Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Medical
Timeline: Somewhere in current mission

N'vok sat up and, after an initial moment of disorientation, realized that he was in medical. Not main medical but extended care. What had happened?

The lights were on low, so some sort of energy conservation was in play. How long had he been out? He flexed his hands, he felt weak but otherwise . . , functional. His thoughts were clear and that was the most important thing.

He tried to speak and coughed instead. After a moment he tried again. "Hello? What is the situation and how can I be of aid?" he asked.

The footsteps of Sthilg filled the room as the gorn hurried over. " Lay ssstill." he said calmly as his artificial arm morphed into scanner mode as the doctor began to ran it over the Vulcan.

"Of course," N'vok said, settling into a schooled immobility. "May I ask how long I have been here? And what has happened to bring me here?"

Also alerted that Lt N'vok had regained consciousness, J'airesh tapped her comm to dismiss the bleep that had been automatically triggered by the biobed the patient was in, indicating a change in his condition. She too made her way hurriedly to his location but found the CMO already there, attending to the Vulcan.

J'air entered the area and nodded acknowledgement to Cmdr Sthilg. "Ah, I see you've got this Sir" she said, standing down and moving aside to allow the large but very agile Gorn to move around the bed freely and unincumbered by her appearance.

Knowing full well that it would be a flat violation of professional etiquette to discuss the patient and his progress, in front or him or within his hearing, J'air didn't ask her boss any questions, but rather, took in the expression on Sthilg's big, caring face. It was early to tell yet whether their vulcan patient had suffered any long-term ill-effects from his injuries so rather than intrude she simply offered to help, fully happy to be told there was no need.

If the latter happened then it would mean all was well and there was no need for her not to return to her other patients and duties.

She simply, calmly and quietly said "Is there anything I can do to help Commander?"

" Can you sssee if there'sss sssome food leftover in the galley that would be sssutible for our vulcan?" The gorn replied gesturing with his head as he did so.

Turning back to N'vok he gave him a warm smile. " Everything'sss looking good though be carful ssstanding up you've been in a coma for around a fortnight."

"Goodness," said N'vok, his mind frantically calculating. Even the most dire of injury should have only kept him out for a hundred hours or so, the fact that he was still here hundreds of hours later had unpleasant implications. "How badly damaged is the ship? Did we suffer severe casualties? What happened?"

He looked to J'air. "Anything is acceptable as long as I can digest it. Vegetarianism can be set aside in times of crisis."

N'vok then took a deep breath and slowly swung his legs off the bed, carefully bracing himself and tried to stand. He was a bit wobbly, but he did not fall. Unsurprisingly, his muscles felt as if they had not been used in some time. He took deep breaths and did not try to more than stand for the moment.

J'airesh respectfully nodded assent to the CMO and replied to the Vulcan that she was sure something could be found or replicated that was vegetarian. With that she withdrew in search of the promised meal. Deciding off her own knowledge that it would need to be something light, due to the lack of solid food in the patient's recent two weeks and not wishing to let him rush too quickly out of his previous life threatening condition, she thought about what she could best put up to offer him without causing his system to react to *too much, too soon.*

As she was leaving she saw the Vulcan attempting not only to rise but even to try to walk. It was instinctive in her to turn and almost leap to save him from the inevitable fall, but naturally, Cmdr Sthilg was closer and better able to react so she held back the natural instinct after only a small jerk towards the bio-bed.

N'vok swayed slightly, he was not as dizzy as he feared he would be but much more than he was comfortable with. "I will just stand here for a bit," he said.

Sthilg offered his hand to help N'vok stand. " Easy sssnall ssstepsss at firssst. We don't need your hurting yourself."

"Doctor, I have no wish to make more work for you," said N'vok, holding still as he tensed and felt his muscles. "Though I would appreciate answers to my earlier questions. I can only deduce that the situation must be extremely dire."

The gorn nooded. " There wasss an accident. Hundredsss of crew are dead. We manged to get the ship to a lifesssupporting world to do repairsss."

"Hundreds dead?" N'vok locked down his emotions. He took a deep breath. "It must have been difficult on you and your team, Doctor. Thank you for saving my life."

"When will I be fit to return to duty? I suspect my skills are needed."

