Ket , as a Vulcan, struggled to process some of the experiences of his Starfleet Marine Pilot career. He considered logical to continue to serve being a fair pilot with skills to share with his peers. But he knew that the mandatory counselling helped process some of his past mental trauma. So it was after all logical to head to the chief councillors office for his mandatory psychological evaluation. As the doors slid open Ket was greeted by a comfortable and warming environment.

“You must be Ket?” Alicia offered a warm smile as she greeted the new arrival to her office. “Please come on in, and make yourself comfortable.” She motioned to the sofa and chairs.

"Thank you Ma'am" responded Ket without feeling but still nodding politely as he took a seat in one of the comfy chairs. He settled himself. Looking about the office as he did so .

Alicia took her seat offering a warm smile. “So how are you settling in?”

Ket had joined the crew of the USS Elysium just prior to their jaunt into another, so given the circumstances his settling in period had been what the humans would call a trial by fire. "It has been satisfactory Commander."

Alicia nodded. “That’s good to hear, your arrival was timed just at the wrong time really. Those of us who’ve been here a while are used to being thrown into the proverbial lions den, not that us ending up here was intentional.” She smiled. “Have you any particular questions you’d like answered? Or anything you’d like to ask me?”

Ket was a little thrown off by the question. Though as a Vulcan and a being of no emotion, mostly, the question had caught him off guard. He was not use to be asked if he had any questions, most counsellor's in Ket experience just asked how he was managing in his day to day routine. The question was refreshing. Ket realised their had been a gap in the amount of time he had taken to respond, so quickly said without thinking "How do you manage a crew of so many people?"

Alicia notes the pause but simply smiled. “Luckily it’s not just me, there are several Counsellor’s onboard. If at any point you can’t get to see me, or if you prefer to talk to another Vulcan, there’s my husband Commander Savar.”

Ket politely shook his head "I am sure you will be efficient Lieutenant Commander" said Ket without feeling in his tone of voice "and i am sure given the nature of my historical mental health concerns that I will come into contact with others in your department."

Alicia nodded. “Very true, actually Savar would be the ideal member of my staff for you to speak with on a longer term basis. Being Vulcan he can help you find your way back to your Vulcan roots so-to-speak.”

"I am sure it would produce its own results Lieutenant Commander" Responded the Vulcan respectfully. I do not get much in the way of contact with other Vulcans down in the drop hangers. We tend to not make fighter pilots"

Alicia nodded. “Oh? May I ask why?”

"Careering around the galaxy, sitting on top of a micro warp core, super charged engines state of the art weapons systems with only a few inches of plexi glass cockpit between you and the black void of space, is not logical."

Alicia nodded. “Now that you’ve said it I guess I see your point.” She smiled warmly. “I’ve never really stopped to think about it before.”

The Vulcan raised one eyebrow. "Why would you think about it? You are the USS Elysium chief Counsellor, and I have been told a very capable one at that, but not many give consideration to certain more...." Kett paused a moment as he looked for the right word "give consideration to more specialist departments of starfleet."

Alicia nodded. “That’s true, but as Counsellor for all onboard I try to be aware of what each department entails. Obviously there are a lot of sub divisions amongst the departments, but just to have an idea is a start. Anyway to get back on track, do Vulcans have to work in careers that are more... logical?”

The Vulcan politely shook his head. "No ma'am, Ones own destiny is their own logical path for them to choose wherever it may take them."

“That sounds logical to me” Alicia smiled and nodded. “Do you see your destiny being anywhere else than where you are now?”

The Vulcan made a point of looking about the room. "I do not forsee any change in our current circumstances. But Desitny has a way of throwing things in our path, and i am sure once we return to Federation space many things will changes."

The Vulcan took a breath and stroked his beard thoughtfully. "You have however given me much to reflect and consider on. I look forward to future sessions together and any other collaborations you may suggest with other counsellors on board the USS Elysium."
