Alicia sat in the small area she had in medical for Counselling sessions, the door open for any that might want to walk in. With the recent attack on Miraj she was horrified that anyone could be so cold, and deliberate in their actions. To blame Miraj for an action that she took to save the ship and crew in the first place.
She sighed as she plotted through reports that stated worrying behaviours from some of the ship’s crew, frayed tempers were turning into fights, those fights were becoming more frequent. It wasn’t a good turn of events.
Right now she was worried for the children amongst the crew, there were orphans that had no one, they were being cared for along with the rest of the crew but it was a nightmare for them. She looked up as someone appeared in her doorway.
“Hi Alicia” Emily offered a brief smile. “Can I talk to you?”
Alicia nodded. “Sure, come on in” She smiled warmly.
Walking in Emily closed the door behind her. “I err...” she took a seat. “Where do I start? With the fact that I fell in love with a woman, or that the man I left her for is now in a coma!” She sighed. “I doomed myself, at least that’s how it feels.”
Alicia nodded. “You haven’t doomed yourself Emily, we all have a change of heart from time to time. I take it you mean Elijah? I heard about his condition, I’m sorry.”
Emily nodded. “Thank you. He’s been working so hard, then he fell ill and they can’t do anything for him. He’s in a coma until we can get him back to Starfleet, or find a cure for him.” She shook her head. “I love him, there’s no second guessing myself, I feel it, but there’s nothing I can do to help him!”
“What about the woman you spoke of?” Alicia gave Emily a curious look.
“She...she’s hurt that I left her. She wasn’t very happy when I went to see her” Emily sighed. “I’m trying to give her space, I’m hoping she’ll forgive me.”
Alicia smiled and nodded. “That’s a good idea. She might come round.”
“Actually I...” Emily paused. “I’m considering offering a home to one of the orphans, they don’t have anyone now. They’re all alone. I had George, he was my life, my rock. I want to be able to offer that to one of those children.”
“It’s a big decision Emily, as long as you’re sure you can cope with being a parent, I’ll support you in any way I can.”
Emily smiled and nodded. “Thank you Alicia, I feel better now I’ve got some of that off my chest.”
“Well I’m always around if you need to talk” Alicia smiled warmly.
“I’ll remember that” Emily nodded. “I need to get back, but I will come and see you again.” Getting up she headed for the door, pausing to offer a warm smile before leaving the room.
Smiling Alicia picked up a new PADD, if Emily was serious about offering a home to one of the orphans then she’d need to provide a reference for the adoption services, there was no time like the present to start one.
