Fernando had gotten home early, and he went right to work preparing a special dinner for absolutely no reason other than he wanted to. As he prepared the dinner, he had Cody in the kitchen with him. As he worked, he sang and danced to Cody who cooed and giggled at his father. "Cody, it is clear you know talent when you see it and hear it." Fernando told his son. He then knelt on one knee and told Cody in a whisper like he was telling the infant some very important information and he was. "Do you know what an amazing mom you have? How beautiful, strong and brave she is. We are both very lucky to have such an exceptional woman in our lives. Why? You ask because she loves us, and we love her. She's smart and determined too, went from being a marine sergeant to being an officer. You don't fine any woman better than your mother and you always remember that."

At that moment the doors opened to reveal the lady herself, home from her shift in Sickbay. The smell of food permeating the air made her mouth water. “Something smells absolutely Devine in here!” Heather smiled as she walked over to Cody kissing her little man, before giving Fernando a romantic kiss.

Fernando returned the kiss as he grinned at her, "Well. if you like the smell, I believe you are going to love the meal. it's still got a few minutes to cook. A word of advice, put on clothes you don't mind if they get stained. You can have a roll though to hold you over if you like."

Heather grinned “Hmm sounds interesting, I’ll do that right now.” She stopped to give Cody a playful tickle before heading to get changed. “I’ll save the shower for later, especially if I’m likely to get messy!”

Fernando grinned back, "Sounds good, maybe if you play your cards right you can even get company in the shower."

“Ohhh I’d like that!” Heather grinned as she blew Fernando a kiss, then headed into the bedroom to change.

"Dinner will be ready when you come back." Fernando replied then spoke to Cody. "Alright Cody, let's get you to the table. so we can eat when mommy gets back." As Fernando got Cody in his high chair, He spoke to the computer. "Computer play Nothings Gonna Stop Us by Jefferson Starship." An instant late the song filled their quarters.

“I do so love that song!” Heather practically danced her way over to Fernando. “We even have the same taste in music!”

"But of course, my turtle dove, great minds think alike." Fernando joked as he put one hand on Heather's trim waist and with the other, he took her hand, and they slowly danced in the middle of the kitchen as Cody giggled and laughed.

Heather grinned at Cody she loved to hear his little laugh. “You, Imzadi, are amazing! I never thought I’d find a man who’d make my life so complete, and yet here you are!”

Fernando continued to waltz around the kitchen with Heather. Their love for one another was as fresh and as vibrant as ever. "I love you, Heather. Now and forever. You complete me. You are my best friend, lover and confidant. You are also an amazing mother to Cody. I would be lost without you."

“Well you need not worry” Heather grinned. “I’m going nowhere! I would be as equally lost without you.”

Fernando smiled a radiant smile. "I am very glad to hear and know that Heather."

Heather gave her husband a curious look. “So, what are you cooking for us Imzadi?”

Fernando grinned brilliantly at her. "Baby back ribs, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. It is safe to say you will get messy my love."

“Mmmm delicious! With bbq sauce by any chance?” Heather loved bbq ribs, they were one of her favourite foods.

"You know it, Heather but I have plenty of napkins for us, so we can enjoy this meal to the fullest." Fernando replied with a grin.

“We could just use cutlery you know!” Heather grinned. “Saves all the mess.”

"Noooooooo Heather! That takes all the fun out of eating ribs, The messier you get the better the ribs." Fernando pointed out. "However, if you wish to use a knife and fork, be my guest. I'm using my fingers."

“Ohhh no! I’m not spoiling the fun!” Heather grinned. “Fingers it will be!”

"That's my girl!" Fernando said happily, "Have a seat while I get the ribs out." As Fernando turned and brought forth a pan that held a rack of ribs covered in a rich BBQ sauce that still sizzled. "Careful they are still hot." He then brought a plate of biscuits and bowl of mashed potatoes to the table. "I hope you enjoy them as much as I do Heather."

“Silly question...why the biscuits?” Heather looked at Fernando curiously. “Seems an odd accompaniment for mashed potato with ribs.”

Fernando nodded, "I agree but the answer is simple, I wanted some honey butter biscuits and there good for dipping in the BBQ sauce."

“Ahhh I see” Heather grinned. “Then I need to try these honey butter biscuits. Can’t say I’ve ever had them before.”

"They are delicious!" Fernando answered as he held the plate so Heather could get a biscuit.

Taking a biscuit Heather dipped it in bbq sauce before taking a bite. “Mmm... not bad but I’m not convinced it’s a dinner time thing for me.” She grinned as she finished it off before starting on her main meal.

"That's okay Heather, more for me and Cody to enjoy." Fernando said with a grin as he grabbed another biscuit.

“Is that so?” Heather grinned. “You’d have to make biscuit mush for Cody then, he’s not on solids yet remember?” She grinned as she got stuck in, picking up her ribs with her fingers to eat them.

Fernando grinned, "Well, yeah now but when gets on solids, he's going to love these, you just wait and see Heather." Fernando bantered as he picked up the ribs with his fingers and took a bite. "Yum. yum." He exclaimed.

Heather grinned. “Yum indeed!” She politely tucked into her ribs, it was silly fun with sticky fingers from the bbq sauce.

Fernando was thoroughly enjoying the ribs. His fingers were sticking with sauce as was his face, but the ribs were so good! He was glad he had the fore thought to have an ample supply of napkins on the table for them to use. He nodded his head, "Yum indeed!"

Heather couldn’t help but giggle at the state of Fernando’s face. “How on Earth do you get bbq sauce everywhere?” In comparison she was managing to keep clean with the exception of her fingers.

Fernando shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know Heather; I just know i love ribs and it seems the more I like them the messier I get." He answered reaching for some more ribs and then some napkins. Even Cody was giggling at him.

“Well Cody thinks you’re funny!” She couldn’t help but grin. “This is so much fun!!”

"Our son is an excellent judge of character as well as having a sense of humor." Fernando answered making a funny face at Cody, who giggled even more.

“Giggler!!” Heather grinned at Cody. “I can’t wish for more, the two of you are my whole world.”

"You are mine and Cody's world Heather. We would lost without you." Fernando answered with BBQ sauce smeared all over his face.
