It had been a long day for Victor as he and his crew was working non-stop bringing the ship back to square one. Tonya came up to Victor saying, “You have been up for forty nine hours straight. You must get some rest. I have had my nap, so you must take a rest. If not, you will not be any good for any of us. I have a cot laid out for you. It is made up and it has a pillow.
Victor smiled as he knew better not to argue with his wife. He recalled how the Tonya from the other reality would often do the same. Even though he was only married to the other one for almost two years, she showed him how a wife should be. His mother never married and there were only few role models he knew which were married.
Tonya watched him go to his cot to lay down. Victor walked over to the cot to rest. As soon as head hit the pillow, he passed out. Instead of having a dream, a memory replayed in his head.
The year 2379, a month after the incident on Romulus, Victor was being tutored by two of the engineers under Geordi LaForge.
Lt. Junior Grade Alan Collins and his wife Lt Junior Grade Haylee Collins. Alan’s specialty was mechanical while Haylee’s specialty dealt with electrical. The merger of the two of them created a positive charge and at this time, they had a three year son named Alan Junior.
Alan and Haylee rotated their shifts so the two of them could raise their son. Alan adored his wife and he let everyone know he did because Alan was a dashing gentleman and often Alan was approached by women.
Young Victor was studying schematics of the Enterprise. He recalled years ago, Wesley Crusher would teach him as Wesley himself was learning and now Victor was being taught by the Collins.
Some how in the dream Victor was having of his childhood, Victor sensed he needed to rest, so he fell deeper asleep as working in his dream exhausted him more.
Now Victor was laying on a Mediterranean beach at sunset with Tonya at his side. He was then able to rest as he it seemed he rested for a whole day.
Three hours later, Victor woke up as he felt he had his second wind. Tonya could tell Victor could go further now.
“How do you feel?” Tonya softly asks him.
“I must have slept for hours,” Victor remarked looking gently into Tonya’s eyes.
“Actually you slept for three hours and eight minutes,” Tonya says holding his hand. “We seem to be going faster now but we still have a long road ahead of us. “The Marines checked in on us. God Bless the Marines.”
“And God bless you,” Victor said as he stood up. “A cup of coffee and I will be good to go.”
Tonya fixed him a cup of coffee and handed it to him as the two proceeded with Engineering duties.
