Mission:
MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Holodeck 2
Timeline: MD3; 1500 Hours
1117 words - 2.2 OF Standard Post Measure
Anna was in the holodeck, under the impression the time was reserved for her alone. She was not having an especially exciting adventure. Not reliving a battle or swordfighting Musketeers. There was enough danger in the ship's normal missions. Instead, she was in a swimsuit, sprawling comfortable on a large towel out on a beach. It just happened to be a program set on Australia's Sunshine Coast and the loose assortment of minor characters in the background were generated accordingly. Still, it would not have been so different on any beach anywhere. Her eyes were closed.
After working his shift, T'Kek needed a break as he stepped onto the holodeck to...sand? He looked around, seeing that he was standing on a beach, standing out among other people who were dressed in swim suits opposed to his casual wear of a white v neck shirt and tan pants with athletic shoes. He had thought of running a Risa Program but this beach program was nice. Had to be an Earth beach by the looks of it. But who did the program belong to?
"I didn't..." Anna starts when she hears the door open. Then she freezes. "T'Kek?"
T'Kek looked over to the where he now spotted Anna propping herself up on her elbows, looking at him. The swimsuit she was wearing hugged her body well "Anna, hi," he replied as he walked over. "I apologize. The computer didn't show the holodeck being used. I'll leave you to your program."
"It's ok," she said. "But I reserved the time. Did you reserve it too?" She stood up.
"I did, however it seems you had a similar interest as I had, which is relaxing, What is this program?"
"A beach," Anna said, "in Australia, on Earth."
"Ah, I unfortunately never got to visit Australia while attending Starfleet Medical. This beach at least looks nice. I should leave you to your program as you were here first," he said as he began to turn and leave.
"You're welcome to join me," Anna offered.
"Thank you," he said with a nod. "I would like that, though Id best change into something more suited for the beach. "Computer, create a private changing station with black standard swim trunks.". A small white enclosed wooden building appeared and T'Kek moved to enter the building.
Anna lay back down for the moment, smiling a relaxed smile. "I hope the holodeck doesn't lose power."
T'Kek paused for a moment, looking at the changing booth and the swim trunks. "I somehow think you'd enjoy that," he replied with a grin before entering the small changing booth.
Anna was about to respond when T'Kek grinned at her and her jaw sort of dropped. She knew she shouldn't generalize, but it was shocking to see that from a Vulcan. Even a half-Vulcan. She would have to get used to that.
A minute later, T'Kek exited the booth in the swim trunks as he approached Anna. "Much better. Care for a swim?"
"I don't go swimming to actually go swimming," Anna joked, even as she stood.
"Oh, that has to be boring," he teased as he walked backwards, keeping his eyes on her.
"Oh, fine," she said, pushing herself up and walking towards the water. "If you insist."
"I do indeed insist. Lest I swim all alone, " he teased, back stepping into the water. As he did so, a wave struck the back of his leg, causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards into the water.
Anna ran towards him as he fell, reaching down to grab him as the surf crashed against her own legs. "Good thing the safety protocols are on," she told him. "Are you ok?"
T'Kek could only laugh as he grabbed her hand. "I'm fine. I just lost my balance," he replied, getting to his feet. "But thank you."
"Can I ask you a totally rude question?" she asked.
"Well," T'Kek began and paused for a moment. He had an idea what the question may be. "Go ahead,"
"You aren't really like any other Vulcans I've known," she said, although she was aware it wasn't technically a question.
He smiled at the comment. "Good. I am half Vulcan. With my mother in Starfleet, I was raised in Starfleet, and not on Vulcan. So I took to expressing my emotions instead of suppressing them like normal vulcans which my father didn't approve of but managed tolerating it. I still do Vulcan meditations to help me focus, as my emotions are stronger, like many Vulcans."
"And you like the beach?" she asked.
T'Kek shrugged. "Sure, why not? Warm weather, ocean air and beautiful women," he stated wing a slight shrug.
"I was raised on Earth," she said. "More in the desert than the beach, though. In the 23rd century, they artificially made a lot of it really green but people are more into protecting the indigenous ecosystem now." She shrugged. "Still, with shuttles and transporters, the beach is never far away."
"Very true," he stated. "What about family? Significant others?" he asked as he began to wade further into the water, keeping his attention on her.
"No significant other at present," she said. "I don't know what my family thinks happened to me."
"Same. My mother is a Starfleet Captain and she went missing along with her crew almost a year ago but they were located. We will return. You just have to remain positive. Besides, you're serving with the best looking half Vulcan in Starfleet," he boasted with a chuckle in an attempt to lift Anna's spirits.
Anna laughed. She looked at him and arched a brow, feigning puzzlement. "Oh? Who might that be?"
"Well..." T'Kek began, placing his hands on his hips, grinning at her reaction. "I know he happens to be very close, and is looking at a very beautiful woman before him. He moved closer to her.
Anna laughed. She pushed herself to her feet. She looked down, blushing a little.
T'Kek watchedbherbfor a moment. "I apologize. I didn't intend to cause you embassment. I should go...though, I wouldn't mind seeing you again sometime."
"No, no, it's fine," Anna said. She put her arms up. "You just caught me a little offguard. I'd like to be friends. I just...I don't know. There's just someone, I don't know, it might be nothing..."
"Ah, I see. I should have known. They're a lucky person. And sure, being friends sound good," he stated, grinning. "I really should get going, however. I'll leave you to your program."
Anna nodded weakly. "It's ok. I'll talk to you later."
"Have fun," he called with a grin and a wave as he headed for the exit.
