MD4 - Mattias questioning

Mission: Season 6: Episode 7: Crossroads of Destiny
Location: Detention Centre, Niea IV
Timeline: MD4 :: about 1.5 hours after "This Wasn't In the Diplomacy Handbook"
1424 words - 2.8 OF Standard Post Measure

Not wasting time or giving Mattias a chance to get his bearings, the guards pushed him through processing rather quickly. They then brought him into an interrogation room, where Koral was waiting for them. It took five guards to keep Mattias under control, and due to the size difference and how violent he had been, they opted for what gave them the most leverage, which was the chair.

A mention of a "lesson" trickled in, and as long as Lady Sama hadn't indicated otherwise, a lesson was what they were going to give. For an hour, no questions were asked. Only snide comments about how each strike was for the ones he injured.

Each guard took turns abusing Mattias in one fashion or another. By the time they were done, he was beaten, bruised, bleeding, had several broken bones (which the Lonians had only been able to do with hand tools). Each one was breathing heavily with the exertion they had put in to do their job of breaking this man for proper questioning.

Through it all, even when the pain grew higher and higher, Mattias either gave them nothing, not even a cry of pain, or the only words he had uttered since the whole process had begun.

"Richardson, Mattias. Captain, Starfleet Marine Corps. Personnel Number, 765-78-66778A7G."

Commander Tarek sighed with annoyance as he read the information on the datapad outside the room. This one did a number on his officers. What a barbarian. He entered the room to see two guards finish beating the prisoner. His presence invoked almost as much order as Lady Sama's, but as the presence the royal guard saw more often, he didn’t have to say much. He walked into the room, datapad at his side. "Koral, status."

Hearing the voice of the feared Commander Tarek, Koral immediately snapped attention and saluted the man. "Sir! You honor us with your presence!" He then paused a beat and answered the command.

"Whole we have severely beaten this man, broken many parts of his body, his spirit itself remains unbreakable, Sir!"

The commander silently acknowledged the reply before turning to the prisoner. "Three assault charges, and endangering a Head of House," Tarek spoke after a moment's pause. "At least you made it interesting, even if you failed in whatever stunt you were trying to pull."

Mattias looked over at the new arrival. Well, as best he could with two swollen eyes. His reply was a simple one. He collected a mouthful of blood and spit it in the other man's location.

A huff of disdain escaped Tarek as the glob hit his shoe. Stepping forward about two steps, he backhanded Mattias, hard. "You will learn that I don't tolerate silly little acts of rebellion." He then moved to the table to inspect what had already been used, evidenced by the blood stuck to them. "This can be as simple or as difficult as you make it. Assaulting a member of the royal guard is three cycles here. With the damage you caused, you could be here for a very long time. But..." He picked up one of the tools, inspecting it with his other hand resting behind his back. "... a confession goes a long way. Admit your crime, and Lady Sama may be generous in your sentencing."

Mattias rotated his neck slowly, the sound of his tendons popping could be heard. He then looked at the little man questioning him. After letting out a breath, he finally spoke. "Theonly think I'm guilty of, pipsqueak, is not snapping a knot in your asses earlier." He turned his head to the side and spit out some more blood before continuing. "Though, I must admit, I will enjoy watching my wife and the Elysium walk up one side of uour ass and down the other before you even know what hit you. So, if you know what's best for you, you will release all of us and beg for forgiveness. I promise you that you won't get another opportunity."

Tarek fought the urge to roll his eyes as he replaced the tool and picked up an electrorod before turning to the prisoner. "You seem to be under the mistaken impression that your wife and your ship know where you are." As he spoke, his fingers manipulated the settings with the same precision as a musician tuning their instrument. Koral's settings worked on most, but it was clear that they didn't work on this one if he was still able to talk so clearly. "Even if they did, they have no way to get here. You are alone; accept that as fact." He then changed his grip before pushing the conductive rods firmly into Mattias' side.

The increased charge hit Mattias harder than the earlier ones had. His muscles tensed up as the electrical charge surged through his body.

The charge pulsed for several long seconds, then Tarek deactivated the device and pulled it away. Not even a sound. Impressive. "What were your intentions when you decided to attack the general and her guards?"

Mattias caught his breath when the electrodes were deactivated. For a few seconds he was silent, then he replied, "Richardson, Mattias. Captain, Starfleet Marine Corps. Personnel Number, 765-78-66778A7G."

Tarek thumbed the controls up a degree before jamming the electrodes right back where he had them in the prisoner's side. While he didn't know much about this species in particular, he knew when the voltage would become universally fatal, and they weren't at a point where he had to monitor it yet. On the off chance he did go too far... well. That was what a call to medical was for.

As soon as the electricity started running through his body again, Mattias tensed up in the restraints. For several seconds, while the current was applied. He was completely frozen, unable to even breath. When the electrode was finally turned off, he gasped and coughed as his body started to work again.

When he removed the prod, Tarek waited to speak as he formed his thoughts. An attack on the general within the same day as a treason arrest... it couldn't be coincidental. "Your intentions."

It took Mattias a few moments to catch his breath before he could reply. When he did, however, he was glaring directly into the smaller man's eyes. "You want to know my intentions, bud? How's this for starters, when I get out of these restraints, im gonna shove that shock stick so far up your ass that when I turn it on, smoke is come out of your ears!"

Tarek had heard worse, been disrespected in far more insulting ways, and it was why the outburst didn't phase him. He was about to respond when his communicator chirped. He glanced at his wrist, then twitched his hand so a small holographic display appeared, and he read the message as he returned the electrorod to the table.

While Mattias couldn't see the whole message from the angle that he was currently secured, he did manage to catch enough to make him feel a pit form in his stomach. There was a section that had indicated that report, pertaining to the actions that had been taken in self defense by the Lonian guards that had attacked him.

The display was only visible for a few seconds before Tarek dismissed the message. He looked toward Mattias again, taking a couple seconds to match the man's glare with a look thay simply said he wasn't tolerating his pathetic little ramblings. "May I remind you that it is your choice to remain like this. This can be over as soon as you choose to cooperate. I'll be back when you feel like answering questions."

"Then take a long trip, bub," the Marine growled. "You shitheads attacked me first. This whole charade of saying I was the aggressor is dumber than a Pakled."

As Commander Tarek made his exit, he paused and turned his head slightly toward Koral. He gave the prisoner no further attention. "He's all yours, Lieutenant." He knew that some of the guards liked to place wagers, and as long as it fed morale and kept them loyal, he didn’t care. "Your methods to make the traitor talk set a fairly high standard. I'd hate to see you lose your streak."

Koral grinned a sadistic sneer. "They may be bigger than we are, Sir, but they bleed just as easily. This one will break, no question."
