Same time Victor walked into Engineering, so did Napoleon Bond. Napoleon went to go help Lorelei with the Communications System while Victor looked at each progress of each team.
Napoleon said to Lorelei Lee, “So a quantum filament took every system offline but managed to keep up power up so we can manage to repair.”
“That is about the gist of it Napoleon,” Lorelei sighed a bit. “Basically we are charging everything up so we can repair everything. It is a long tedious process but it is the only way.”
“Agreed,” Napoleon replied, “We must allow our systems to evolve back to the way they were.”
One of the new ones who wanted prove himself was Cadet Travis Trent. He was killed early as he was trying to prove himself right. He felt by supercharging the warp core, it would place everything back to normal. Ensign Johann Jakob Schmidt told him if he tried what he was planning, it would not work. It caused a backlash causing the system to put out a big burst. If Schmidt was any closer, he would have been toasted just like Trent was. Fortunately, it did cause the system to get some power.
Victor upon hearing this told his crew, “I know some of you want to be Superman but trying to be Superman, it would get you killed like Cadet Trent. Who was with him when he died besides Schmidt?”
“No one else,” Schmidt responded. “I told him it would not work. He then literally went behind my back and did it any way.”
Napoleon a bit puzzled. He made adjustments to a portable replicator as he was able to give enough juice to make several parts for the engineers to used.
Louis placed the three dead engineers in a safe place so their bodes could be given the due respect.
Tarr Zell was hanging from the wall as he was pushing the power rods in place.
Lorelei with the help of five other engineers were working on the warp core.
Tonya was distributing the few parts they were able to replicate. This quantum filament must have something like a sporadic electric magnetic pulse because a lot of equipment was hurt from it.
Victor managed to get a console up so now he would be able to get this process to move faster. “Seems we had procedures in place in case this would ever happen but this one was a very long one Tonya.”
“Victor,” Tonya interrupted for a moment. “My parents are with the children. Lara wanted to help but my father ordered her to stay in the quarters.”
“How do you know this?” Victor seemed puzzled.
“Because I just received a message from her PADD,” Tonya answered. “When the power came up shortly, a message came through.”
“Thank God,” Victor smiled, “Okay everyone. This is going to take awhile but then maybe not. Do not try to be a hero and if you feel one is in danger, bring it to my attention. We have lost three engineers I know of from this quantum flux. Two by the flux and one by trying to fix it. Safety First Everyone.”
