heat off, then checking on the rice, giving that another stir, before turning the heat off again. Hearing her speak, he turned around, grinning at her. "Are you trying to get me drunk, Miss V?" He teased.
Vira raised one brow at Damien as she came into the kitchen area setting his empty glass down on the counter. “And what if I am Mr. B?” she lifted her half full glass to her lips and sipped as she watched him tend to dinner.
He leant against the counter, picking the empty glass up, running his finger along the rim. "Then I guess I'd say it's a good thing I don't work Alpha Shift." He passed the glass back to her. "Fill 'er up." He turned back to the dinner, grabbing two plates out of the cupboard, piling the rice on, then ladling the curry on top. He carried them through to the nearby table, before walking back to the kitchen. "Dinner is served."
Taking the empty glass from him she finished the contents of her own and readied to make two more drinks. "Are you assigned to go down to the planet tomorrow?" Vira asked curiously as she made her way from the kitchen to the table. Setting down his newly filled glass next to his plate before taking her seat. Vira inhaled deeply, the food making her mouth water as she took her seat before her the steaming plate. "This looks delicious and smells amazinggg." She drew out the word.
Damien followed her back to the table, taking his seat, nodding as he did. "I am. I received my orders at the end of my shift today. I'll be part of Commander Taylor's team." He picked the glass up, taking a sip. "Mmm. That's good. I really need to get that secret ingredient from you." He grinned, before taking a mouthful. "Well, I'm glad it passes the look and smell test."
"That's a secret i'll never share lovey." She winked before picking up her fork and scooping up a large bite, blowing on it tentatively before bringing the fork to her mouth. "MMM," her moan was very audible as she chewed, the flavors a mix she wasn't expecting but delighted her pleasantly. She began swaying and bouncing slightly in her seat, food made her happy, especially good food and she couldn't help but dance in her seat as she scooped another bite.
"We'll see." He said, watching her as she started eating, holding his breath tentatively. He soon let out the breath though and smiled as she quite clearly seemed to be enjoying it. "Well. I'll take that as a good thing." He chuckled, before going back to his own plate.
After her forth bite Vira stopped dancing and put her fork down, she knew if she kept going at the pace she was she'd be done and be dealing with an upset stomach. "I didn't realize how hungry I was!" She smiled across the table at him. "This is perfect. Thank you for cooking for me."
He smiled, shrugging slightly, pushing the food around slightly, mixing the rice into the curry. "Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it perfect, but you're welcome. I enjoy cooking, and it's rare I get to cook for anyone other than myself." He picked the drink up, taking another sip. "Now this, this is perfect."
"I know, my drinks always are." She teased with a wink. "You know you still owe me a secret right?" She picked up her fork, leaning forward she took a piece of chicken off Damiens plate and popped it in her mouth before sitting back with a satisfied grin on her face.
"Still on that, are we?" He said, smirking as she stole some of his chicken. "How's this for a secret, I don't like when people steal off of my plate." He chuckled, before leaning back in his chair. "Alright. Real talk. About halfway through my first year in the Academy, I considered dropping out."
Vira gasped dramatically, pretending to be offended, "I can't help it if it tastes better when its someone else's." She laughed and set the fork back down, "Your lying. You seriously thought about dropping out?! Why?"
He chuckled, before shaking his head. "Nope. No lie." He said, taking another bite of his food, shrugging slightly. "I felt like I couldn't handle it. The classes were tough. The physical requirements were even tougher. After a particularly difficult Engineering lecture, during which I felt like I didn't understand anything being said, I thought it would be best If I just... gave up." He sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"Luckily my roommate came back from one of his classes early and caught me as I was packing my bag. He realised what was going on and slapped some sense into me. Literally. He took me by the shoulders, looked deep into my eyes, and said, 'Snap out of it, you British Twat.' And slapped me hard across the face. I was too shocked to respond, and he took that as the perfect time to explain that I was being stupid and if I was struggling, speak to the Professors. And it worked. After that, if I was having any problems, I just spoke to someone." He chuckled again. "Just think, if his class hadn't finished, I may have ended up leaving."
The laugh that came from the risian was loud, so loud she slapped a hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry, I was expecting him to call you that..." She took a moment to gather herself, taking a few deep breath still holding in the giggles that wanted to rise to the surface. " It looks like fate had a say in your destiny. And yes I believe things happen for a reason, good and bad." She lifted her glass and sipped it before asking, "Was it easier after that? What became of this roommate?"
He chuckled as well, shaking his head. "Don't worry. Your reaction is pretty much the norm. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was more shocked from the name than I was from the slap." He sighed, taking another mouthful of his dinner, before continuing. Fate is a powerful thing. The Ancient Vikings of Earth believed that the Nornir, ancient Maiden Giants, weaved the fates of all, and no one, not even the Gods themselves, could escape their fate." He smiled, before saying, "He graduated and became a Medical Officer. Last I heard, he was serving on the USS Neptune." He smiled, taking a sip of his drink. "Alright, your turn, I believe."
Vira looked down at her plate, taking another bite while she thought of something to share. Once she swallowed she giggled and said, "When I was little I used to eat flowers thinking they would make me beautiful. It was a twisted thought after my parents conned me into eating my food telling me veggies and meat would make me grow up to be strong." She shook her head embarrassed but laughed keeping her eyes on her plate.
He chuckled as he continued eating, shaking his head. "It seems some expressions transcend universes. My mother used to tell me the same thing." He smiled at her, before continuing. "It obviously worked though."
"I know just look at these muscles i've got. I grown up to be so strong, such an intimating force." She put the fork down and flexed both her arms as a joke. She knew what he meant but refused to admit it. She braved a glance across the table laughing as she dropped her arms. Part of her felt a little shame, why was it so hard for her to open up? About things that really mattered? Here Damien was being real with her and she was what? Taking about dogs and eating flowers. The smile fell and she looked back down to her almost empty plate.
He chuckled again, rolling his eyes. "Of course. You're a true powerhouse. So strong and intimidating. I'm surprised that you didn't join Security." He laughed along with her, shaking his head. He looked down at his plate, taking another bite, before looking up, noticing the sudden change in her. Furrowing his eyebrow, he reached across the table, placing his hand over hers. "Hey." He asked softly. "What's up?"
Vira focused on the hand that laid atop of hers. She shifted hers, flipping it beneath his so that their palms met. Without looking up she spoke, her voice low, just above a whisper, "I really enjoy spending time with you." A smile hinted at the corner of her lips.
He smiled softly, intertwining their fingers, squeezing her hand softly. "I really enjoying spending time with you as well." He said gently. "I know we've only known each other a few days, but I really like you. You're fun, spontaneous. A really lovely person. And, you're fairly easy on the eyes."
Vira rolled her eyes as she laughed, "Fairly easy huh." She shook her head but squeezed his hand in return, then brought it to her lips, planting a kiss on his knuckle. She tried to brave a look across the table but couldn't keep the blush from spreading across her cheeks. "Your not so bad to look at either, for a British twat that is."
He shrugged. "Fairly easy." He repeated, feeling the familiar warmth spread through him as she kissed his knuckles, before laughing, rolling his eyes. "That nickname's gonna stick, isn't it." He said, shaking his head.
"It's gonna stick." She confirmed before laughing again.
