" Captain's log, stardate 3052.2

The USS Capetown has finished her supply trip to the vulcan archeological dig on Tepheibos

The chief of the site has asked us to take on the site finds from the past three years and return them to vulcan for further study. From what they can inform me the planet was home to an advanced civilization that appears to have vanished overnight.

I look forward to seeing the findings.

The chief has once more been complaining about the state of the warp engines. The old girl is starting to show her years. When we dock at Vulcan i'll have them give her a full replacement as my last act of captain of this fine boat. "

Captain Damian paused from his log as the back pain that had become an increasing annoyance stabbed into him. Why had he offered to lift half of those boxes?

He was nearing retirement. The young officer of the earth Romulan war had turned into an old dinosaur with a slight budda belly and three grand kids.

A slight creaking came from the bulkhead as the ship could sense the pain of her captain. Giving her a gentle pat he spoke calmly. " Easy girl i'm not dead yet and commander Tholashr isn't going to scrap you." he said with the same tone one would give a worried horse.

It had been a lot of work to get his andorian first officer promotion to the captain's chair costing him every favour, debt, and old alcohol bottles he had. She was going to hate and love him all at once yet she'd do him and his crew proud. The first shen to be given command of a Starfleet vessel. She'd do her people proud.

He let out a slight laugh as he headed for the cargo bay doors. Said doors opened before him as the ship's security chief Lieutenant Kahlil Hodges passed with another load of boxes.

It pained him he hadn't had a chance to get to know the new security chief who had only joined on the current mission after their previous one was wounded in a fight with orion slavers. Giving the young officer a polite nod and a " lieutenant." He passed him by.

He'd never liked high command pulling strings to help get their offspring positions, but Hodges was doing his old man proud with his hard work. Hopefully, he'd do the commander proud as well.

His back pain stabbed again causing him to let out a grunt of pain. As much as it pained him he'd be needing to see the Vulcan doctor who had been his constant companion over the decades of his career.

Letting out a sigh he headed for the ship's sole turbo-lift. Hopefully, he'd be in and out. Pulling out his record he started his log again.
