The USS Elysium was traveling at warp 4, its destination was Sol System in the Milky way. The past few weeks had been the same. Travel for 8 hours at warp 4, then the next 4 at impulse then back to warp 4 for another 8 hours then the ship would pause for 5 hours to take scans and if they came to one of the rare M Class worlds, they gathered what resources they could.

The crew moral was better than it had been when they had first arrived in this strange new galaxy. But it still had a long way to go before it would read the levels that they had before their accident. It was to be expected, after all they were millions of light years away from their homes.

At 03h00 on the 3rd of January 2398, the Elysium was due to drop out of Warp and as the ship glided out of warp for its 4 hours at impulse in a deep storage section of the Elysium’s science department, the device an away team had brought back, slowly began to power up. It was slow, so slow and such low power that it was not registering on any instruments. It sent out waves, soft gentle looking waves, through the walls of its containment container and into the walls of the ship. Slowly drifting out.

The Ships external sensors began their passive scans as the Elysium made its way through space on its relentless journey home.
