Zac smiled to himself as he sat on the sofa in the quarters he shared with Emily and her daughter Leana. He would adopt Leana as well once he and Emily were married. He loved Emily, completely and totally and Leana as well. The little girl had made remarkable progress in coming out of her shell and talking. She still wasn't chatty, but she did talk more. She just might be a person who used as few words as possible. He mused silently to himself. Besides and more importantly her actions showed she adored Emily and everyone knew actions spoke louder than words.

Emily was sitting helping Leana with some school work that was due the following morning. Though Leana was doing well in her schooling, the homework was proving awkward for Leana. “You carry on now, you’re doing well there. I’m sure your teacher will be quite pleased with that.” She gave Zac a warm smile.

" How are my two favorite ladies? Zac asked with a grin. He saw Leana with some schoolbooks. "Oh, homework. What are you working on Leana?" Then he quickly added. "Am I interrupting?" Zac asked. I can go into the other room so you two can work in peace." He offered.

“Actually you may just be the perfect man for this” Emily smiled. “Lea is finding her homework difficult, here take my seat and have a look.”

Zac looked at Emily in surprise as she got up offering her seat to him to help Leana. "You sure about this Emily?" As he sat down and smiled at Leana. "Just what am I looking at?" He asked Emily.

“Quantum physics” Emily grinned. “It’s only a taster for the younger ones right now, but Lea’s finding it hard to understand the concepts. In all honesty I think it’s way too early to even be looking at it.”

Zac looked at Emily and then at Leana as he slowly closed the book. "Your right Em, great idea." He then looked at Lea and said "Lesson's over, go play."

Emily couldn’t help but grin. “It never made sense to me to introduce hard subjects so early,I know it’s only basic knowledge but...” She shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll have a word with the teacher next lesson, I’m sure she’ll understand.”

Zac nodded as Lea scampered off to play. "I understand the teachers want the kids to be familiar with a subject before they get fully into it. But as you said Emily, this is too much too soon, and the teacher ought to understand." He smiled and looked to her. "One problem solved, now what can I do for you Emily my sweet?"

“For me?” Emily smiled, “now that’s a loaded question” she grinned playfully. “Ask me that question tonight, in the meantime I’d just be happy to cuddle up on the sofa."

Zac smiled and chuckled at Emily's reply. "Is that a fact Emily? Well, I guess I will just have to wait until tonight and ask again. Though, I am curious to hear your answer." He finished by winking at her and cuddling her close to him.

Emily grinned. “Then I’ll make sure it’s worth it. I was thinking how’s about we invite George and Leilani for dinner one night? It would give Leana some other children to be with for a few hours, plus I haven’t had chance to spend much time with George of late.”

Zac chuckled, "I am sure you will Emily, no doubt in my mind on that score." He smiled broadly at her idea. "I think that is a wonderful idea. I know Leana would like to play with some other children, Give Leilani a call and set up a night and we'll go from there. Any idea what we should serve for dinner?"

“I was thinking some Betazoid dishes? We’re far from home, and I’m trying to learn more about what it is to be Betazoid. George and I were raised away from Betazed so we’ve never really had the chance to truly learn what it is to be Betazoid. I hope to get to Betazed once we return to our universe.”

Zac nodded, "I think that is a splendid idea, Emily. Not only in serving Betazoid dishes put also embracing your heritage. To learn all about it and its history." he smiled, "A trip to Betazed I think would serve as the icing on the cake to use a human term. It would complete the cycle you have started here.

Emily smiled and nodded. “I need to talk to George about a fact finding trip to Betazed when we eventually get back, to find out more about our family ties.”

"That sounds good sweetie. I think it would be good for you and George both to get answers about your family. I'm all for it. Anything I can do to help you prepare?" Zac asked his arm still around Emily.

"I guess we could do some study on Betazed, visit the holodeck to get a feel for my homeworld?" Emily smiled with a twinkle in her eye.

"Emily, that is a fantastic idea!" Zac replied with obvious enthusiasm. "In fact, its brilliant.! Way to go Emily. When do you want to visit the holodeck? I mean do you want to go now?"

"How's about tomorrow?" Emily offered a smile. "Right now I just want to relax and enjoy myself here with you and Leana."

Zac brought Emilly closer, so they were snuggling on the couch. "Tomorrow is a great Emily. As for relaxing with you and Leana, i could not agree more."

"You're always asking me what I want Zac" Emily gave him a curious look. "What do you want in the future? what do you see our lives being like?"

Zac turned to face Emily as he answered her, "I see a man and his wife who are very much love and the strength that loves provides them. I see their daughter who knows she is safe and happy because she is so loved. I see a family united in love, that knows love will keep them strong." He smiled at Emily, "My future is with you and Leana and wherever it takes us, Emily my love."

“A man and his wife, I like the sound of that” Emily smiled warmly. “I’m very much looking forward to the day that we get married Zac, I think Leana would make a beautiful flower girl in a flowing dress.” She gave Lea a warm smile.

"I can't wait for the day that we are husband and wife Emily." Zac replied with a broad smile. "And I think Leana will be the prettiest flower girl ever!" He said smiling at the girl.

“It will be magical I’m sure” Emily smiled warmly.

"Not only magical Emily but the culmination of a dream a most wonderous dream." Zac replied hugging Emily.
