" Left a bit. " Stilg said as he gripped the wall with both of his hands his strength holding it up as a pair of engeniers slid the wall into place. The decontamination room was coming along well and it would be ready by the time they arrived at his homeworld.

Deanna Kelea stepped into the Elysium’s decontamination area, her arrival had been something of a rapid drop off having received the news about her daughter’s early delivery. “Excuse me Doctor Sthilg”She smiled warmly. “I hope I’m not interrupting you?”

" One moment i'll......" Sthilg began before he realized who it was and froze. " Hello there. I didn't know you'd arrived. Sssorry i'd have been there to meet you." He said apologetically.

Deanna smiled. “That’s perfectly alright Sthilg, I didn’t exactly announce my arrival. Alicia has been keeping me in touch with events but I thought I’d come and help. “How is she, truly?”

After making sure the wall was secure the gorn lead her away from the noise of the construction. " Ssshe'sss doing well given the sssituation. I'm ssstill worried about her. Even asss her father i can't even begin to imagine what ssshe'sss feeling."

Deanna nodded. “Alicia always was good at hiding her feelings, but the up side of being Betazoid is she can’t hide those feelings from me.” She offered Sthilg a warmer smile. “I haven’t had chance to say thank you, for saving Alicia and our granddaughter. I’m very much looking forward to meeting N’Vea and my little grandson. I’ve seen them over subspace of course.”

A smile spread over the gorn's face. " They'll be looking forward to meeting you as well and pleassse there no need to thank me. I'd have done the sssame for any of my patiantsss."

“Alicia isn’t just a patient” Deanna rested back into a seat. “She’s your daughter, I can sense how much she means to you. She’s a very loving young woman, the loss of my husband hit her hard. After everything she’s been through losing her first true love, then her baby, and of course her breakdown, when she tried to take her own life. Since coming here she’s found so much more, both in yourself and Savar.”

The gorn pulled up a seat of his own on one of the storage containers. Letting out a slight sigh he continued. " Your right. Asss hard asss it'sss been sssince my own wife and daughter passsssed on i never thought i'd have a chance at a family again. I will forever be grateful to Alicia for giving me the chance at having one. I will do everything in my abilitiesss to help her and my grandchildren."

Deanna smiled warmly. “You are an amazing man Sthilg, to accept our family into yours. I am honoured to have you as part of my family.”

" Asss am i." the gorn said as he looked over at the under-construction decontamination chamber. " Funny that asss i know I have a family that my old one callsss me home." he said wondering why the ghosts had suddenly come back to life.

“Oh?” Deanna looked at Sthilg curiously. “You’re apprehensive about it?”

" I haven't been home sssince i wasss a green-ssscaled youngssster just passst his sssixteen birthday. I thought i'd never go back honesstly. " the old gorn replied. " Now out of the blue i'm heading home with my family."

Deanna nodded. “And it worries you greatly.” She motioned back towards the quarantine and decontamination area. “You’re afraid what could happen if anything was brought aboard the ship.”

" I wouldn't wisssh the virusss on anyone. I lossst all my family to it the firssst time and i'm not going to let it claim another. It'sss why i'm not allowing Alicia down to my home village. Even though i know ssshe'd want to vissst it. Doesss that make me a bad father?" He asked honestly

Deanna shook her head. “Certainly not!” She gently reached out and placed her hand on his large hand. “I’d have been extremely upset if you’d have said yes. As it is you’ve made the right decision, the best one to keep Alicia safe.”

" Thank you." The gorn said at the reassurance. He paused for a moment at her touch before coughing to break the silence. " Ssstill ssshall we go and ssshow you the grandchildren?" He said calmly.

Deanna nodded and removed her hand. “I’d like that Sthilg” she stood ready to walk with him. “I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable a moment ago, it wasn’t my intention.”

" It's okay my dear it is I who ssshould be apologizing. I'm nearly two hundred and thirty you'd think i wouldn't freeze like some newborn only jussst out of hisss egg." the doctor joked with a warm grin.

Deanna grinned. “To be honest I never thought I’d see the day when my daughter announced she had another father. I’m not the easiest person to get along with at times, as I’m sure Alicia has warned you, but I have to say I approve of her decision.”

The gorn grinned and chuckled slightly. " It wasss a ssshock to me asss well, but i'm glad ssshe did. It'sss been nice looking after the grandkidsss." The gorn said as they reached Alicia's quarters. Pressing the buzzer he waited calmly as he announced. " Alicia i brought you a presssent."

Alicia was tired, having been looking after her children even though she was supposed to be resting after her surgery. Her eyes widened as she opened the door to see her mother. “Mum!!” She hugged her mother before stepping back to allow Sthilg and her mother in. “How long have you been here?”

“Not long” Deanna smiled, but at the same time she gave Sthilg a concerned look at the state of her daughter. To her Alicia was looking pale, and worn out. “Your father...” she smiled at Sthilg. “Brought me to visit you, and my grandchildren.”

" My dear you ssshould be resssting." Sthilg said as his doctor instinct kicked in. " You should have called me i can watch the kidsss. " The gorn said as he headed for the replicator to replicate an energy shake.

“I’m fine, I’m just tired that’s all” Alicia offered a smile but she knew she wasn’t really fooling anyone.

Deanna gave her daughter a look that said ‘don’t tell lies’ as she made her way across to her grandchildren. “Ohhh my goodness! It’s so good to finally see these wonderful children!!” She didn’t want to disturb them whilst both Connor, and N’Vea were napping so she simply gently kissed them both. There was plenty of time for her to cuddle and play with them both.

