Zuriñe now had an idea of what the humans term 'dog tired' meant. She had spent several hours in the medical bay performing surgery and mending bodies. She then managed to get four hours worth of sleep before she and Petty Officer McGavers had returned to the badly damaged Biosafety Level 4 storage and lab. She was seated at her desk working on her computer and Petty Officer McGavers was in the lab cleaning up the mess.
She and her assistant had already did a thorough inspection of the 'vault' and lab. The breach was in a wall section in the lab, to which she had a level 10 forcefield sealing it and McGavers and herself had set up a portable forcefield unit next to that one. She then sealed the 'vault' with a computer command that only she or Commander Sthilg could enter. There would be no chance of an override by any of the command personnel; she ensured it with a Medical Alpha Omega directive code. Now at her computer she was updating the accesses to Biosafety Level 4 storage and lab. No longer would just any command personnel be allowed to override safety protocols. It could only be overridden by herself or Commander Sthilg, again she used a Medical Alpha Omega directive, if the captain, xo , or Lieutenant Colonel Azhul Naxea, or for that matter any other command officers not like it, they could take their complaint through the proper medical authority. She was now introducing a command protocol that under no circumstance could any marine officer or enlisted personnel be allowed in the Biosafety Level 4 storage and lab, without either herself or Commander Sthilg accompanying them. Biosafety Level 4 storage and lab. Zuriñe admitted this last protocol was done out of spite, she was still angry at Colonel Azhul and for the time being thought it best she and her space apes stayed out of her lab. She placed the last protocol under a Medical Delta directive, allowing only Starfleet command officers to override it. ~No Marines allowed ~ she thought with a smile. She stretched and sighed, now back to the other task at hand, autopsy of their 'guest' that had been killed in the lab.
She stood up and walked over to her locker, opened it up and removed her uniform so that all she had on was her T-shirt, underwear and socks. She then made her way over to the first of three airlocks, since she had not left the lab the computer did not interrogate her. She punched in her code and the Iris opened. She stepped inside. Once inside she grabbed her Level A encapsulated Biohazard suit and began putting it on she had a thought, the Elysium did not have a Virologist; she knew the perfect one to bring on board. She would have to take it up with command after their current mission was over.
After getting through all the airlocks; Zuriñe walked over to Petty Officer McGavers.
"Ready to open this corpse up?" she inquired.
"Yes Ma'am." McGavers replied.
"Good. Computer initial assessment of corpse on Autopsy table, any foreign microbes or hazards to be made aware of?" inquired Zuriñe.
A small blue beam scanned across the corpse on the autopsy table. After a few moments the computer replied <>Noted unclassified neural poison, noted unclassified bacterial growth along the cybernetic installed components, noted unclassified enzymes detected in all anatomical ducts, noted unclassified prion in implanted cerebral computer, noted unclassified virus along lobotomy line. Assessment is the biological species is immune to all. Further assessment biological specimen has potential to infect known species to the Federation. All precautions should be taken when dealing with this specimen.<>
Petty Officer McGavers whistled at the computers report. "This thing sounds lethal."
Zuriñe chuckled, "Understatement of the year. Sounds like this creature was created for nothing but mayhem, carnage and destruction. The computer states this specimen has a lobotomy line so let's crack its skull open and take a look. I want to collect specimens of everything. Computer ensure recording devices and scans are functioning and recording."
<>All recording devices are active and recording.<> replied the computer.
Zuriñe looked at McGavers "Okay slow and steady, you've done this with me several times and know the process."
McGavers replied "Yes Ma'am, slow and steady. We begin with the brain and work our way down."
With that Zuriñe and her technician began the slow and deliberate removal of cybernetics and collection of all unidentified foreign specimens. Everything was meticulously documented. Zuriñe wanted this to be thorough as she was sure she would have to present her findings to the command staff. She was also extremely worried about the unidentified specimens the computer detected. She foresaw her and McGavers would not be getting any rest for the foreseeable future.
