[ON:]

Orin was sitting his office onboard the USS Revere when he got an urgent communication from the Bridge. It was his mother calling him at such an odd hour for San Francisco on Earth.

The Comms Officer routed the call to Orin's office after letting him know that his mother was calling. It took a few moments for the symbol of the Federation to change out and show Orin's mother, who had a slightly destressed look upon her face. She spoke first before Andrinn could even say hello.

"Have you seen what happened? With anything?" Emory said, with a bit of urgency within her voice. The Revere was on a long range mission out past the Romulan Neutral Zone that communication, especially in the form of current and up-to-date news, was something a bit harder to come by.

Andrinn shook his head in the negative and replied, "No, we've been on a long rang survey mission for the last few months and communication has been a bit spotty the last few weeks. It's actually a surprise to even have anything coming from you, mom. What's going on?"

Emory took a few moments to take a few deep breaths in and for her to collect all of her thoughts before replying back to Andrinn. Once she did begin to speak, Andrinn finally understood the gravity of the situation. Emory replied, "Well, we've just had an incident involving James T. Kirk and the Federation Starship Enterprise involving some Klingons, a stolen Bird of Prey, and some time travel. Apparently, Kirk and company stole the Enterprise to try and save Captain Spock from what was the Genesis Planet before it broke up into bits. However, before it blew up, Kirk lured the Klingon crew over to the Enterprise after setting the self-destruct on and beaming down to the planet. The Enterprise blew up before the Klingons could beam back over to their ship. Not only that, but Kirk and his motely crew managed to get onto the Bird of Prey and disposed of any remaining crew before setting course to the planet Vulcan for a bit of an exile."

After hearing all of that, Andrinn's jaw was visibly on the floor of the deck plate. He wasn't sure what to make of that whole situation. But, Andrinn was curious as to what happened next, especially with the whale probe and the time travel part. Looking at his mother on the screen, Andrinn asked her, "Wait a minute. How does that lead to time travel and a whale probe? That's quite a stretch from Klingons to whale probes and time travel."

Emory put her hands up to stop Andrinn from saying or asking anything further until she could continue explaining. She replied, "Well, as it goes, we had a bit of an incident on Earth while I was down here. Apparently, an alien probe that was carrying the lifeforms of some ancient whales of Earth came visiting with destructive effects. Kirk and his crew were on the way home when the President of the Federation sent out a distress call to anyone that could hear, including Kirk, that they should stay away from Earth because of the probe. Apparently, that's when Mister Spock found out that the audio coming from the probe were coming back from humback whales. So, Kirk slingshot the stolen bird of prey around the sun to go back to 1986. They picked up a couple whales named George and Gracie, brought them back with Dr. Jillian Taylor, their handler, and came crashing into San Francisco Bay. It was a whole fiasco and that's where Kirk and his crew came back to be put on trial for their incident with the Federation and the Klingons both."

Yet again, Andrinn's jaw was hitting the floorboards and his hand did the slapstick moment of hitting his face. Andrinn wasn't sure what to think about the whole situation, but knew that it probably just made the peace talks with the Klingons go a bit under. Thinking about that, he looked back at his mother and asked, "So, what did this do with the whole Klingon Peace Talks? Hopefully, it didn't derail it."

Emory shrugged her shoulders and thought about everything that happened since the Enterprise was stolen. Not only was the Enterprise lost along with a good chunk of the Klingon crew, one of their vessels having been stolen, and several Klingon Ambassadors looking for revenge against the now Captain Kirk, Emory was still hopeful for the peace talks between the two superpowers within the galaxy.

Looking at her son, Emory just smiled and said, "How do you think that the Klingons reacted? They were PISSED! They wanted to pretty much tie Captain Kirk and stone him for what he did. But, thankfully, I was there with the Diplomatic Teams and our various teams helped to calm them down. I told them that revenge is a dish best served cold, but they were too hot to enjoy it. I told them that we shouldn't unravel what we've accomplished already because once we come together, they might be able to do more with Captain Kirk than they would otherwise. They seemed to take it for the moment, thankfully."

Andrinn just leaned back in his chair as he listened to the tales that his mother spun. There was quite a bit that was happening, but Andrinn knew that his mother and her diplomatic team on Earth knew how to handle most any situation that was thrown at them. This time was definitely no different. However, Andrinn was a bit worried that he hadn't heard anything about the whale probe until now. So, he looked at his mother and said, "I'm just a bit upset that we didn't hear anything about this whole whale probe situation until now that. You'll have to send me the reports on it from command."

Emory smiled as she replied, "Well, you can read them for yourself when you get back to Earth. With the whole debacle with the Klingons, we're stretched pretty thinly and could use some helping hands with the other species that we serve. I'm going to need you back here on Earth for a few weeks with the species applying for Federation membership and I know that you're pretty passionate about that, as am I. That's why I want one of the best people on the job. We've already sent over the request from command to your CO and XO, who should be calling you soon to let you know when they can get the transport off the ship. But, with that, I've got to go. Meeting with some various diplomats, including a Romulan ambassador. I love you my son and I'll see you soon. Emory out."

Andrinn was able to get in a goodbye before the comm link was closed out. He just sat back in his chair, starring at the symbol of the Federation and couldn't believe everything that happened in just a few short months. He was excited to get back to Earth for a few weeks and get some good, fresh meals from his family in him.

All he had to do now was to wait.