The gorn smiled as he handed Alicia the drink. " Your not fooling anyone young lady. What will your doctor think."

Alicia grinned as she looked at her father. “I’m not even fooling you am I?” She sipped her drink before putting it down. “I wasn’t ready for this!” She hung her head, looking back up with misty eyes. “I had everything planned! The way I wanted N’Vea’s birth to be, everything. But they took that from me! Hell they almost killed me!!” She paused wiping away a few tears.

" No honey you're doing great," Sthilg said as he wrapped his arms around her. " Your a brave woman who has been through a difficult sssurgery and hasss been doing her best to care for the children who couldn't wisssh for a better mother." he said reassuringly.

“Your father is right pumpkin” Deanna sat down beside her daughter. “Motherhood is hard at the best of times, Young Connor came into your life already a year old, you’re starting from new with young N’Vea. It’s a lot to cope with especially after surgery as well.” She looked towards Sthilg, then back at Alicia. “If neither of you have any objections I’d like to stay onboard for a while, give you both the help that you need. I took extended leave from my ship so I could visit you.”

Alicia gave her mother a hug. “If dad has no objections, then it’s fine by me, Thank you!”

" Why would i have a problem with that." The gorn said with a smile on his face.

“Just call it me worrying too much!” Alicia smiled at Sthilg. “So would you like to join us for a family dinner later? I’m sure Savar won’t mind if you both join us.”

“I’d love to!” Deanna smiled as she sat still hugging her daughter. “What about you Sthilg? Would you join us?”

" Asss long asss nothing comesss up than i'll be there." The gorn said looking over at his sleeping grandchildren. Connor still clutching the Starfleet bear he'd made for the little hybrid. " Ssstill no luck getting him to put it down i sssee." He said quietly walking over to Alicia. " My sssewing is getting better. "

Alicia grinned. “He absolutely loves it! Would you make one for N’Vea as well?” She gave Sthilg a smile. “To be honest I wouldn’t mind one myself.”

"Off courssse my dear what sssort of father would i be who doesssn't make toysss for hisss children." the gorn said warmly.

Alicia grinned. “I have the best father! I know my dad would have liked you very much father!”

Deanna nodded. “He would indeed.”

The gorn was very quiet as he gave his daughter a warm hug a slight tear falling from his eye.

Alicia smiled as she enjoyed the hug. “I have a family I’m very, very proud of.”

~ 30 mins later ~

Whilst Sthilg and her mother were enjoying the children Alicia had fallen asleep, her recovery from surgery was taking a lot out of her energy reserves.

“Well would you look at that” Deanna smiled as she motioned to her daughter. “It’s a good job I came when I did, I can help out during yours, and Savar’s working hours.”

" Which i'm eternally grateful for. I whisssh i could help more, but my job keepsss pulling me away." The gorn said as he gently laid a blanket on his daughter.

“I’m sure AK and Savar understand that” Her mother smiled. “I’m eternally grateful to you for being here. I promise I won’t tread on your toes while I’m here.”

" Pleassse you have more experience with thisss than i do. If i messsss up with sssomething pleassse trodd on my feet and trod hard." The gorn said calmly as he gently picked up his waking up granddaughter..

Deanna smiled and nodded. “If that is your wish, but far be it for me to tell you how to be a good parent, I haven’t been the most wonderful mother. I didn’t really approve of Alicia’s first true love, as a result she never came to me when she lost both him, and his their child. Instead she tried taking her own life to be with him. I’ve spent my time since then trying to be the mother my daughter deserves, I just wish I could be there for her more often.”

" At leassst you managed to sssave her." The gorn said quietly as he held the small girl in his arms tightly.

Deanna nodded. “It’s taken this long just to get our relationship back on good terms.” She smiled as she looked at N’Vea. “Goodness! Look at those adorable little pointed ears! She certainly takes after Savar In that respect.”

" Ssshe doesss take after her father." Sthilg said as the small child reached up to grip her grandfather's figures.

Deanna was completely smitten with her tiny granddaughter, until a sound from behind her alerted her to Connor being awake. “Well hello little man” She smiled as she lifted him up. “Goodness you are a handsome young man, and look at that gorgeous teddy!”

THe gorn smiled as his grandson held the bear made out of starfleet uniforms tightly to him as his grandmother held him safely." He likes you." he said softly.

“I’m a very lucky woman to have a wonderful daughter, son-in-law, gorgeous grandchildren and you Sthilg. I am more reassured than I ever was that Alicia and the children are in the best hands.”

" Thank you my dear that'sss ssso resssssuring to hear." the old lizard replied as he held his grandaughter in his arms.

Deanna looked towards Alicia. “Would you be able to carry Alicia to bed? I think she’ll be more comfortable there than on the sofa.”

" Can you hold thisss one." The gorn said as he carefully handed over his grandaughter having to slowly pry the girl's figures from his hand. Giving Deanna a nod he gently picked up the girl and carried her into her and his son in laws bed chamber before gently laying her down.

Alicia stirred slightly but didn’t awaken, her body’s need for rest greater than the need to awake.

Out in the living area Deanna was in her element with her grandchildren, loving every moment of being with them. Right now she was needed and she wasn’t planning on leaving anytime soon.

After tucking his daughter in the gorn gave the best gentle kiss he could on the sleeping woman. After making sure she was still fast asleep. Slowly making his way to the door frame he stoped as he looked at Deanna playing with the grandchildren. A smile spread over the lizards face.
