Fernando had everything in place for when Heather came through the door of their quarters. When she entered, she would first see the balloons, red ones, white ones floating from the ceiling. Then she would see the stuffed teddy bear hold a box of chocolates and a card from Cody that said. "I love you mommy! You are the bestest mommy in the universe!" After that she would (hopefully) notice the rose pedals on the floor which would lead her to the master bedroom. She would find more balloons, another teddy bear the companion to the one from Cody. A vase full of red roses on her night table, a card from Fernando which read, "My dearest, darling Heather. I love you more and more with each passing day. You are my passion, my desire, my burning love. You are the light in my life. Thank you for being my wife." Then below a poem by William Shakespeare.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;

There was one final gift for Heather, under her pillow a small velvet box. When she opened it, she would find a necklace with two hearts intertwined. Diamonds around them with the inscription, "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. We are forever united." Then their names Heather and Fernando.

Then of course there was the Valentine's Day meal. There was the main course of shrimp scampi, mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. All he could do now was wait for Heather to come through the door as he hid behind the bedroom door.

Arriving home after a long day Heather had completely forgotten what day it was, that was until she walked through the door. Stopping in her tracks she stood opened mouthed at first, see all the red & white balloons, which were floating around. Her eyes then fell on the stuffed teddy bear, approaching it she grinned as she saw it was holding a box of chocolates and a card from Cody. Picking up the card she read what it said. "I love you mommy! You are the bestest mommy in the universe!" She couldn’t help but wipe away a few happy tears. Looking around her eyes fell on a trail of rose pedals on the floor, putting down her card she followed the trail to the bedroom.

Fernando from his hiding place (behind the door) in the master bedroom heard Heather come in. He heard her stop and she must have been reading the card from Cody. Then her footsteps resumed, and she was coming towards the bedroom and closer to him as she entered it.

Heather was so caught up in the moment her own emotions shrouded Fernando’s presence from her senses. Seeing the teddy bear waiting for her, along with more balloons, she marvelled at the vase of beautiful red roses that had been left for her. She gently sat on the edge of the bed to read her card. "My dearest, darling Heather. I love you more and more with each passing day. You are my passion, my desire, my burning love. You are the light in my life. Thank you for being my wife." She wiped away more happy tears especially as she read the poem that was there waiting as well.

Fernando peeked out from behind the door and saw Heather sitting on the bed, the card in her hand crying. "Heather?" He asked as he came from behind the door to sit next to her. " Is everything alright? Are you alright?" As he took her hand in one of his and gave it a gentle squeeze. "What is it? Tell me, what is wrong?" He turned her head, so she was facing him, saw her tears, and gently wiped them away. My dearest, please tell me, what is wrong?" He asked misreading the situation.

Heather wiped her eyes feeling very silly as she cuddled Fernando. “There’s nothing wrong Imzadi, everything is just... amazing!!” She picked up the teddy and hugged it. “I wasn’t expecting any of this!”

"But you deserve all of it my darling." Fernando whispered as he wrapped his arms around Heather. "You are so very loved by Cody and me and we wanted to make sure you knew it."

Heather smiled. “Thank you so much Fernando, I’m going to treasure all of this.”

Fernando smiled brilliantly at heather's statement. "Good my love because we treasure you."

“As I treasure both of you Imzadi” Heather smiled warmly. “Speaking of which where is Cody?”

"Asleep in his bed. I tired him out earlier so we could have some alone time and just enjoy each other's company, my angel." Fernando replied.

“Ohhh thinking ahead huh?” Heather grinned as she put down the teddy. “I can’t think of anything I’d like better, than some romantic time alone with you.”

Fernando nodded, "When it comes to you my angel, I am always thinking ahead. However, before we have our quality time together, I have a nice romantic dinner prepared for us and you have one more gift. It is under your pillow."

Heather gave Fernando a curious look, she reached underneath her pillow and pulled out box, opening it she was surprised to see a beautiful necklace with two diamond surround hearts intertwined. An inscription read "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. We are forever united." On it was their names Heather and Fernando. “Ohh Fernando! This is so beautiful, thank you!!” She gently lifted it from the box. “Help me put it on?”

"I will be glad to help." Fernando answered as he took the necklace and placed it around Heather's neck where he fastened it in place and then gently kissed her neck. "I love you Heather, now and forever."

“I love you too Imzadi” Heather smiled as she returned his kiss. “Actually I err... I brought something I thought you’d like for Valentines.” She reached under the bed pulling out a very sexy piece of lingerie. “I was planning on being here before you, so I could put it on and be your present!” She grinned a wry grin.

Fernando smiled with approval at the lingerie Heather was holding up for him to see. "I like that very much Heather. I would enjoy you being my present that I could enjoy again and again."

Heather leant in for another kiss. “Good, because I’m all yours to enjoy once we’ve had dinner of course.”

"Oh, but of course my turtle dove. We will need all the energy dinner affords us." Fernando grinned at Heather.

