Moses was moving through the camp, having just been relieved of his watch rotation, he decided that he wanted a drink, and not synthehol, but a real drink. He had heard of someone opening a bar nearby, and so he decided to Check it out.
As he made his way to where the bar was located, he caught sight of fellow marine NCO, Gunnery Sergeant Luxa Gami. The two of them had been workout partners the last few months, and he had started to feel a strong attraction for her. He wasn't sure if she felt the same for him, but, thought he had caught her admiring him a few times. After what they all had just gone through, he felt that it would be wrong to not find out if she felt as he did.
So, he put himself out there. "Luxa!" He called out,his deep voice sounding almost like a rolling thunder.
"Hey Moses," she called back as he approached her. Where are you headed?"
Smiling warmly to the attractive woman and fellow Marine, Moses replied. "I just heard of a new bar that was set up around here. Care to join me in checking out their wares?"
Gami shrugged in response. "Sure, that sounds good. I could use some down time between patrols and helping to care for Sle'anna."
Moses smiled, his bright white teeth standing in stark contrast to his obsidian-dark skin. "And how is our newest treasure doing?" He hadn't seen the Colonel's new baby yet, as he didn't have the relationship with his superior officer that Luxa did.
"She's definitely going to be a handful when she gets older," Luxa said as they walked towards a newly set up shelter. "So who runs this new bar?"
"Yeah," Moses grinned. "With the Colonel as her mother and Commander S'hib as her Papa, I can only imagine that she is gonna be all kinds of mischief as she grows up." He chuckled softly as they walked, then, he answered Gami's question. "One of the civies, I think. I can't remember the name, though they did name the place, 'Igloo'."
"Oh, good. Something else to remind me of this frozen hell. I can't wait to be off this damned planet," Luxa complained. "Remind me to kick this civilian's ass after I take his stock," she joked.
Moses chuckled and grinned. While on the outside, he seemed calm and collected, inside he was feeling very nervous. He silently chastised himself for being a coward. So, he took a deep breath and asked the question.
"So, Luxa... I was wondering...would you be interested in spending more time together...together?"
Luxa paused at the entrance to the bar. Normally, she would tease him, but she could sense that he was being serious. She turned and looked at him for a moment. "You're being serious? Why do you want to be with me?" Luxa never really considered a relationship with Moses before though she wasn't against it but she felt there were better suitors among the crew than her.
He gave her a soft grin and replied. "Because you're wonderful, funny, whip-smart, have a good heart...not to mention a body that is...well.." he wiggled his eyebrows at her suggestive, then gave her one of his brightest smiles. "I've liked you for a while now, Luxa," he admitted. "I just want sure if you felt the same about me."
Luxa stepped into the bar as Moses followed. She was instantly glad at the warmer air that now surrounded her. She looked back at Moses. "I...I don't know...there are better women on board for you than me," she replied, not really knowing why she was resisting.
Hearing her reluctance, Moses' smile faded a bit. "Lu," he said softly. "It's been a long time since I was with someone. The last time ended very badly. I didn't think I'd feel this way again. I see you, and I instantly feel lighter on my feet. I hear your voice and I feel a warmth in my chest." He shook his head. "I don't want to be with anyone else." Then he paused, suddenly worried that he had made a mistake. "Unless..unless you don't feel the same way....?"
"No...I do. I just hadn't expected it," she said as she closed the distance to him, grasping his hand with hers. "You're a regular poet," she smiled at him. She had spent nearly all of her life fighting or training so it left little room for any significant partners. It had been the one reason she and Naxea had a close relationship was due to their shared hardships in early childhood.
Feeling her warm hand inside of his, Moses smiled again. I just speak from my heart, Lu." He then took a chance and leaned in, kissing her gently on her right cheek.
"Your aim sucks as usual," Gami replied before pulling him forward and kissing him passionately on the lips.
At first, the suddenness and power of Luxa's kiss surprised Moses, he quickly recovered and wrapped his powerful arms around Luxa and lifted her up off her feet, returning her kiss with equal passion.
*Ahem* A clearing of a throat interrupted the proceedings. "I apologize for interrupting Marines while they are on maneuvers but would the two of you like something to drink while you are still able?" The words spoken with a German accent. The owner a big man, solid but older than Moses and Gami. "I am Hans Mueller, owner and operator. Welcome to the Igloo."
Hearing the other voice quickly reminded Moses that he and Luxa weren't alone. Breaking the kiss, he lowered her back down to the ground and chuckled softly. "That sounds like a good idea," he said, looking at Hans. Then looking back at Luxa, he grinned softly. "What's your poison, Lu?"
"I'll have some Andorian Ale," Luxa stated as she moved towards a table.
Moses grinned. "Thy wish is my command." He moves over to the bar and placed their order with Hans. "An Andorian Ale for the lady and a mojito for myself please?'
"Certainly my friend. One Andorian Ale and one mojito coming right up." Hans replied and moments later the two drinks were prepared and handed to Moses. Your drinks as you requested. Enjoy."
Moses gave Hans a friendly grin. "Thank you, Sir." He then picked u0 the drinks and moved over to where Luxa was sitting. "For the beautiful lady," he said happily. He then sat in the chair on her left side and raised his drink in a toast. "To new adventures!"
Luxa raised her glass, clinking it softly with Moses' glass. "To new adventures."
