OOC Days after Christmas Party
Fernando came out of his shower, a real shower with water. Not the phony sonic shower. He had dried himself off and was singing
and dancing (Doing the cha cha) as was his want wearing only a towel which was ......wrapped around his head. So engrossed was
he in his singing and just generally enjoying himself, he didn't realize at first that there was someone else in his quarters.
"Now that's what I call a nice welcome", Mona said and grinned at Fernando, making no effort at averting her gaze. She was in her uniform, a bag slung over her shoulder. She usually travelled light, and always had a bag packed, so heading over when she got the announcement had taken all of five minutes. "Looks like someone figured out you'd been without a roommate for too long, Fernando."
He stopped and stared at her, looking like a deer caught in headlights but he made no effort to cover himself. He was proud of his body.. "Mona!" He gasped, "What are you doing here? Roommate? Oh no, no, no! There must be a mistake." He whined. "This a joke?" He demanded.
"Maybe it is", Mona shrugged, tossing her bag into the corner. "But I got my orders. Can't complain, someone thought to give me part of this place, things are looking up for me in the world. I suppose it's a small price having to put up with your prancing." She winked.
He took the towel off his head and wrapped it around his waist as he sat in a nearby chair. He said nothing as he thought on the matter. If he had to have a roommate a female was the best kind and looking at Mona, he had to admit she was a looker. He smiled at her. "Well, if I am to have a roommate I am glad its you Mona."
"I'm taking pheromone suppressants, have been for all my time in Starfleet", Mona told him. "So you shouldn't feel any weirder than you already are. Beyond that, I like to think I'm easy to get along with most of the time. I like it clean, but it looks like we're not going to have any issues on that front." She felt it best to get those things out of the way first. "You don't snore, I hope?"
He shook his head, "No I do not snore and as you can see, the quarters are clean." He squared his shoulders, "Fernando is not weird. I am unique." He corrected. "What about you? Any strange habits I should be aware of? Like sleepwalking?"
"Unique, I believe that", Mona grinned. "Well, when in here I usually dress conservatively. Probably not what you'd expect. But I only get dolled up for shore leave or on the holodeck. Don't want to distract too much. Oh, and I've got a bit of a sweet tooth, so I eat all kinds of bad foods at all hours of the day."
He grinned at her, "I usually go the clothing optional route or did but that will change." He admitted. As for the sweet tooth. That is fine. Munch away." He sighed, "No offense but now I will have to be respectable."
"I'll try not to annoy you, and I'm sure you'll do the same", Mona said. "I think we're pretty alike in some ways. So, where do I sleep?"
He shook his head, "Mona you will not annoy me." He assured her. "I worry about annoying you." He stood up, "I have been an improper host, please come with me. I will show you." As he waved at her to follow him.
She picked up her bag again and followed. "Seeing as this is my place, too, you're not just the host. Oh, are you a party person? Have you got a lot of girlfriends over? I've heard stories but I'm not sure how much stock to put in them, especially considering what people tend to say about Orions all the time."
He turned and looked back at her, "A party person? No, not at all. I like to sing and dance but I will tone it down. Don't believe all you have heard. Girlfriends? Of course not Mona. If you want to know about Fernando ask Fernando. Other people do not know. They make up stories to either hurt or try to embarrass." He looked at her and took a deep breath. "I like you Mona and I don't want there to be any problems between us. I am or was a free spirit but out of respect for you. I will stop being so. I don't wish you to be embarrassed or ashamed of me."
"No, be a free spirit", Mona said. "There's enough dull people around, we needn't add to that pool. But I've got to disagree with you. I don't think it's either to hurt or embarrass, I think it's jealousy. Others who don't feel like they could get away with it but would love to, secretly."
He smiled in gratitude at her words. "Perhaps you are right Mona. I will only if you promise to be one as well. If you don't it will be dull here." He stopped in front of an empty bedroom. "This is your room. We will share the living room and bathroom."
It was small but she felt it would be comfortable soon. "I'll set this up with some comforts from home. You don't mind me putting decorations into the living room? Maybe a fishtank, some corals and wee baby turtles?"
He shook his head, "No, of course not Mona. As you pointed out these are your quarters as well. A fish tank would be nice." He admitted, "So would some turtles, will they get very big?" He questioned.
"No, the ones I'm thinking about don't grow larger than my hand", she said. "Well, your hand maybe. We could line the entire wall to the corridor with the tank, above the door to connect the two halves. With the right lights it'll make the room look like a tropical hotel room, or an aqua zoo."
Fernando nodded excitedly as Mona described what she envisioned for their quarters. "I like it!" He replied happily. "What do you need Fernando to do? I will help any way I can Mona."
"Persuade an engineer to install the transparent aluminium slabs, watertight?" Mona asked. She figured they couldn't use just glass, they'd have a flood in their quarters and lots of dead fish after a battle.
"It will be done." He assured her. "Um how big a tank are we talking about my turtledove? And where do we get the fish?" Then stopped, "Sorry. I will be more careful."
"Careful with what?" Mona wondered, putting her bag into the wardrobe. She went back to the living room and started replicating things she wanted, including some fancy underwear which she didn't mind Fernando getting a glimpse of. After all, he was also presenting. "Maybe half a metre into the room, floor to ceiling? We can buy corals and fish and turtles on Bajor, I'm sure. Well, the turtles might be harder to come by. I better place an order straight away. They'll have to ship the eggs from Risa."
He smiled at her, "Thank you Mona, you are going to be a great roommate." Fernando pictured the tank in his mind. "That's a lot of water." He pointed out. "Um. I'm guessing tropical fish? If so we also need a heater for the tank or the fish will get sick and die. Of course we also need a filter or filters."
"Sounds like you've got this planned out already", Mona grinned. "Would you mind? I've got some decorating to do. My previous place was me sharing with three other marines, one of whom hate anything colourful. And one thing's for sure. This place needs more green."
"Just trying to think ahead. Don't want to be caught unprepared." He admitted. "Mind? Mind what?" He questioned. "Go ahead and redecorate. Green is one of my favorite colors."
"Mind setting up the tank, is what I meant", Mona said. "Someone has to. And you might as well put those strong, muscular arms of yours to work." She ran a finger up one of his arms. "I don't mind watching."
He smiled brilliantly at her, "No, I don't mind." He continued, "You are a charmer Mona." He replied as her finger trailed up his arm. "I won't charge you for watching." He teased.
"I haven't done that since I got posted to the Rainbow Warrior", Mona admitted. "Was a quick and easy way to earn some comforts, though."
He chuckled at her admittance, "I think this is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship Mona. I am glad you are here."
"Just wait until I set up a party, see if you'll still like it then", Mona teased.
"I am sure I will." He replied but he was thinking just what kind of party would Mona set up? Would there be other females? Orion females? He stopped the thought. He needed to be on his best behavior with Mona. She was his friend and now roommate.
"Good", she said, then added the first bit of decoration to the living room, a Risian horga'hn as the centrepiece of the table.
