Gérard had felt heart sick for the last twenty-eight hours. He had heard that Miran had been injured, but, due to the clean-up and repair schedules, he had not yet been able to go see her.
Finally, when all of the remains, of both the Elysium personnel and the enemy, had been removed, the cadets were given an eight hour pass to use for resting. Gérard quickly showered and dressed in fresh clothes. He found out that Miran had been released from sickbay, but ordered to continue resting in her quarters.
Making his way to a replimat, he purchased a vase filled with her favorite blooms, a bottle of sparkling Betazoid nectar, and a delicious dinner for two. He carried it all, the food and wine were in a basket in his left hand, the vase of flowers in his right, and made his way to her cabin.
Once he reached it, he put the basket down long enough to smooth any wrinkles from his clothes, then pressed the door chime. He then picked up the basket and waited for her permission to enter.
The door opened and Raye exited. "She is on the couch," She hissed and headed off into the hallways.
Gérard jerked back slightly at Raye's apparent anger. Before he could ask, she was gone. Taking a cautious breath, he stepped into the living quarters and looked over at Miran, the smile filling his features as love filled his eyes. "Imzadi," he said softly as he moved to her side, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her deeply, the feelings that he had been feeling, that he nearly lost her, were bubbling to the surface of his being, as he transmitted his he was feeling about her to her during their embrace.
Miran gave him a bright smile. "Hi love" she said using the Human word. "How are you?"
"Better now that I see you are well!" He smiled brightly, then it faltered a bit as he looked back towards the now-closed door, leading out of the small quarters. "Is...everything alright with Raye? I don't remember the last time I saw her so angry."
"Her brother is being picked on at school. Her sister as well. The twins... they are not good with confrontation. And the... people picking on them.. they will learn what redhair does." MIran said. "That and I keep getting up when I should be resting."
The last part caused Gérard to give Miran a playful chastising look. "Well now, young lady, we can't be having that now, should you continue to misbehave, I will be forced to spank you."
She laughed "Hmm an interesting thought." She teased.
This caused Gérard to let out a loud, happy belly laugh.
Miran held out a hand. "Have a seat." She said with a smile. "I am under orders of light duties for two weeks."
Taking her offered hand, Gérard first kissed it, then joined her on the couch, putting his left arm around her, and pulling her to him gently. "I'm glad you're okay," he said softly, the emotions he felt when he had heard she had been injured bubbling back up in his mind. "I was so scared when I had first heard you were hurt."
"I am ok. Though my ears are wringing from my family telling me how rekless I was." She gave a shrug.
Still holding her close, Gérard chuckled softly. "Of that, I have zero doubt. I can only imagine how the Commodore reacted to the news." He gently kissed the side of Miran's head, then transmitted a few images and thoughts of love to her.
"She was quiet at first which is the worst." Miran leaned into him comfortably. "Then once she knew I was ok, she went off. I got chapter and verse on how mother would feel if I died and how somehow it would be Phoenix's fault and blah blah blah."
Gérard nodded as he listened to Miran speak. "I'm sure your sister would feel it was, Imzadi." His voice was soft as he spoke. "Not only as your commanding officer, but as your big sister."
Miran nodded. "Maybe we won't ever get home so it won't ever be an issue."
This made Gérard give Miran a thoughtful look. "You'd rather your mother live the rest of her life not knowing what happened to you both?" He paused, then added, "There are already going to be numerous familes that will be destroyed by the loss of their loved ones."
"Look I love my mother, but she is a product of our home world. She is getting better but she still see's my brother as more." Miran shrugged. "Pene says that she got better once they were on Earth and that is true but there was still years where she didn't know what we were doing or even where we were and I dont think she cared that I ran away."
Hearing another chapter of her life before they met, filled with pain, saddened Gérard. He had only known love and support from his entire family. He had no basis of experience to fully understand where Miran was coming from.
Hugging her a bit tighter, he transmitted several images and feelings of love and protection. "As long as we are together, I will always show you that you are cared for and cherished!" He kissed her lips gently, but full of passion. He made it very clear just how much she meant to him.
She snuggled against him and closed her eyes. "I know" Miran whispered back as she relaxed in his arms. She felt safe.
They sat there for a while, just holding each other, comfortable in the silence that surrounded them. They didn't need to say anything to each other, as it seemed that they knew each other so perfectly already.
Finally, Gérard did ask, "What would you like to do tonight, Imzadi?"
"hmm not cleared for anything too strenuous, so... movie and chill?" Miran suggested with a smile.
Gérard nodded and grinned. "What can I make for you to eat?" He enjoyed cooking for Miran more than he did cooking for anyone else.
"Hmm nachos?" she suggested with a smile.
Smiling again, Gérard replied. "Thy wish is my command," he winked at her, then kissed her again, before carefully extricating himself from her embrace. He then moved to the replicator and requested the ingredients needed for the dish, as opposed to just requesting the complete meal.
Less than thirty minutes later, the two of them were sitting together again, eating the nachos and laughing as they watched one of the many comedy movies that were stored in the ship's memory.
