A small collection of officers stood in the shuttle bay awaiting an arrival of crew and family members that had been planet side. The Elysium was ready to start its departure and head home, but first that meant gathering those left below. Second Officer Lieutenant Baeryn Whavi stood near the front of the group with her hands locked behind the small of her back. She was impatiently waiting for the shuttle to arrive with her Mate and infant daughter. It had been difficult to leave them and give the Elysium her attention but she knew it wasn’t just her family that was counting on her, it was everyone’s. Baeryn barely registered the words a fellow crewman had spoken to her before she could see the shuttle with her own eyes. From behind her she heard the announcement it would be docking soon. Her eyes brightened but her mouth stayed tight lipped as she waited the last few seconds until her family would be United.

A few moments layer, the shuttle landed softly in the shuttlebay. The pilot then opened the hatch, and people started to disembark. Among the first to step back on the Elysium, was David, carrying Samanthanna in a baby carrier in his left hand, a duffel on his back, and another large bag in his right hand.

When his eyes locked with Baeryn's, he smiled broadly, then seemed to whisper something down to their daughter.

Baeryn beamed with delight as she approached David and Ana. She smiled as she leaned up to great David with a long kiss. When she broke away from him she smiled even brighter as she locked eyes with her daughter. "Well hello my ocean eyed princess." She pressed her lips gently to Ana's forehead. "Mommy missed you terribly." She gently took the carrier from David and restrained herself from wanting to squeeze her. "How was her first shuttle ride?" She asked David.

David relished the kiss from Baeryn. His Baeryn. Though, she would laugh at him if he stated that out loud, at least while in polite company that is.

After he released his grip on the carrier, he grinned proudly as he replied. "She took it like a pro. Didn't even bat an eye about the whole transition." His grin turned a bit to a smirk as he added, "Of course, her Daddy was with her, so, she knew she was safe."

“Oh of course.” Baeryn replied with a snicker, she started to move towards the shuttle bay exit when a Bolian with a bad attitude cut in front of her causing Baeryn to stop suddenly. She did her best not to jostle the carrier too much but the careless incident left Baeryn's heart racing. She was beyond furious but her attention immediately went to Ana to ensure she was okay.

David reacted just as quickly, reaching out and grabbing the shoulder of the rude Bolian in a vise-like grip. "Excuse me, sir," he spoke with the tone of a protective father and husband. While I understand this is a stressful situation for us all, that does not mean we forget our manners." He tightened his grip some as he stressed, "Agreed?

The Bolian's face had quickly shot to fear as he took in David's tone and stature. Nodding quickly, he mumbled something of an apology and scurried off.

Baeryn put her hand on David's forearm, knowing that he wouldn't be pleased with the Bolian's sore attempt at an apology. "It's okay Love, it's fine. We're fine."

David was still feeling a level of defensive anger, but it quickly evaporated when he both felt Baeryn's gentle touch on his arm, and the softness of her voice. Turning back and looking down at the two individuals who were his entire universe, he deflated a bit more and gave his mate an apologetic look. "Sorry, Baer," his voice was quieter, as other members of the crew moved around them, each heading to their assigned quarters. "I heard you call out and just reacted."

"He's just lucky I wasn't armed with my phaser, " Baeryn gave David one of her smirky nose wrinkles then started towards the exit. "Let's get our little one home." As she proceeded, she was more careful and aware of those moving around her.

David chuckled softly at Baeryn's reply. He then fell into step with her, staying on her side that she was carrying their daughter, using his bulk as a shield for them both. "As our quarters are still out of commission, we were moved into one of the empty guest quarters. It's smaller than our home...only two main rooms, a living room and a bedroom with attached head. Ana will have to wait for the structural damage to be fully repaired, before she gets her own room."

"Have you gotten the plans for the new crib yet?" Baeryn was hiding her anxiety at Ana no longer being safely concealed in her womb but knew it was normal for new parents to feel as she did. Even if she was still considering a space safe bubble for her daughter.

David nodded as he spoke. "I got the design for the one the Commodore uses for her twins. It's a fully self-contained escape pod, equipped with micro tractor Beams that will hold her in place. Captain Richardson, her husband, is and old friend of mine. He had it replicated himself, said it was a gift."

Baeryns eyes widened, "Really? How incredibly generous of them!" She looked down at Ana as they continued to their quarters. Overcome with feeling beholden to the Commodore and Captain. The gesture made her a tad emotional, so much that she had to take a deep breath to keep it together. She smiled over at David, "We'll have to send them a thank you, or at least cook them a meal. I know how busy they both are." Baeryn suddenly remembered something she had forgotten to mention to David, "Oh! I almost forgot, Ana has a play date with little miss Sle'anna later this week. Naxea and I want to bring the two together as often as we can."

David nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a good idea, my love. I'm sure they'd love that." He held the turbolift doors open for Baeryn and Ana before entering himself. After giving their destination to the computer, he looked over at Baeryn and smiled. "That's a great idea as well. I'd like the two of them growing up as friends." He leaned over and kissed the top of Baeryn's head.

While the turbolift moved, Baeryn smiled down at the wide-eyed infant. Ana's blue eyes stared back at her mother then around the small room as she felt the movement. A yawn breached the infant's mouth as her eyelids slowly started to descend. "How much time do you have before you need to report in?"

David smiled softly as he replied. "The Colonel is giving everyone till first formation, tomorrow morning at 0400 hours to settle in."

"Perfect, you can help me rearrange a few things." Baeryn smirked at David knowing she was going to put him to work making their new quarters more like a home. She then went into great detail how she wanted to set up Ana's room, as well as the living space and their own bed. The new quarters were considerable smaller but they could make do. It was of course much more homey then the tent they had shared down below.

David grinned back at Baeryn. He felt a thrill rush through him, seeing that flirty smirk of hers. "I knew you just wanted me for my muscles!" He chuckled softly, then leaned down slightly to kiss her lips gently. "Thy will be done, my lady," he whispered softly as he winked at her.

After returning his kiss Baeryn pinched David's biceps feigning mock approval, "Yeah well I suppose they're good for something." She giggled as she started forward again towards their quarters. Teasing David had a way of sending butterflies into flight inside her stomach.

Looking down at Baeryn like a hungry wolf would look at a helpless lamb, David grinned. Keep it up and I'll remind you of just how well my muscles work." He reached over and playfully smacked her rear end. "Now move, or I'll put you over my knee!"

The threat caused Baeryn to laugh out loud, she tightened her hold on Ana's carrier and continued towards her new home with the two halves of her heart.
