The wind swept by gentling gliding over Lieutenant Vermes face as she stood just outside a resort on her home planet of Risa. She had requested to be beamed down near the beach so she could enjoy the planet before seeing her parents. Instantly the warmth of the sun warmed her skin. Vira took a deep breath, so deep her expanded lungs felt like they were attempting to break free from their cage inside her chest. No simulation could ever replicate the vibrant feelings her senses basked in when home. The sun slightly irritated her space weary eyes causing her to blink and squint a bit as she looked out to the glittering water. Slowly the sounds of others around her enjoying their respites. It was not uncommon to see more visitors then natives here. Especially at a resort most frequented by visitors from off world.

Visitors were the ones who painted the universe in adventure and intrigue for Vira. They came bearing exciting and thrilling stories of space pirates, war, or unknown fascinating scientific finds. The stories of discovering new species was by far her favorite. It all seemed so...limitless. It was members of Starfleet's courageous heroes that inspired her to leave the pleasure planet she called home in search of a life more satiable.

With a smile she started down the familiar road, nodding and returning hellos to those she passed. It was all too easy to let her guard down here. To feel safe for the first time in what felt like months. The Elysium did not fail to keep her on her toes, with hostile take overs and the changing of captains she had no choice but to keep her guard up. Not trusting anyone too easily. It was daunting to someone so free spirited.

Adjusting her pack as she rounded a corner her family home came into view. She regretted wearing her uniform in such a hot climate, it made her skin itchy and uncomfortable. But she was proud of her commitment to Starfleet and wanted to show that to her parents. All three of them. The Vemre family dynamic was not common to a lot of her peers. Most gave her a squinted brow when she spoke about her father and two mothers. It made it awkward to speak about home with others. She even shied away from going into detail with Damien about them. Not that she didn't think he would understand. He was one of the most open minded people she had met and a characteristic she loved about him.

She wished she had invited him home with her. It's not that it felt too soon, this was just her first time visiting since joining the Elysium and the last time person she brought home was Baeryn. When they had returned to duty things had gotten weird and Baeryn distant. She wanted to avoid that this go around.

The family home had two large windows in the front surrounded by colorful plants and flowers. They soaked up the sun in the early morning hours, but in the evening, there was a clear view inside. Fluttering around inside Vira could see a women with dark platted hair. The sight of her namesake mother Mira gave her a giddy but sad feeling. Her eyes began to burn as the woman inside turned and slowly began to register whom she was seeing. Mira gasped and ran to the front door, moments later opening the worn wooden door and shouting her daughters name. "Vira! Your home!"
