ED wandered in to Main medical. He had several things to do, check in, and talk about proposed equipment upgrades. There were several ship alterations and modifications that were scheduled. Some had a high priority, others were not so important. He seen a nurse walk in with a over size P.a.d.d. Ed headed her way. "Hi!", he said, " I am looking for the Assistant Medical Officer, I am from Engineering and I am here to help. I also need to check in, up date my records and what ever else I need to do here."

Olivia had been checking over some of the supplies to see what was needing to be restocked. She was just walking back towards the front of Sickbay when she heard someone enter and go over to one of the duty nurses for the shift. "Hello there," Olivia said as she came into the main area of Sickbay. "I'm the Assistant Chief Medical Officer Dr Olivia Voight."

Ed said " Hi, I am your friendly Engineering assistant, Edward Garnla Gnomomer Chel'Sata, from the House of EL, line of D'Graceful! But Just call me Ed..." Ed pulled out a small box and handed it over. Inside that are 45 of your new 0.15 millimeter tips for your hypo-spray nozzles, they are courtesy of a new ship alteration, and implantation from R&D, or SfMed. Star Fleet Medical Bureau ship alteration number " Ed had to look down at his P.a.d.d to continue. " SFMed ALT23970314.A "

"I knew that the Commander had placed an order for some replacements, but didn't realize he had requested that some of them to be upgraded to the newer ones," Olivia replied. "These will come in handy for when we need to use them." Olivia looked over her schedule for those that were due to come in for their annual check up or for new transfers check in for medical. "I see that you are here for your check in with us. Come this way and we will get started on the physical." Olivia lead the new Engineering Officer over to one of the biobeds. "Do you have any allergies that I need to be made aware of?," Olivia asked as she pulled up Edward's medical file.

Ed said, "I seen the inbound Ship alteration, to your department, and it was a quick replication, so I did it, and shazam! here you go!"

My allergies, are : Tricordrazine, Kelotane, Corophizine, and Cordrazine. With a major reaction to Corophizine. I had it once, it dropped my heart rate down to 11 beats per minuet. The records indicate that I am sensitive to sedatives. they work really, really well, for short periods of time.

Olivia nodded slightly as she listened to Edward give her a list of his allergies. "Hopefully we will not have to add to that list of allergies medication wise," Olivia replied. "Do you have any food allergies that we need to be made aware of as well?"

Well I snack all the time, but there is one thing. I would not call it an allergy, almost an addiction, my roommate back on the USS Valdemar. He would get theses round things that were high density cakes, they had nuts and fruit. No one in our group liked them, but it came from his grandma. I tried one once. It was awesome. I would devour as much as I could get my hands on. I quickly started trading any thing I could to get more. I started getting a lot. I just had to be on the com channel to rave about how much I liked them. He would tell his grandma, how much I liked them, and how he felt sorry for me, not having any home made cooking. So we started getting two at a time, one for me, and one for him. He still gave me most if not all of his. They were good.

But I don't think it was a allergy. More like a strong Craving. Unlike my brothers hot coco addiction. He was never with out his wide bottomed spill proof 1.5 liter titanium hot coco dispenser. I tried hot coco... its ok, I prefer citrus juices.

Olivia softly laughed a little. "I know the cakes you are referring to," Olivia said. "Humans refer to it as fruit cake and most tend to make them around the Christmas holidays. One of my roommates while at the Academy would always get them sent to her from her family as well. Her family would send her a light version and a dark version of the fruit cake." Olivia ran a few scans and made notes on Ed's chart for future reference. "It also sounds like your brother is trying to go for a record when it comes to the hot coco drinking. Even though I do drink some coffee myself, hot coco will always be a favorite of mine."

"It comes in light and dark?" Ed exclaimed! "Mine was a tan color!" He decided to look up recipes for it. It probably would not be as good as home made. Humans always complained about the quality of replicated food. ED would eat all he could get his hands on.

Ed pulled up the trouble call list, and did not note anything major on the list from medical. Ed asked, "I don't see any significant trouble calls on the work list. Is everything fully functional here in Medical? While I am sitting here, I figured I would ask."

"There are a couple things that have come up recently, but it is minor at the moment," Olivia replied. "I just haven't had time to submit the repair requests yet. A couple of the locks on lockers in back where we keep personal belongs and equipment of any patients that come in injured are malfunctioning. I just discovered it earlier when I was checking over some of the equipment."

Ed looked at his P.a.d.d., made a few entries, and then said, " I will have a duty engineer in here this evening to fix it!"

"Thanks," Olivia replied. "That will save me a bit of time in having to submit the request and waiting for a reply on when it gets fixed.

As if the universe could hear the ship's MD walked past holding his newly born granddaughter tight to him as he gently rocked her.

Ed heard coo's and grunts from the new born , turned and congratulated the lucky father.

Olivia smiled a little and turned to see Commander Sthlig walking by with his new granddaughter. "Commander Sthlig is actually the grandfather for the newest member onboard the Elysium," Olivia said.

" Welcome aboard lieutiant. I'd shake your hand, but...." The lizard said tilting his head to the small creature in his arms.

Moo was somber for a minuet, then said, " Most of my kin only lives till 50 ish, My grandpa died just prior to my birth. But enough somber stuff... congratulations!"

"Has the newest addition to the family received her name yet?," Olivia asked.

" Her name is N’Vea." The gorn said gently rocking the small hybrid as she hugged her grandfather tightly.

"Such a big name for a little one," Olivia said. "She will grow into it though. Plus, she will have you to help guide her along as she grows up just like her older brother."

" I'm sssorry to hear about your grandfather lieutenant. If you ever need to talk my office is alwaysss open." the lizard said giving a smile to the new arrival.

"Who knows, maybe there is a chance of you being able to live longer than 50 years of age and you bring honor to your family over time," Olivia said.

Ed said "Well my parents grew up hearing stories about barbaric living conditions.
Then they tell us younger generations just how good we have it. At one time one hundred years ago, living to be 30 was ancient. and Twenties was old age. I am glad i have the opportunity to live the good life."

"One thing about history is you can learn from it so that you don't make some of the same mistakes," Olivia replied. "Also, make improvements where you can so that you can live a long time and enjoy the time you have among the living."

" If it's any comfort my own ssspecies normal lifessspan is normaly fifty years and i'm going to hit two hundred and twenty sssoon. Maybe you'll be the first of your'sss to reach one hundred. " The gorn said reassuringly as he shifted his granddaughter slightly.

Looking at the little bundle in the large persons hands, Ed said "Well miracles happen every day. What your holding is proof of that!"
