Etrara had been resting waited on by Zac who seemed intent on not leaving her alone. After the hospitalization and then the results of her ‘sparring’ injury on the holodeck with Lieutenant Commander S’hib he seemed determined nothing else would happen to her. She lay back and stretched her toes looking at her Bat’leth hanging on the wall. On the dressing table her meditation box lay unopened as yet. The mirror, the only item bequeathed to her by her mother hung on the wall beside the bed. She turned and studied herself closely in the glass surrounded by cherubs and golden scrolls. It was not something she would have chosen but it was her last link to her mother. Once she had found and killed her father she would smash it, but for now it hung there, her half Klingon features surrounded by her human half.

She slid down in the bed her red silk nightgown slipping on the black silk sheets. When Zac had brought her home from Sickbay he had gallantly spent the first few nights on the couch but, eventually she had begged him to sleep in the bed with her. She loved to hug him feeling his strong body next to hers and his smell surrounding her as she fell asleep. Maybe one day, she thought they would be able to make love. She imagined a little boy looking very much like Zac with blue eyes wrapped in her arms as she told him stories of war and glory. “Zac” she called, “have you ever thought about having a family?”

Zac was in the bathroom brushing his teeth and leaned back so he could see Etrara, "Hmm?" He questioned, leaning back over the sink to rinse his mouth out. "A family? Sure, but they have been abstract thoughts, you know? Set in the future, some unspecific date. Why? Are you wishing to start a family" He questioned both excited and confused by the question. While nothing would please him more than Etrara carrying his child, he knew there were certain issues Etrara needed to deal with and he would never pressure her. It would happen when it happened and not before or ever if that was to be.

“I was thinking about Lieutenant Commander S’hib and the way families and sex come so easily to his race. And the think he is , gosh I have forgotten her name, is she his wife? I’ve forgotten but she is not of his race.” She thought for a minute, “are you coming to bed yet?” She asked hopefully. She knew he would be careful but, there were still things they could do together. “Hurry up!” She exclaimed.

Zac came out of the bathroom, he was dressed in pajama pants and t-shirt. "Whose name? Oh, you mean Colonel Naxea. No, she's Bajoran." He grinned at her, "I'm coming to bed right now, my darling." He answered all but jumping into bed next to her. He snuggled up next to her, "Why are you thinking of S'hib and his girlfriend. I think they aren't married. Anyway, the question remains. Why are you thinking about them?"

“I was just thinking about the mating differences between species so diverse as a Sequus and a Bajoran.” She slipped her hand under his t-shirt and began, ever so gently to play with a nipple, pressing her body next to his at the same time. It would be now or never she thought. “Oh by the way I invited them to dinner so you could cook for them.” Etrara waited in the silence which seemed deafening.

Zac moaned in pleasure as Etrara's hand massaged his chest. He stiffened when she calmly announced she had invited S'hib and the Colonel to dinner, and he could cook for them. He said nothing for several seconds before he managed to say, "You did what Etrara?" His question deceptively calm.

“Well I initially asked S’hib not knowing he had a significant other, or that she was a Colonel. I felt sorry for him, it must be difficult being a Sequus on board..” Etrara gave up “I’m sorry Zac but I thought you liked to cook? I’ll help if I can.” She moved her hand down his back and gently massaged his buttocks hoping to take his mind off the bombshell she had just dropped.

"I do like to cook Etrara, I love to cook for you." He sighed, "I don't know what to cook a Sequus or a Colonel. I'm flying blind here." He smiled, "Don't apologize, you invited them. I'll figure something to cook that we all can enjoy. When did you tell them to come over?" He moaned in pleasure as she massaged his backside, "Sneaky Klingon. Getting me distracted. Well, it worked." He grinned at her.

Etrara laughed, “that’s me, sneaky. I know The Colonel likes spicy Bajoran but S’hib not so much. I can always ask him!” She began to breath deeply intent on pleasuring him but there was always the longing that came over her. Her hand slipped round his side tickling gently as she went until she held him in her hand. “Spicy Bajoran,” she whispered in his ear. “Maybe some hay for S’hib?”

Zac chuckled at her and kissed her cheek. "I don't think serving hay for a meal would endear me to S'hib or even the Colonel for that matter. I'm thinking of seafood with a salad so that should make everyone happy." He looked into her eyes, "I love you very much."

“Actually that sounds wonderful Zac.” She leant over and kissed him. “And I love you too, you are my joy.” She curled up next to him until there was no space between them so he could not see her tears.

Zac hugged her tightly. "I know you're upset because there is more you want us to do but please don't be my love. It will happen and when it does it will be glorious. So, please be happy because I am."

Etrara suddenly pushed herself up onto her elbow, “Zac did you hear that it sounded like something twisting, like plexiglass!”

Zac was suddenly alert and looking around their quarters. "No, I don't hear anything Etrara." He started to get out of bed.

For a moment the lights flickered and then went out and they were in the dark. Etrara was already up and climbing into her uniform despite still being on sick leave. Then the lights came on again and there was a deep booming sound and the wall to the corridor blew in, people ran past in panic. “Zac!” Screamed Etrara as the floor began to shake. It was difficult to keep her feet and then the lights went out again. She looked towards the window and to her horror saw a large crack creeping across. “Zac we have to get out NOW! Bloody ghe'tor by qeylis” she swore in Klingon. “Zac, ZAC THE WINDOW IS BREACHING!”

Zac scrambled around looking for his uniform, finding it and throwing his pants on, even as the floor shook, and he could hear screams from the corridor. He got his tunic on and was beginning to put his boots on when Etrara screamed at him about the window. "Oh, bloody hell!" He screamed as he grabbed her by the arm, his boots in his other and as he pulled out of the cabin before the window completely broke.

They barreled out into the corridor through the wall into a seeming mass of screaming people. “Everybody get out the window is breaching, “ Etrara called helping people as they raced towards the bulkheads before they closed.

Zac and Etrara moved with the swarm of other crew members towards the bulkheads, but he really expected to be sucked out into space, The window in their cabin couldn't last must longer.

Etrara stood by the bulkhead, “MOVE IT PEOPLE” she screamed as the seeming last of the crew raced into the corridor. “I’m going back Zac to make sure we have everyone!” She exclaimed.

"Oh, hell no you aren't Etrata!" He yelled at her then added, "At least not by yourself you are." He finished as he got uniform on and his boots and looked halfway presentable.

Etrara took off back down the corridor running passed their quarters glancing at the window as she ran. The crack had lengthened and was only a couple of inches away from the top. The corridor curved around and she almost tripped over an ensign gripping her ankle. “I tripped, can’t walk!” She cried. Etrara bent and picked up the slim woman, throwing her over her shoulder. “Zac, check those rooms?” she called as she began to move back down the corridor.

Zac didn't need to be told twice. He took off on a dead run checking the remaining rooms as he ran. He'd stick his head into the room, call out, wait a few seconds and if no answer moves to the next room. All the while knowing that window was going to break soon and then all hell was really going to break loose. He half checked the last room...empty and was headed back to Etrara. He passed their quarters looked in and his eyes widened in horror the window was spiderwebbing! "Cracks running all along it. "Take cover! Grab onto something! The window is breaking!" And it did and he was thrown forward into bulkhead.

Etrara had reached the other side of the bulkhead and had slid her load down onto the floor. She turned hearing Zac shouting and saw him hit the bulkhead just a few inches away. She grabbed his hands and with all her strength pulled him through just as the bulkhead door closed. The sound of an explosion behind the bulkhead could be heard. “I loved that nightdress” Etrara said and burst into laughter and tears. So, what now?” She asked.