"Some leadership would be nice," came a Sharp, harshly accented and feminine voice from the entrance to the medical suite, a Short, vulpine alien clad in black Armor, with blue trim stood leaning against the door way Her Large triangular ears pressed forwards as she carefully studied the pair. "I was coming here for a check up, but an introduction is more preferable to that," she added as she stepped forwards, her armored digitgrade feet clunking onto the deck with each careful step, the quiet audible whine of her armors Life support systems following after. "Warrant officer Gen'Terta Crystalcliff of the Arten Confederacy Diplomatic Envoy, at your service, Sir."

N'vok nodded slowly. "The honor is mine. Forgive me, Warrant Officer, I am not at my best. Might you have a report detailing the current status of the Science Department? There is much I must catch up on."

J'airesh returned with a vegetarian plant-based meal and an oat-milk coffee on a tray which she took over to N'Vok. "Sorry to interrupt." she began addressing the patient. "I hope this is to your liking, it's Terran. It has chickpeas, and a mildly curried sauce with babyleaf spinach, onion, cherry tomatoes and lemon juice. It comes with rice... I prefer the Basmati kind so I chose that for you. I hope you like it. " she explained. "Enjoy" she added as she put it down beside him, providing both chopsticks and cutlery for him to choose from to eat it with.

Turning to the newcomer who hadn't been here when she'd left to get food, J'air asked: "I'm sorry, I didn't get you anything.... would you like some?" she held out her hand whilst waiting for the answer, and added. "I'm J'airesh Mora-Heath, the new Asst to the CMO.

N'vok sat back on the bed. "Thank you, Mora-Heath, it should be just what I need." He slowly began eating, using the cutlery, not feeling up to chopsticks at the moment.

The Alien Turned her gaze from N'vock to the Lieutenant, a slightly amused expression on her muzzle. "I am Warrant officer Gen'Terta CrystalCliff," she said in that translator modulated voice, her accent ringing like Shattered ice across the words. "And no, Thank you, I Rarely share my meals." she said with a soft nod before glancing back to The chief science officer. "In truth sir, I'm as much in the dark as you are, I rarely leave the confines of the Subspace Research lab."

N'vok paused to take a drink. "I am certain your talents will be needed soon enough, Warrent-Officer. It seems that we have a challenging situation on our hands. Your specialty is subspace then?"

"Subspace and Genetic Engineering," Gen'Terta said with a slow shrug. "Though My primary focus is on Subspace field manipualtion and Lensing."

N'vok raised an eyebrow. "An interesting combination. I look forward to working with you."

" Very light work only and even then i'd prefer if you were still in bed." Sthilg said to the Vulcan seeing how hard it was for him to stand.

"If my quarters survived, I would be able to work from there while keeping my physical stresses limited, Doctor," said N'vok. "Would that be acceptable?"

" If your quatersss are sssafe to ussse. Reprairsss are ssstill going on." The lizard replied.

N'vok finished his meal and set the utensils down. "Well, I do hope so, I was just getting used to them. It would be disappointing to have to break in new quarters." He steadied himself, took a deep breath and slowly stood, with minimal weaving. "Much better."

Sthilg returned with a neck monitor. " I'd like you to wear thisss. Any hint of dizzynesss or unsssteadynesss then i want you back here." he said calmly.

N'vok accepted the monitor without complaint. "Of course, Doctor. And thank you and your team for all of your hard work."

"Warrant Officer, might I request you assistance in getting to my quarters?"

"I'd be," she paused before shrugging. "I'd be happy to assist you sir," she added. "any excuse to get out of a check up."

"Must kind," says N'vok. He moves with exaggerated care over to Gen'terta. 'Lead on, I cannot recall the way." N'vok gently places his hand on Gen'terta's shoulder. "Please."

"this way sir," she nodded as she started into the corridor.

J'air watched them go and turned to tidy up the biobed and it's accoutrements cleaning and disinfecting, running the internal program to do this for itself and letting it get on with that while she removed and recycled the remainder of the food she had brought the patient earlier and the plate and cutlery as well.

Finishing up and satisfied the facilities were sterile and ready for the next patient who might need them, she turned to the CMO and reported that this was the status of the bay adding as she turned with the intention of moving onto the next cubicle, "another satisfied customer, Sir" with a smile.
