Gary was putting the finishing touches on the Christmas tree. The lights were all in place as were the last of the ornaments. He hadn't put any tinsel on the tree as he thought that was just overkill. He stepped back , then moved to the tree and repositioned a few ornaments. Stepping back for another look, he nodded in approval. He let out a soft sigh, he was feeling especially melancholy and wasn't sure why he only knew he didn't want to be a downer for Lia. He wanted this Christmas to be the best yet for her. She had helped him in so many ways. got him to rejoin the human race. Her love envelope him like a warm blanket. It was total and freely given and he would not ever take it for granted. He had wrapped and hidden her presents so even if she decided to snoop she wouldn't be able to tell what they were.
He walked into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine and checked on the Dabo chicken he was cooking for them, along with the chicken, he had some Japanese mushroom rice and some Japanese fried corn. He knew how much Lia liked the Japanese culture and it's foods and he had to admit it was good. He also had some cheese and crackers along with some Sake for Lia but he wouldn't pour it until she had come home from her shift and changed into a kimono. As he puttered in the kitchen a song came to his head, one he always liked. He had first heard it when his parents played it at the family Christmas when he had returned from three years in a Romulan prison and of course Catlin was right there with him to celebrate. It had been a Christmas to remember. The song represented family and the Elysium was his family, his and Lia's. It was also a tribute to the crew of the Elysium and what they had fought and overcome and even now were still fighting. It was a testament to their spirit.
"Computer play Celebrate Me Home by Kenny Loggins." An instant later the heartfelt, poignant lyrics filled the kitchen and slowly wafted through the rest of the quarters.

He raised his glass in a silent salute to absent friends (Liselle, Matias and Kara) to name three along with Tayalas a little blueberry, Gallia her mom along with Anje Brett his and their friend and absent loves as well as his current family here on the Elysium Phoenix, Arri and Jess. Baeryn and David, Miraj, Victor and the Doc. Then of course Captain Lovejoy and his delightful partner Samantha. In security there was S'hib, Blackford and Kade. Gracefull also from Engineering. There was T'kara, McKay and Kelmeys from the Science Department and how could he forget Heather and Fernando? He couldn't wait to see the Spaniard as a father. Nor could he forget Dr. Voight and Tate Sullivan. Tate had helped put the pieces back together after he and others had been rescued from a Romulan prison. Then there was Alicia and Savar already parents of his mirror's son and now welcoming a daughter to the family. The newest arrivals, Myne and Rin and Rael. And of course the oh so very classy lady named Lia. Who he was going to make sure knew just how special she was and how much she meant to him.
