Garrett sat in his Ready Room; it was almost time for them to make contact
with Admiral Highlaw's ship and put the plan into action. A plan which involved both he and his first officer Gary Taylor to be 'captured' and bound, prisoners of Lily Kass and her gang of mercenaries who in reality were Captain Phoenix Lalor and her team of other undercover Starfleet Officers who were here to arrest Highlaw and others of his organization.

Garrett leaned back, he knew that at the conclusion of this mission, and he had no doubts it would successfully that his days as Captain and Master of the Elysium were over. That Phoenix would again rightfully be captain as it should be. He had been a caretaker, keeping the chair warm for eventual return and trying (He didn't know how successfully) Of keeping the crew together. Jessie was going on medical leave for her PTSD and Arri and Josie had gone missing after leaving the ship shortly after the late Captain Yasmine Carrington had taken command of the Elysium and tried to run it with an iron fist with great failure much to her dismay.

He closed his eyes and thought about how proud he had been to be named Captain of the Elysium even though he would never command the loyalty Phoenix did from the crew. It was just behind having Samantha returned to him by Phoenix and her crew after being trapped in the Mirror Universe for four long, agonizing years. It had forced him to admit he had been wrong about her and the dedicated officers and crew of the Elysium. He had tried his best and thought for the most part he had succeeded. Now it was time for the final act to be played out. The stage was set, the players knew their roles.

He ran his hand along the top of the desk and took a final look around the room. A picture of Sam and Gavin on the desk, a few certificates of accomplishment on the walls, A letter from Commodore Mountbatten naming him Captain of the Elysium and some other nick knacks. It would soon revert back to Phoenix and her tastes. He stood up, ready to head to the bridge and do his part for the crew that he did respect and care for and if need be die for. Though it was doubtful if they would ever know. In their eyes he was an usurper, an underhanded, deceitful officer who had arranged for Phoenix's arrest and imprisonment (Both untrue) It was a role he had been forced to play for this mission to work and stop Highlaw once and for all.

As he headed for the bridge, he stopped and spoke. "Computer, play Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel." A moment later the haunting score and words filled the ready room and Garrett Lovejoy left the ready room for he had a date with destiny.