Heather nodded. “In that case I need to change into something appropriate for dinner, rather than my uniform.” She smiled as she began removing her uniform.

Fernando watched as Heather began to undress. His desire for her increasing. "This should make mealtime most interesting." He pointed out.

Heather grinned as she removed the remainder of her uniform just leaving her lingerie and necklace as she walked across to the wardrobe. “I think...” she pulled out a dress she knew Fernando loved. “This one” The dress had a plunge neckline and was pretty short in length as well, a dress designed to please. “Would you help me zip this up please?”

Fernando moved to Heather, standing behind her. "It will be my pleasure." He remarked as he zipped the dress up and then leaned in and kissed her neck softly "I do so love you, Heather." He whispered and added, "I wish to unzip it as well."

“Ohh you’ll get to do just that after dinner!” Heather smiled as she turned around. “You are my universe, my heart and my soul are yours for all time Imzadi.”

Fernando's arms slipped around her waist. "I am looking forward to that." Then softer he answered, "I would be lost without you Heather. My heart would be shattered if you were not here with me on life's journey."

“I will always be here Imzadi.” Heather smiled as she held onto Fernando’s arm as they made their way out of the bedroom. “Actually there’s something I want to talk to you about. Just something I’ve been thinking on lately.”

They walked into the small dining room and Fernando pulled out her chair. "Of course, Heather. Let me bring dinner out and we can talk. Oh, I also have wine to go with dinner."

“Sounds wonderful” Heather smiled warmly as she shook out her napkin and placed it on her lap. Something her mother had always taught her to do when she was young.

It took a few minutes, but Fernando soon had the entire meal out and ready for Heather and himself to enjoy. He poured them both a glass of red wine. He raised his glass to Heather, "To you Heather, You hold my heart. I am so very lucky to have you as my wife and best friend."

Heather raised her glass to the toast. “To both of us Fernando, and our love for one another.” She sipped her wine.

Fernando clinked his glass against hers. " A toast, I fully agree with. I am pleased you like it, Heather. What did you wish to talk about?" He asked as he took a sip of his wine.

“Actually... I was thinking about Cody, and how much he might benefit in having a sibling.” She gave Fernando a curious look wondering if he had given any consideration to having another child. “I know when I first became mother to Cody that it was difficult for you, given the circumstances of his being from the mirror universe. He’s our son and nothing will change that, but I’d like to give you a child of your own.”

Fernando put down his fork and knife and listened to Heather and what she said about having another child. As she finished a smile came to his face. "Actually, my love, I think Cody having a brother or sister is a wonderful idea." He nodded, "It was but I am past that. Cody is our child. The same goes for you Heather, for you to have a child of your own. My concern is us. You are an officer you have increased duties and obligations as do I being a senior chief. However I believe we can do this. We may have to reshuffle duty shifts but it is a small price to pay."

Heather smiled and nodded she wasn’t sure Fernando would see having another child the way she did. “I wasn’t sure if you’d agree with me or not, but I’m glad that you do. Like you said we can work out duty shifts.”

Fernando smiled at Heather. "My darling, there is nothing we cannot do as long as we are together."

Heather smiled and nodded as she politely started eating her dinner. Fernando was a wonderful cook, what replicators didn’t do so well he did wonderfully. “Mmm this is wonderful my love!”

Fernando returned Heather's smile. "I am glad you like it my precious." He replied as he took a bite and grinned. "Say, this is good!" He teased. He loved doing things for Heather as she was always so appreciative and never forgot to show it.

“But of course! It was cooked by the best chef aboard!” She grinned as she looked at Fernando. “You know him very well.”

Fernando laughed heartily at Heather's comment. "I appreciate your comment and your support Heather. As for being the best cook aboard. I don't know. I heard Commander Taylor talking about Captain Taylor's cooking and how good it is. She was raving. Sounds like he knows his way around a kitchen."

“Ohh does he now?” Heather smiled. “Perhaps we’d better check out the competition some time.” She grinned as she tucked into some more of her food.

Fernando chuckled, "I'm only repeating what I have heard Heather. For all I know, Captain Taylor may not even know how to boil water." he finished laughing again and getting back to his meal.

Heather couldn’t help but grin. “So... what plans do we have for dessert?”

Fernando beamed at Heather's question. "Ahhhhh Heather my love you are in for a treat. I have a special cake for you, A Derby Cake that I hope you not only like but love."

“A Derby cake? I’m not sure I’m familiar with that one, but I can’t wait to see what it is!” Heather smiled before continuing with her dinner. It didn’t take her long to finish what was left. “That my love... was absolutely wonderful.”

"I am glad you liked it Heather. I hope you left room for dessert." Fernando answered as he moved plates to bring out what he hoped was a spectacular ending to a wonderful meal.

As Fernando brought out dessert just the site of it made Heather’s mouth water. “Now that looks absolutely, insanely delicious! You called it a Derby cake?”

As Fernando put the cake down on the table he answered Heather. "Yes my love. According to its history. It was popular in the United States of America at a sporting event called the Kentucky Derby. A horse race."

