The door to sickbay shut behind S'hib as he came to a stop, Besides looking very unimpressed with his current afternoon his nose had continued to bleed prefusely, leaving the fur all down his chest stained red. "Hey doc, Nice to finally meet you." He said with a rather exasperated sigh.
The ships gorn MD was at the patient's side within moments. " What happened and how long has thisss been happening?" He asked with a concerned yet professional manner.
"Well you see I was having a lovely afternoon running around the ship, but then I decided it would be a really good idea to have a fight with a marine instead." S'hib said as he blinked slowly, finding himself slightly moving away from the Gorn out of instinct. "Was it always so bright in here." he added, squinting as a drop of blood hit the floor.
" I sssee." the gorn said already setting his arm-mounted scanner to start running a diagnostic as he helped the wounded crewman into one of the rooms. " Computer lower the brightnesss. " he said as he indicated for him to take a seat. " Well, looksss like you may have damaged your retina ssslightly. Wait a minute while I fetch Beerty. " the gorn said as he disappeared out of the room before returning with a small tank under his arm.
"I think you're mistaking my retina for my pride." S'hib whined as sat down and lifted his head back, pointing his bloodied muzzle into the air.
"No, you damaged your retina and have a minor bleed in your nossse." the gorn said as he pulled a few tools from there place before laying them out on the desk. " Now I'm going to heal the damaged retina first then fix your nossse." He said as he picked up one of the small tools. "Don't worry you won't feel a thing."
"Honestly It looks worse than it is." S'hib snorted, his ears flicking nervously as he clutched the side of the biobed with his hoofed digits. "You know I've never met a gorn before." He added with a nervous laugh
" Ensssign you could lossse your eye if I don't fix it. I know my ssspeciesss hasss a rather notoriousss reputation, but right now all I want to do isss to get you patched up." The gorn responded gently having dealt with species that had come from prey animals before.
Closing his eyes and holding his breath for a few seconds S'hib centered his thoughts "I'm sorry." He said with a deep exhale. "This afternoon has been...interesting." He added as he continued to control his breathing and calm his nerves despite still clutching the side of the bed fiercely.
" Sssounds like a normal day on this vessssel. " The gorn said as he got to work with the skills only capable from one skilled in hundreds of years of surgery. " Okay, that ssshould do it." Now I want you to open your left eye ssslowly and look at the tank on the desk. " He said as he switched off the room's lights and dropped some food into the tank. The luminescent shrip inside began the reaction as it ate the food filling the room with a gentle yet easy to see glow. He was a natural aid for eye problems.
Blinking his eye slowly open S'hib fixed his gaze on the glowing tank, the blue light casting a strange glow over the Gorn's scales. "Could I have something to drink?" He asked, laying his head back down on the biobed, trying to ignore the fact he was in a dark room with a giant apex predator.
"Of courssse. Anything in particular? I recently ground sssome of my own coffee beansss if you want sssome fresh coffee." the gorn said as he pulled a flask from his belt.
"Only if you don't mind." S'hib said sheepishly, every hiss the Gorn made reverberating through his very core.
The gorn nodded and poured another cup before he handed it to the security officer. " How'sss the eye feeling?" he asked.
"I didn't really notice any pain before but the blurriness has gone." S'hib said as he tentatively took the cup from the Gorn's claws, gently lifting it to his lips sniffing it with flared nostrils.
"I guess I was too busy worrying about the blood to notice anything else." He added before sipping at the cup.
" That'sss good. I apologissse if my appearance is making you uncomfortable ensign. " The doctor said as he slid the top of the tank open before dropping in a few more drops of food. " Got to keep my ssstaff well feed." He jokingly said before darkening the glass of the tank. " Computer return to half normal illumination." He said calmly as he gathered the tools to fix the ensigns nose.
“You have nothing to apologise for.” S’hib sighed, blinking deeply as he adjusted to the brighter light.
“It’s just an evolutionary byproduct...” He added sullenly. “Sometimes it interferes with my duties, I mean no offence towards you.”
" No need to apologize it's nothing I haven't had before. Evolution is a fickle missstressss. Now how'sss the eye feeling?" He asked.
"It feels fine." S'hib replied, sipping the coffee slowly.
"And everything looksss fine on this end. The gorn said as he checked the computer results. " I hope you don't find this rude, but i've never meet one of your ssspecis before would you mind telling me a little about yourssself and your people."
"I'm a Sequusian." S'hib said sitting up more, resting the coffee cup in his lap as he did so. "We are, unlike most mammalian species a prey species... you could consider you and I polar opposites from an evolutionary perspective." He added, looking up at the large scaled Doctor before him.
The gorn snorted slightly as he took another drink. It was quite clear he was laughing. " Apologissse for that, but that made me chuckle. I was considered a failure on my home colony for my lack of predatory behaviorsss. "
"I guess you found a better colony." S'hib said with a smile as he stood up, placing the small coffee cup on the biobed. "Hopefully I did too." He added softly. "But what I need to go do now, is take a shower." S'hib said as he wriggled his nose and upper lip, the dried blood making his fur stick together.
" One thing." The gorn said as he pulled out two small bottles from his draw. " Ussse thessse if your eyesss gte dry and if it ssstartsss becoming blurry come right back here. " He said holding up the eye dropper bottle. " And use this for the blood. Maracnon tea extract will get blood out of anything." He said handing him a small shampoo bottle.
"Thank you." S'hib said softly as he tentatively took the items from Sthilg, despite their conversation he was still nervous around the Gorn. "Hopefully I won't be back anytime soon." He added, walking towards the door before realizing how it sounded. ~Just keep walking.~ He thought to himself as he hurried out the door, his hooves clicking with every step.
