Holodeck 1
The ship was docked at DS9 and Gary had gone to the holodeck. The dinner with the Commodore was over and he just needed to get away. His and Lia's relationship was still strained, professional in their dealings with each other. Lots of work needed to be done to repair and rebuild what they had.
He stood on the stage of the night club getting ready to sing, it helped to relieve the tension and the stress.
He thought of Catlin. He could always talk to her. She never got defensive. She listened and then gave her opinion and he could always count on it being honest even if she didn't agree with him and she always seemed to know what was on his mind. He remembered a song she loved. It was old back when they were married now it was positively ancient now but it summed up how he felt and still felt about Catlin. They had so many dreams, the world had been their oyster, dreams that would never be fulfilled now. He thought he and Lia could have something like that, now he wasn't sure. They seemed to be getting on each other's nerves more and more, biting and snapping at each other.
He looked out at the audience as the music began, "This is for all of you remembering someone you can't be with anymore and wishing for one more moment to be together." He began to sing. It's been a long, long time."
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long, long time.
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when.
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you.
Or just how empty they all seemed without you.
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long, long time.
Ah, kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long time.
Haven't felt like this my dear
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time.
As he sang, he fervently wished he had one day, one more hour with Catlin just to sit and hold hands, talk. Just to be in her company. To see her smile and hear her laugh. but alas that would not happen but he could still dream and as he sang he remembered. It was indeed a long, long, time.