“Well that’s something I never knew before. Would you cut me a piece please?” She couldn’t wait to try the cake, it was well known that Betazoids liked Chocolate.

"Of course, Heather." Fernando replied with a grin as he cut a piece for heather and then one for himself. "Here you go Heather. Tell me what you think." As he handed her the plate.

Heather couldn’t wait to get stuck into the very rich looking piece of cake. Cutting off a piece with a fork due to the nature of the cake, she put it into her mouth closing her eyes as she savoured it. “Mmmmm!”

Fernando looked at her, "I take it that you approve of this cake?" He asked but if the happy expression on Heather's face was anything to go by then the Derby cake was a winner.

“You... bet I do!!” Heather grinned. “Put this on my list of favourite cakes!” She couldn’t resist tucking into more savouring every little bite she took, until she finally finished off the whole slice Fernando had given her.

Fernando chuckled at her comment. He loved seeing Heather happy. "Derby Cake, added to Heather's list of favorite cakes, check." He grinned at her and cut her another slice. "Here Heather, have another slice."

“I never say no to cake, no matter how rich they are!” Heather grinned as she accepted the extra slice. “Chocolate is a natural mood booster to us Betazoids you know.”

"Then I am happy to boost your mood Heather." Fernando answered as he took a bite of the cake. "Wow! This is good!" He said as he got ready to take another bite.

“Well while you’re finishing eating...” Heather finished off her second slice then rose from her seat. “I’ll be back in a minute.” She smiled and headed into the bedroom with plans to give Fernando a sexy surprise.

Fernando looked up from his slice of cake, a look of surprise on his face as Heather rose from the table. "Heather?" He questioned as she headed for their bedroom. He shrugged and went back to his slice of cake. Heather was right, this was good!

Having changed into her lingerie Heather looked at herself in the mirror. This was the first time since she’d given birth to Cody that she’d worried about how she looked. As she was breastfeeding Cody her bust line had increased in size, she’d had to take that into account when buying her lingerie. Walking to the bedroom door she stood appealingly in the doorway. “I thought you’d like this...”

Fernando looked up from eating his slice of Derby cake and almost choked. Heather was a beautiful woman and now standing there in sexy lingerie she was even more beautiful, more appealing. He smiled broadly at her, "Oh, you thought correctly Heather only I don't like it, I love it." He finished as he rose from his chair and moved to her. "Absolutely beautiful." He muttered as he wrapped his arms around her.

Heather smiled the biggest smile yet. “I’m glad you like it, but don’t rush your cake for me, I’ll wait if you can stand waiting that long.”

Fernando shook his head, "Oh no Heather, my little rose. I am done. The cake is good but you are divine, and it is you I want to spend my evening with."

Heather smiled. “Good, because I plan to show you just how much you mean to me, and how much I missed making love to you whilst I was recovering from Cody’s birth.”

Fernando chuckled at Heather's exuberance. "That is a plan I heartily agree with and one I am definitely looking forward to as a willing participant. I am sure it will be most entertaining. Um just one thing Heather, It is okay for us to resume lovemaking? I do not wish for you to have any problems that result from us having a good time."

“We’ve waited long enough, I must admit I’m a little nervous” She offered a wry smile. “I’m not back on birth control yet but if we want another baby then it doesn’t matter anyway. Plus it could take time for me to conceive again.”

Fernando scooped Heather into his arms, "Well, there is no better time than now and what are we waiting for?" He playfully questioned as he headed for the bedroom.

Heather giggled as Fernando lifted and carried her to the bedroom. “I can’t wait Imzadi.”

Fernando kissed her cheek, "Never let it be said that I, Fernando De la Rosa kept his wife waiting." As they reached the bed and he gently lowered heather on to it.

“You never keep me waiting Imzadi” Heather grinned as she wrapped her arms around Fernando’s neck, and gently pulled him down for a romantic kiss.

Fernando peppered Heather's lips and throat with soft, feathery kisses. "And I won't keep you waiting now." He muttered as his lips rose from hers.

“I know you won’t Imzadi” Heather smiled as her fingers moved to Fernando’s clothing, helping him to undress.

In a matter of a few seconds, Fernando and Heather were both naked and happily enjoying each other's company. " You are my world, Heather. I love you," Fernando whispered kissing her neck.

“I love you too Imzadi” Heather smiled as she encouraged Fernando. “Forever more.”

"Music to my ears, my precious love." Fernando answered as he continued his kissing of Heather.

“I want to forget the universe around us exists tonight Fernando.” She looked into his eyes.

"Your wish is my command, Heather." Fernando replied with quiet intensity. "I will make you forget everything but my love for you."

OOC: The richness of this moist, buttermilk chocolate cake is intensified by utilizing the molasses notes of brown sugar (in addition to granulated sugar) and adding a generous sprinkling of chocolate chips in the batter. And then, you top the cake with an insanely delicious bourbon buttercream, candied walnuts, and a chocolate drizzle. Yeah, it's some kind of wonderful.
